Spiro, was it the one in Debenhams? That was great. My one is more a case of "it fits" rather than me actively liking it - though I do like it too. BUt what I reeeeeaaaally want is one of those little, ditsy floral numbers like this but that's never going to happen!

DD went in absolutely fine this morning but DS was a bit of a nightmare - sobbing and clinging to me. I stayed with him for half an hour and managed to leave in the end but I'm glad that's over for the week (he only goes twice a week). How was Smallboy Minor going in today?

Right, off to try and sort out my garden. I was trying to mend it yesterday and, Maud, I could imagine you staring over my shoulder and tutting at what I was doing :) Not that you are a tutty person, of course!, just that I always imagine a gardener having conniptions at my attempts and you are now my garden person to think of :) I'm such an idiot - I dropped my secateurs over the neighbours' fence and can't get them back now. I bought 2 plants yesterday but now realise that I needed to buy about 10! How do people do that 'fill your flower bed up all year round' thing?! Mine is virtually bear in winter and full in summer. I did note with some sadness (mainly at the price) that I must have accidentally pulled up a clematis last year, thinking it was a weed, as it's not there anymore.

SupermassiveLBD · 27/04/2011 11:41

I am loving the dress, Twiggy. I don't care what you say about it just being wearable for you, I think it's really stylish. Love the colours. I have the opposite problem to you, can't wear anything with a deep vee neck, as i have no boobs and the front of the dress just hangs off me. so you can see down to my toes, yeuch

As for gardening, what is the opposite of green fingers? Cos whatever it is, I have them [csad] I just have to walk past a plant and it shrivels up and dies.

And for your entertainment needs. Here's something novel! [cgrin]

DumSpiroSpero · 27/04/2011 12:22

ROFL at your pic Massive! Grin

Glad your DD was ok this morning - shame about DS but at least it's over for the week now.

I couldn't get the dress in Debs in the right size and was also a bit Hmm about the length, and I have just discovered when trying to link that Additions have stopped doing the other one I liked - grr Angry.

SupermassiveLBD · 27/04/2011 13:25

Oh dear, I am no scientist, obviously, so I am doubly a snobby cow, but I can't help having a ROFL @ the thread title about the Higgs Bison. [cgrin]

Especially horrid of me as I am famed for my creative typos. Blush

TheSmallPrint · 27/04/2011 15:31

Afternoon ladeez.

What's all this talk about dresses?? I don't do dresses, I don't do pretty things at all so what am I supposed to wear in July?

Twigs Smallboy Minor was a bit clingy this morning but I was a mean mamma as I had to go straight to a meeting, I peeled him off and gave him to one of the preschool staff and ran Blush. He was fine though I assume.

We also did some gardening this weekend and replaced the dead ones. Plants are so shockingly expensive especially when you kill them every year. I couldn't find any nice climbing roses for the front but found a Honeysuckle (or was it a Jasmine Confused) that can take any soil any aspect and so thought we would give it a whirl by the front door. Lets see how long it lasts...

DumSpiroSpero · 27/04/2011 15:58

Well, this was the other dress I liked the look of, but they don't have it in my size...again!

Am trying to lose some weight anyway at the moment, so will probably leave it and look again a couple of weeks before we meet up.

OP posts:
SupermassiveLBD · 27/04/2011 17:13

Very elegant, Spiro. I love them but halter necks are another no-no for me.

Did you lose any weight while you were poorly, btw? If you were looking to drop a few pounds anyway, it would be some sort of compensation for all the agony, at least. Wink

PassTheTwiglets · 27/04/2011 17:26

Small , thank you for the thank you card! That was very sweet of you. You have gorgeous handwriting - is that because you are, like, artistic, innit?

Spiro, that dress is GORGEOUS!!! I can't do halternecks but I love them :( I do resent being so out of proportion (stoopid genes). I wouldn't mind being overweight nearly so much if I was one size throughout! Are you doing anything in particular to try and lose some weight or just cutting down in general? I read about the India Knight/Neris Thomas book on MN and am interested to try it but am very sceptical about it. I get very bored when dieting and I do much better if I have some sort of plan to follow. I was initially attracted to this diet because of the name - Pig To Twig :o

Small, yes, I was Shock at the price of plants!! I have spent soooo much money on them the last few days! And I've just discovered that 2 of them I bought need a particular type of soil, which I very much doubt that we have. Also everything I bought is pink & purple so not much variety - I thought I'd planned the colour carefully but apparently not.

the front of the dress just hangs off me. so you can see down to my toes, yeuch

My boobs hang down to my toes :o

SupermassiveLBD · 27/04/2011 17:43

the front of the dress just hangs off me. so you can see down to my toes, yeuch

My boobs hang down to my toes^

Who'd be a woman, eh? [csad]

But I suppose there are compensations

PassTheTwiglets · 27/04/2011 18:16

And what delightful compensations they are, Massive. I can feel our collective oestrogen rising...

TheSmallPrint · 27/04/2011 18:20

[cshock] @ gorgeous handwriting! It's awful! I always assume Smallboy takes after me with his dire efforts. Thanks though! Grin

I meant to say, earlier (but forgot in my panic of what you are all wearing) that the dresses are lovely. I have the same problem as Massive, I have no boobage - particularly after the Smallboys Sad. My sister on the other hand is a regular at Bravissimo Envy. I have heard that range called the Peppapig range on MN recently Twigs because of the name Grin. At least when you have big boobs a big belly is not so noticable, tiny boobs and a ginormous belly are not a good combo!

TheSmallPrint · 27/04/2011 18:21

oooh didn't I get a lot of emoticons in that last post!

SupermassiveLBD · 27/04/2011 18:22

There's also this arrogant so and so, too.

TheSmallPrint · 27/04/2011 18:26

For a Season 3 photo, that's not half bad Massive

SupermassiveLBD · 27/04/2011 18:31

Very bad , indeed, Small. In a blood-pressure-y kind of way.

SupermassiveLBD · 27/04/2011 18:34

Oh, bother I've done it again! ROFL. I've made post number 666 once more Blush

PassTheTwiglets · 27/04/2011 20:01

Your handwriting really is nice though - it's all swirly and loopy!

LOL at Pepperpig!

Big boobs that stay upright probably help disguise a big belly but mine form a charming shelf on top of my tummy, thereby making it all worse :) The worst sort of dresses for me are the ones where the designer has an idea of where boobs should be, like this one. Mine do not go anywhere near where designers think they should go :)

PassTheTwiglets · 27/04/2011 20:04

I was thinking of buying this one, too. What do you think, cute or frumpy? Frills can go either way...

TheSmallPrint · 27/04/2011 20:11

Do you know what, I think those dress with boob positions built in fit less than 1% of the population. The second dress is nice but, unless you look like that model, could be a disaster. I wouldn't wear it because it would show every lump and bump around my middle.

DumSpiroSpero · 27/04/2011 20:21

I'm not sure on the frills front - but that's probably vid I know they don't suit me. If you've got other stuff with frills that look good then why not?

It's not gathered and the colour's nice. Dark enough to be 'slimming' with out being properly black.

OP posts:
PassTheTwiglets · 27/04/2011 20:26

I don't have any frills - I really don't do frills but these seemed different. I think I like it how the model wears it, with leggings and boots, to toughen it up a bit, but as a summer dress is might be a bit too girly for me.

Oooh, look at us, going all Style & Beauty!

DumSpiroSpero · 27/04/2011 20:32

I can see it working with the leggings, biker type boots & a denim jacket maybe for autumn.

OP posts:
TheSmallPrint · 27/04/2011 20:55

I don't do style and beauty, it's too scary and I have no idea about fashion as I think everything looks hideous on me Grin

anyone watching the last episode of TCPATW tonight?

DumSpiroSpero · 27/04/2011 21:01

I'll be watching it Small. Just had a lovely hot, aromatherapy bath & now flopped on the bed, tuned in & waiting...

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/04/2011 21:02

Good heavens. First Massive starts speaking Conde Nast and now we're looking at dresses. I very much liked the first one that Twiggy linked to - I have two in a very similar style that (unusually) can accommodate my middle-aged spread stupendous norkage. I go to Cambridge on the slightest pretext quite often, so will go and have a look. Spiro mentioned boots. I love the look of dress and boots but can seldom achieve it because I have legs like a billiard table I rarely find boots that I like.
