I am brain-dead tonight so this is rubbish - just a place-holder. Please do something else if you can think of a decent one!

Maybe we could all club together and secure it for our next building, LadyD.

I do hope Pauline and Dawn can keep it off. Slimming is so hard but weight maintenance is awful hard too.

LadyDamerel · 14/07/2011 16:52

Isn't it just, Massive. I can lose weight relatively easily when I'm in the right mindset but I can not keep it off or keep my weight stable.

The MasterDamerels are currently fighting over who is going to be Robin Hood. I was trying to persuade one to be Guy but they are not having that. Ah well, they'll realise Robin's a PLFW soon enough, we're only up to Series 1, Ep 4.

PassTheTwiglets · 14/07/2011 17:25

I just looked at my calendar and despite dieting since March I have lost a grand total of.... 3lbs. In that time I have put on and lost around a stone, how ridiculous! I keep thinking "just do it, woman!" I seem to be either dieting or stuffing my face...Hmm

Wish I knew - can't get the bloody weight off in the first place Angry Sad

Have just had a letter from docs following blood test so suspect my thyroid levels have taken a dive - again. Perhaps once that's sorted it'll improve.

PassTheTwiglets · 14/07/2011 17:28

Spiro, do you have to take meds for it? May help if so! I have major family history of thyroid problems and my mum, aunt and cousin all have to take meds for an underactive thyroid - I have a blood test every year or so and each time I am desperate for them to say that I need meds to speed mine up, in the hopes that I can lose some weight but I never do :)

PassTheTwiglets · 14/07/2011 17:32

I am in the zone now though - I only have 10lbs to go to reach my interim target of being merely Overweight on the BMI scale, instead of Obese :o

OP posts:
LadyDamerel · 14/07/2011 17:36

Spiro, my thyroid is underactive too - well, it doesn't work, conked out after my pg with MissD - and my levels are constantly all over the place. I've just been put up to 175mg of thyroxine after 3 consecutive low results and that seems to be helping the weight loss, finally. It's an absolute PITA because artificial thyroxine just doesn't seem to regulate everything as well as the real stuff does.

LadyDamerel · 14/07/2011 17:38

Well done Twigs, 10lbs isn't far! I'm 2.5 stone down but realistically have another 2.5 to go. And I'm sure I probably still class as obese Hmm.

SupermassiveLBD · 14/07/2011 17:45

Well, I did really well until a month or so again, but now my appetite has raised its ugly head and I am on the downward slide again.

Maybe I need something to keep my mind off food

LadyDamerel · 14/07/2011 17:52

I need a life sized one of these on my fridge. That would discourage the late night raids Grin.

PassTheTwiglets · 14/07/2011 17:56

Wow, 2.5 stone, Lady! That's amazing! How have you done it? Has it taken you long? I need to lose another 2.5 to be considered healthy but realistically I'd be happy-ish with losing 2. It's just such a sloooow process when you have so much to go - not fair that it can go on in a matter of weeks but it takes months to come off!

That photo doesn't take my mind off food, Massive - it makes me fancy a little nibble... :o

OP posts:
PassTheTwiglets · 14/07/2011 17:57

LadyD - or the real thing in your room that would stop you even needing to venture downstairs :o

OP posts:
DumSpiroSpero · 14/07/2011 17:57

Yup Lady D mine crashed after pg with DD. Took them 2 yrs to get dose right and I've been on 175mcg a day for a few yrs now so probably due an increase.

Can't deny that I like my food (and hate exercise) though!

SupermassiveLBD · 14/07/2011 18:00

Surely that particular kind if twiglets is calorie-free., Twigs

Ha, a life-sized cardboard cutout of Gizzy, big sword at the ready, would be a great deterrant indeed.

SupermassiveLBD · 14/07/2011 18:02

the real thing in your room that would stop you even needing to venture down

You mean he'd tie us up?

PassTheTwiglets · 14/07/2011 18:09

If we're lucky, Massive...

OP posts:
DumSpiroSpero · 14/07/2011 18:13

Would this do, Massive?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 14/07/2011 18:13

Do you ladies (and I use the term loosely) never stop?

PassTheTwiglets · 14/07/2011 18:15

Well now, you just come on over here and let us show you how long we could keep going, dearie... :o

I think we were separated at birth Spiro Grin.

Twigs, it's taken since the beginning of March (ish) to get this far. I suspect what I'm doing is classed as low carbing/low GI but I'm not following any real plan. I'm just trying to reduce the amount of bread/pasta/crap I eat and increase the amount of protein and veg (yuk). I'm a real emotional eater though, so I think it all may go very wrong over the next few weeks. Been fighting the urge to dive headlong into a massive cake all day today - it's been successful so far but if the MiniDs don;t stop bickering then no cake is safe!

I really, really want that magnet Grin.

Sorry Maud (although for once I didn't start that).

LadyDamerel · 14/07/2011 18:24

Just had a little turn at the thought of Gizzy wielding his big sword in my room, missed that comment first time round!

But yes, that would do it.

DumSpiroSpero · 14/07/2011 18:27

If they're replacing some of the 'Loose Women' they need look no further than the Academy, Maud Grin.

I'm with you re the emotional eating, Lady D. I've suffered from depression on and off for years and it certainly doesn't help.

PassTheTwiglets · 14/07/2011 18:45

Me too wrt emotional eating. When you are sad it make you feel better (albeit temporarily) and when you are happy it makes things even nicer.

So, for London we have - theatre, Tate Modern, Science Museum, Royal Observatory, Discovery Centre in Stratford, Buckingham Palace (for me and DD, Covent Garden Transport Centre for DH and DS, yaaawn!), Diana Playground and some yummy food places (can't wait for Belgo!) I have afternoon left to fill.... hmmm....

DumSpiroSpero · 14/07/2011 19:12

How about a duck tour or going to see something at the IMAX?

LadyDamerel · 14/07/2011 19:46

When you are sad it make you feel better (albeit temporarily) and when you are happy it makes things even nicer.

That's it in a nutshell, Twigs.

Spiro, me too with the on/off depression. Crap, isn't it?
