Would you go in the revealed passageway?

If I had s big house I'd be tempted to add one.

Friends house has a cupboard that leads to their spare room!

ShirleyKnot · 27/08/2011 20:47

I would do that thing that Terence Mann did in Field of Dreams.

The hand in, the snatch back, the arm in..the shoulder...

and yes of course I'd explore it!

I would totally send the kids down there

Moodycat - I viewed a 1970s house recently that had a secret room behind the master bedroom wardrobes - I think it's quite common round here. I guess they are more sulking rooms than panic rooms though Grin

I would tie a big bit of string around DH and send him in first to scout it out...!

bibbitybobbityhat · 27/08/2011 20:50

I have recurring dreams of being in houses that turn out to be very much larger than I knew. So you wander around and find a secret corridor with several more rooms. The house is always different and the dreams are always really pleasant.

Apparently it means I am not fulfilling my full potential.

I can't imagine anything I'd like more in rl than to discover an extra room or two in my house Grin.

HarrietJones · 27/08/2011 20:50

I want a sulking room Envy

cheesesarnie · 27/08/2011 20:53

Hassled · 27/08/2011 20:53

Oh a sulking room would be great. DS3 would live in it.

what a brilliant use of the under-used wwyd section

I would go in, but i would take a pal because i've watched too much Jonathan Creek

DeepPurple · 27/08/2011 20:56

Ooooh I'd love a secret passage or a secret room or something.

Moodykat · 27/08/2011 20:56

Dandy - they did indeed follow me down it. I don't think they could've mistaken the joy on my face for anything other than genuine tbh! I was only 19 and we weren't a very 'corporate' agency so I was probably wearing something airy fairy and was completely shit at the whole sales patter thing. Probably why I am no longer an agent!
Also, when I was growing up my best friend lived in a massive old house and there was one room downstairs you could only get to by going down a staircase hidden in a cupboard in an upstairs bedroom. Would love to know the history behind it!
I love tunnels and secrets in houses. But not ghosts!

TrillianAstra · 27/08/2011 20:57

Moodykat I want you to find me a house please!

my childhood home had a workshop in the basement which had a hole leading to a whole series of rooms under the garden, plus it had two massive secret cupboards behind wood panelling in the lounge which we found purely by chance one day.
We had a cleaner who knew about them, when we were burgled they went only to the cupboards and took the valuables out of them, the cleaner never came back again and we never heard from her. She heard from the police and some of the stuff was recovered.

ThisIsANiceCage · 27/08/2011 21:04

WMMC is that the completely normal house with the haunted teacups and light moving across a room?

Moodykat · 27/08/2011 21:09

Oh my goodness gingerchilli! I think I would wet myself with excitement if I ever discovered that level of secrecy!

vividgingerchilli · 27/08/2011 21:13

I kept it very quiet, I knew my parents would not have been happy with my crawling up under the house. They came up at the top of the garden by the greenhouse, I wished there was a way out so I could go downstairs with my Mum seeing me go and the wave to her from the top of the garden!!!

vincentvangogh · 27/08/2011 21:14

I would be in there in a flash in case Matt Smith / David Tennant was hiding inside with a big blue box ...

schroeder · 27/08/2011 21:14

I would definitely go down. Grin

My dream is to have a house with one of those fire places that swing round ala scooby doo

vincentvangogh · 27/08/2011 21:15

Although tbh if I found Christopher Eccleston I'd make polite conversation and then put the bookcase back where I found it.

vividgingerchilli · 27/08/2011 21:16

I would hate that schroeder, I mean who knows what you would find down there?! Well I'd love it in theory but Scooby Doo was very scary for a coward like me a very boring programme so that puts me right off.

LydiaWickham · 27/08/2011 21:22

I'd love it! A proper scooby doo style secret corridor and room?!?!? Sign me up! That's my sort of place.

I did find a nice house while playing the Friday night 'property porn for when we win the euro millions' game a couple of weeks ago with a secret-ish (well, was on the estate agent particulars) stair case leading from a bedroom in the roof to the dressing room of the master bedroom (even more exciting, imagine having a dressing room!)
