Ok Rule it is! Can't stop now but will be back later.

Have a good day everyone!

Tee hee! How very naughty French postcard-like, Maud.
I shall have to amend mine slightly, but my royal wedding name would be Lady Florence Nichol-North (no relation, unfortunately Grin ]

DumSpiroSpero · 25/04/2011 22:24

That's not bad Massive, mine sounds like one of Heyer's ladies of ill repute!

SupermassiveLBD · 25/04/2011 22:24

Oh, Maud, I saw that advertised in one of the papers (with Dejeuner as an illo, natch)and almost asked you if you were thinking of going. Can you get popcorn, while you go around?

DumSpiroSpero · 25/04/2011 22:25

I hope you didn't get Edouard & Claude confused in the under-the-duvet department, Maud!

No comment whatsoever on that, Spiro Grin

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 25/04/2011 22:27

Tee hee to the royal names! I really could be Lady Maud!

SupermassiveLBD · 25/04/2011 22:28

I hope you didn't get Edouard & Claude confused in the under-the-duvet department, Maud!

The more the merrier Of course she didn't!

DumSpiroSpero · 25/04/2011 22:30

I don't think you'd be feeling very merry after an encounter with Manet given what finished him off!

OP posts:
SupermassiveLBD · 25/04/2011 22:32

I don't expect any of them were that savoury in RL. The fictional versions are always far nicer.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 25/04/2011 22:33

Well, Massive, like another of my famous excursions, ahem, it was inspired by discussions here. And, Spiro, ahem again, no.

::meaningful look::

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 25/04/2011 22:35

If the video version is to be believed, Manet died of a ::cough:: social disease, and not in the Officer Krupke sense.

DumSpiroSpero · 25/04/2011 22:36

Quite!

Well it's back to the old routine tomorrow, so bedtime for me.

Sweet dreams!

OP posts:
SupermassiveLBD · 25/04/2011 22:36

Such a cultural lot we are. Did you enjoy it, then?

SupermassiveLBD · 25/04/2011 22:38

Night night, Spiro. Sweet dreams
So remind me Maud and save me from googling how did dear Claude snuff it pass on?

DumSpiroSpero · 25/04/2011 22:38

Film was accurate according to bio on Wiki, Maud.

Love West Side Story - do you think DD is a bit young for it at nearly 7?

OP posts:
SupermassiveLBD · 25/04/2011 22:39

Oh dear, poor man

SupermassiveLBD · 25/04/2011 22:46

And after that faux pas, I'd better say goodnight myself. Sweet dreams all, and welcome back Maud, I am sure your telly missed you.

DumSpiroSpero · 25/04/2011 22:48

Still loitering, Massive! Monet died of lung cancer aged 86.

And on that note... goodnight!

OP posts:
SupermassiveLBD · 25/04/2011 22:53

yeah, was horrible of me to be so flippant, Feeling bad, now Blush

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 25/04/2011 22:54

I loved it, Massive. It was really the photography exhibition that first got me interested in going, but the Manet was fabulous - even worth queueing for over an hour to get in (people who had pre-booked got to join a slightly shorter queue outside the museum, and then we all met again in the further queue inside the museum). ::Gallic shrug of shoulders:: And the Musee Rodin - which, to my shame, I'd never been to before - was sheer joy.

Spiro - Girl was a bit older than that when she saw WSS but I think she would probably have coped at 7. She's recently seen Romeo and Juliet (although admittedly a production for children).

SupermassiveLBD · 25/04/2011 23:02

Does Girl come along to the exhibitions, or do you park her somewhere more interesting for her?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 25/04/2011 23:19

Girl has been going to exhibitions since she was a baby - a, ahem, particularly vocal appreciation of a show at the Royal Academy when she was a year old comes painfully to mind - and she came to these two. She is interested ::benefits of early brain-washing:: and, of course, the Manet provides plenty of talking points for inquisitive young minds.

Why has that lady got no clothes on?

Why has that lady got no clothes on? and so on.

SupermassiveLBD · 25/04/2011 23:33

That it wonderful Maud. And what perceptive questions. Why, indeed.? And when les hommes are fully clothed.

Must fly though. I need to indulge in a bit of deshabille myself. Just for a sec before I don the winceyette nightie, you understand.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 25/04/2011 23:38

Exactly - plenty of discussion about why poor old Eddie might have chosen to depict these women as he did and about attitudes (then and now) to public nudity.

Good night! Sweet dreams in your winceyette nightie. Are they all the go on the tropical island this year, then?

::granny chic::

TheSmallPrint · 26/04/2011 08:31

Morning all.

Why, how very cultured Maud. Had it been planned for long or was it a spur of the moment type visit?

Well I managed to listen to one chapter of Lord Rule before I fell asleep only to awake at the ungodly hour of 3.30am - and this time not due to children. I have been awake pretty much since then (other than briefly dropping off around 6am only to be reawoken by children at half past). I am worrying about work which always becomes magnified during the wee hours I find. Sad
