The real HJ or a fake?

OP posts:
PassTheTwiglets · 25/07/2011 20:08

The real one! I'm not much of a fan of Twitter, I must say - it takes too long to read through everything and most of it you're not that interested in anyway.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 25/07/2011 20:36

::staggers in::

::hears the words 'party' and 'birthday cake'::

::has terrible flashback to Saturday::

::faints::

SupermassiveLBD · 25/07/2011 20:46

Proffers Wine to Maud and anyone else in need of it.

Twitter does have its uses I suppose but I don't always look.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 25/07/2011 21:03

::glugs gratefully::

Should we pour a large one for LadyDamerel?

DumSpiroSpero · 25/07/2011 21:05

Hold that thought Massive as I will definitely need Wine for the rest of the week.
We are decorating the dining room this week, have one of dd's friends coming Weds afternoon for a sleepover and seeing another Friday, then have friends round on Saturday & picnic planned for Sunday.

Plus I have 35 glass candle holders to paint for church exchange visit by 8th August.

Not exactly the chilled out start to the hols I had in mind!

SupermassiveLBD · 25/07/2011 21:07

Good idea, Maud.

Well, that's my excuse.

Maybe some twiglets and crinkle cut crisps to go with.

SupermassiveLBD · 25/07/2011 21:09

Spiro, can't you introduce candle holder painting as a fun play-date activity?

LadyDamerel · 25/07/2011 21:13

Oh what good timing. Yes please, Maud.

::sinks onto chaise longoo::

Thank you again for your thoughts. It was a lovely service, very personal (he'd chosen most of himself already - he was nothing if not meticulously organised, my Grandpa Smile) and the church was packed - more than 150 people were there which was testament to the sort of person he was. The MiniD's behaved impeccably during the service and committal (rather unusually) and the wake was a real celebration. It was sad in bits (he asked for Abide with Me as one of the hymns which has the ability to make me cry anyway - it's so beautiful, so I sobbed through the whole hymn and couldn't sing at all) but overall it was an oddly lovely day.

LadyDamerel · 25/07/2011 21:14

Massive, forget about leaving it to breathe. I do not have sophisticated tastes.

PassTheTwiglets · 25/07/2011 21:17

Hi, LadyD, good to hear that it was a lovely service. Wow, 150 people - he must've been very special. How did the children cope with it? Are you feeling drained now?

SupermassiveLBD · 25/07/2011 21:21

It does sound as if it was a great comfort, to all involved, LadyD.
Even so, do have this. {wine]

SupermassiveLBD · 25/07/2011 21:22

sorry, who nicked that bottle. let me try again.

Wine
LadyDamerel · 25/07/2011 21:23

The church was absolutely packed. He was a member of the Lions, was heavily involved in most of what went on in their village and was also the head of the local primary school so he was very well known locally.

I'm completely drained now I've sat down. I think the emotion plus all the catching up with family I haven't seen for donkeys years has taken it out of me.

Going to have a read of the Scotsman interview now......

DumSpiroSpero · 25/07/2011 21:25

Hi Lady D. Glad today went as well as these things can - how lovely that so many people came.

I always think it's a bit extra special when you know the person has been able to have some input. DH's lovely nan, who was very special to me, had us all leave the service to 'Is this the way to Amarillo?' by Peter Kay Smile

LadyDamerel · 25/07/2011 21:26

Oh and children coped brilliantly. We'd talked about everything that was going to happen beforehand so they took it all in their stride.

SupermassiveLBD · 25/07/2011 21:32

It was very brave of you to involve them, LadyD. i'm not sure I would have had the courage.,

DumSpiroSpero · 25/07/2011 21:34

Glad the little ones were ok. They seem to accept and cope with things much more readily than adults don't they?

TheSmallPrint · 25/07/2011 21:35

Evening all.

Lady D I'm glad today was OK, It's good to let the emotion out and so nice that the service was exactly what he wanted and so full Smile.

OP posts:
PassTheTwiglets · 25/07/2011 21:38

I think they just have a lot of questions they need answering, don't they? I'm glad the MiniD's were ok.

LadyD, I know I said I would be around tonight if you needed distractions but I'm afraid I have to go, as I can hear Boy about to wake up. Glad you checked in with us and will chat later.

Forgot to tell you all that I had a dream about Teach the other night! In it, we discussed how he looked nothing like The Man :o

TheSmallPrint · 25/07/2011 21:39

Can I ask, is anyone else reading RA's name as Armitarrrrge when it comes up on links? I may have to hunt down that Marvel interviewer and throttle her

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 25/07/2011 21:44

Err, no, Small. I'm not.

::refills LadyDamerel's glass::

TheSmallPrint · 25/07/2011 21:46

Oh Maud, you know I can't help but change words in my head when I am reading/writing them and once it's there...

Only joking Grin
