Well, it's about time.

Now all we need are furnishings and decorations...Wink

I haven't seen the last two episodes of Gareth's choir but I saw them at the Albert hall!! Did make me really want to have something similar next time the Colonel is away on his sandy desert 7 month mini-break! Perhaps I'll start one myself then!Grin

SupermassiveLBD · 22/11/2011 18:35

Maybe we should have an Academy choir. i know it's not at all the same thing, and no disrespect etc, intended, but the Man is far away.

LadyDamerel · 22/11/2011 18:44

Smile Massive. Maybe we should link up with all the other fansites and have a massed choir. We could do our first concert in Heathrow Arrivals Hall...

TransylvanianVampiress · 22/11/2011 18:47

GrinGrin love it!! Although not sure we should share that fab idea with the slightly more shall we say deranged serious fan bases! We are aiming for the normal fanatic status after all!!Wink

SupermassiveLBD · 22/11/2011 18:54

Huge Grin @ "normal fanatic"

Gotta disappear for a while, RL calls. BBL

PassTheTwiglets · 22/11/2011 19:18

You could try very.co.uk, Small - That's where I got our Octopod when nowhere else had it. Or ebay...?

PassTheTwiglets · 22/11/2011 19:25

I know the thing you mean - just had a look on ebay and they are selling on there - £95 plus postage. Blimey, they are so in demand that people are selling Argos reservation codes for them!!!

PassTheTwiglets · 22/11/2011 19:31

Small, check your PMs, I think I've found you one!

LadyDamerel · 22/11/2011 20:54

::collapses in sobbing, snotty mess on the chaise longoo::

::scrabbles for Maud's petticoats to blow her nose::

I've just watched the Military Wives Choir on iPlayer. Absolutely incredible.

SupermassiveLBD · 22/11/2011 21:03

I guess I shall have to wait for it to show up on YT, LadyD. They were supposed to be bringing out a world-wide version of the i-Player, but it bears just about as much a resemblance to yours as the international Beeb does to the ordinary BBC Channels. And it's not available on the Island, anyway, well wouldn't you just know it?

LadyDamerel · 22/11/2011 21:10
. But the story behind it is what really set me off. It was specially composed for them by Paul Mealor who did some of the Kate/Will Royal Wedding Music. The lyrics are extracts from letters the women had written to their DHs or their DHs had written home to them that Paul Mealor compiled into a poem.

God, I'm welling up just thinking about it.

TransylvanianVampiress · 22/11/2011 21:18

It is a gorgeous song! Just catching up with it now!

I think it shows us military wives in quite a good light! And makes me proud to be one! ::collapses in a heap next to Lady D scrabbling for spare clean dry petticoats::

LadyDamerel · 22/11/2011 21:28

Vampy, I have no idea how you do it. As I was watching it I said to LordD that I could never be a military wife. It's too hard.

SupermassiveLBD · 22/11/2011 21:35

Oh, that's lovely, thanks for the link, LadyD. It must be great too for them to come together in a shared experience with so many others who are going through the same emotional storms.

TheSmallPrint · 22/11/2011 21:35

Am I the only one not watching the choir?

Thanks Twigs but it was a different thing I was looking for, have PMd you. Smile

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 22/11/2011 21:37

We're watching Melvyn be still my beating heart Bragg talking about the novels of John Steinbeck, but I will watch The Choir later.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 22/11/2011 21:38

Oh and kindly get your grubby hands off my underskirts as that is Mr Thornton's prerogative.

LadyDamerel · 22/11/2011 21:40

Dunno, Small. Have you seen any of them?

From what Lovely Gareth was saying, that was the aim, Massive.

LadyDamerel · 22/11/2011 21:44

If I were you I would give your underskirts to Dixon for wringing out, Maud. I'm surprised you can walk with all the extra weight of the water saturating them.

Unless you are hard as nails, I'd recommend watching The Choir with a box of Man-size tissues to hand.

TransylvanianVampiress · 22/11/2011 21:46

Lady D - get through it mainly with support from fabulous friends like you all!

Sorry Maud I need to borrow your kerchief if I can't have your petticoats!

PassTheTwiglets · 22/11/2011 22:01

I haven't seen any of The Choir either, Small.

TransylvanianVampiress · 22/11/2011 22:24

To be honest if you're into the lovely Gareth it's not much different to his previous choir transformations! But was quite moving with regards to what life is like at home while your loved one is away - certainly not a side considered very often I don't think.

But going back to the commune choir - what shall we sing to welcome Thorin back? Moves like jagger? sexy back? Grin

Not sure that will work but sure you've all got it on speed dial!!Grin

TransylvanianVampiress · 22/11/2011 22:27

Massive iPhones are ace til you try to do clever things with YouTube!!Grin

SupermassiveLBD · 22/11/2011 22:36

I guess we have been all sitting here, mesmerised!

LadyDamerel · 22/11/2011 22:40

But was quite moving with regards to what life is like at home while your loved one is away - certainly not a side considered very often I don't think.

I think it's the story behind the choir, rather than the choir itself, that is the interest in this series. On the surface, they're just a bunch of ordinary women/mums but they spend half their lives as single mums, knowing there is a significant chance that knock on the door will come which is why they are completely extraordinary and deserve some acclaim and recognition.

I really hope Chris Evans' campaign works and they get the Christmas No. 1.

Right, I am away to bed. I'm in school all day tomorrow and so are OFSTED ::insert terrified face here::

Night!
