Margaret Hale Academy of Tea-Pouring & Wallpaper Selection at the University of Milton Northern

Welcome to our new common room which, as you would expect, is decorated in impeccable taste (despite the limited choice of wallpapers available in Milton Northern). Above the marble mantelpiece hangs a portrait of the Vice-Chancellor of the University. As we recline elegantly on the chaise longue, we partake of tea and ratafia biscuits and discuss the works of Plato, although in the evening the finest wines and Polish cordials may be served.

I'm going to blame the dcs Grin. Have several glasses of polish cordial relieved the traumas of the elephant invasion, Massive? You needed a knight in shining armour to rescue you earlier, I think.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 04/07/2011 23:02

Blaming the offspring is a sure-fire excuse, I always find. For anything.

Another classic of English literature, for those of a horsey disposition. Black Beauty.

And with that I wish you goodnight.

Sorry Maud, sorry Mr T. It's just that scene at the train station. It does things to me. I seem to come over all peculiar and forget myself.

I will try much harder to keep my mind out of the gutter and on more lofty thoughts of intellectual improvement.

SupermassiveLBD · 04/07/2011 23:09

Thanks, Lady D, I must say a few stolen moments in the broom cupboard with Gizzy would have been a real pick me up, today, but alas, it was not to be.

As for the Polish Cordial, I have a horrible feeling the elephants commandeered my last bottle, to practice making Molotov cocktails with.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 04/07/2011 23:12

::Looks back at you::

I quite agree about the, ahem, moving nature of the scene at the train station. For intellectual improvement I prefer Plato, myself. In fact I treasure it.

Not having seen Cold Feet, I find that pic quite bizarre.

Good night again.

OP posts:
LadyDamerel · 04/07/2011 23:12

I can offer you the last of my ratafia.

Must away to bed now.

Night!

SupermassiveLBD · 04/07/2011 23:13

It you want excruciatingly bad puns, Maudie, I could post Back Beauty , and link to that little fetish of mine.

but I will restrain myself.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 04/07/2011 23:17

::Looks back at you::

Restrain yourself? But why break the habit of a lifetime?

OP posts:
SupermassiveLBD · 04/07/2011 23:25

Just for you, Maud, just for once, I shall!

Good night, dear colleague.

PasstheTwiglets · 05/07/2011 07:50

Ah, LadyD, so you have joined the ranks of those of us who are Out :) The next step is when they start to realise the bits that are going to, shall we say, affect you. I was watching a particularly interesting bit in Spooks (there was a flak jacket involved) and whilst I remained completely composed on the outside, DrTwigs just looked at me and burst out laughing Blush

Maud, I am up to exactly the same bit as you in the book. So you've had the lovely scene where he confesses his feelings to her The bit where he lets go of her hand, only to pull her into his arms

Small, I LOL'd at your "am I doing it wrong?" :)

TheSmallPrint · 05/07/2011 08:02

Morning! I think Mr Small refuses to acknowledge the evidence before him, the stack of DVDs and 6am watching of RH on Watch is just a sign of someone interested in a range of TV entertainment. I hope.
I must say, Dr Twigs sounds lovely Smile

DumSpiroSpero · 05/07/2011 08:22

I have just found out favourite bite knight in my doorstep Grin!

TheSmallPrint · 05/07/2011 08:25

I hope it's the real thing Spiro? Grin

PasstheTwiglets · 05/07/2011 09:18

I think DrTwigs is just wearily resigned to the fact, Small :)

Re. MrSmall's obliviousness, I guess what they call 'hiding in plain sight' really works!

Spiro, is it RH3? Funny that 3 is the one you want to watch but it's the one I'm least interested in! Maybe Long Hair Gizzy will convince me otherwise when I get round to watching it.

TwigBoy has just gone off to nursery and I have lots to do but I am very tempted to do some ReseArch instead. I've only ever done that once before as I always feel I ought to be doing something but some enforced Me Time might be a good idea. if he asks, tell DrTwigs I washed the floors and cleaned the windows this morning, will you? Cheers.

TheSmallPrint · 05/07/2011 09:23

Procrastination is an important life skill Twigs, I vote for ReseArch.

LadyDamerel · 05/07/2011 09:23

I have 36 hours without LordD so I am contemplating a marathon attempt on my coursework on Darkness of Garb, Darkness of Heart: Black Leather as the Exemplification of Moral Complexity in Robin Hood as it is a module I am very behind on.

What do you think Spiro? Shall we compare notes as we progress?

PasstheTwiglets · 05/07/2011 09:26

Gosh, just had a blast from the past! Spiro, when you said "bite knight" it suddenly made me think of "Fright Night" (what with the rhyme, you see). This is the thing that first made me, ahem, interested in the whole vampire thing. To be specific, it was It looks awfully cheesy now but still sort of works :) But goodness me, I can't tell you how many times I watched that as a 14 or 15 year old! I got all excited when I heard they were remaking it and David Tennant was in it - I was crushed, crushed I tell you, to then discover that he's playign the Roddy McDowell character :o

LadyDamerel · 05/07/2011 09:26

Twigs, I have to make a F1 MacLaren horseless carriage out of sugarpaste today but somehow I am being irresistibly drawn towards ReseArch instead. I will leave the floor washing and window cleaning to dear Mrs Imber.

PasstheTwiglets · 05/07/2011 09:29

LadyD, do we have a BabyDamerel birthday coming up? Please tell me you don't do that sort of thing for fun :) And 36 hours? He told me he could only come for 24 - he is cheating on both of us, damn him!

Right, LucasAid it is! I will review the embassy scene and then commence 9.1.

PasstheTwiglets · 05/07/2011 09:33

Um, actually I've just read that back and realised it might sound odd. When I joked about LordD being with me and cheating on us both, obviously I was referring to dear, fictional Jasper - but it could've sounded like I was talking about your RL partner, which makes it suddenly very unfunny. I'm sure you know what I meant but I just wanted to clarify in case :)

TheSmallPrint · 05/07/2011 09:36

Lady D, I have found someone who may be able to assist in your course work, he's been thinking long and hard about those moral issues.

LadyDamerel · 05/07/2011 09:40

It's 'work' Twigs, well, more of a hobby that I get paid for, but it is fun (for me, anyways Grin). If SmallPrint was closer I would fashion a Gizzy/RA themed cake for her birthday (sorry, Small, can't remember off the top of my head if it is Gizzy you appreciate the most).

LadyDamerel · 05/07/2011 09:41

Grin @ Twigs digging herself out of that particular hole. You're okay, my dear, I knew what you meant!

TheSmallPrint · 05/07/2011 09:47

Twigs I don't think Lady D thought you were meaning her real DH Grin

That clip is bizarre, I have never seen Fright Night and so it all looks a bit 80s to me and not very sexy. I am sure as a 15 yo in the 80s I would have been hooked though.
