Well, this should guarantee us some visitors if it comes up on 'Most Active'.

one for the mantelpiece

Ok, the next 2 aren't John Standring, but it would be rude not to...

damn, TwigBoy yelling for me. Got to go, night all!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 30/03/2011 22:06

Spiro - I read the intros to a couple of pieces of fan fic (I've forgotten which) but found them so formulaic, predictable and poorly-written that I quickly abandoned them and - with the honourable exception of your Ralphy story - haven't been back. So I haven't read Truce and never will. But I was very ::fans self:: when I read the Glittering Prizes when I was about 14.

And as for the vid ... the throat kissing was (of course) thrilling but I giggled at the bouncing bed springs.

::Further slurping of Polish cordial through a straw::

Night Twiggy! Commiserations.

Blimey Blush

TheSmallPrint · 30/03/2011 22:07

luckily I can't open that Spiro or else Id be on the floor all night!

Twigs we just dont have that much cash to splash to justify such a short trip, we will probably end up in Butlins!

SupermassiveLBD · 30/03/2011 22:08

Thought they were going to end up going through the ceiling Grin

DumSpiroSpero · 30/03/2011 22:09

Night Twigs - at least you should have sweet dreams when you make it to bed!

Hey Small - how about Bognor Butlins second week of the hols? At least you'll have extra adult company - we'll be there! Grin

Maud, I have to agree with you re 'Truce' - the Porter character was so un-Porter like I did find it a bit of struggle (but I ploughed on valiantly Wink).

Have read other stuff by the same writer which is really good though.

I was just about to say that Butlins Bognor is fab! It could be the first Academy booze up colloquium.

TheSmallPrint · 30/03/2011 22:14

I just said that to Mr Small ' looks like we going to Bognor'! Grin

TheSmallPrint · 30/03/2011 22:16

Night Twigs!

DumSpiroSpero · 30/03/2011 22:16

It is really good. We're going the second Monday and back on Good Friday. Only takes us about half an hour to get there which is an added bonus.

Have you been there before or recently, Small?

OP posts:
DumSpiroSpero · 30/03/2011 22:17

Maud I must admit I didn't have you down as a Butlins girl!

TheSmallPrint · 30/03/2011 22:17

In the olden days we used to go to Clacton Butlins.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 30/03/2011 22:21

Aha. We discussed this on a 'holidays with one child' thread a while ago, Spiro. I took a group of Brownies to Butlins Bognor and we had a fabulous time. It's true I don't like organised/structured holidays but I would happily go to BB again, just so Girl could go back to Waterworld (is that its name?)

TheSmallPrint · 30/03/2011 22:22

Never been to Bognor one Spiro, I'd rather a villa in Portugal though - haven't been anywherr warm for almost two years and that last hol was a disaster

SupermassiveLBD · 30/03/2011 22:23

Do they still have nobbly knees contests?

TheSmallPrint · 30/03/2011 22:25

We like to go away with other people sometimes with chillen the same age to keep them occupied while we sleep and drink so they have someone to play with.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 30/03/2011 22:26

B*gger. I was just about to make the same joke about knobbly knees competitions.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 30/03/2011 22:28

Mind you, if all the life guards looked like that, it wouldn't be just Girl jumping into the pool.

Small - why was your last holiday a disaster?

TheSmallPrint · 30/03/2011 22:30

Let's just say a lot of it was spent at the hospital Sad

DumSpiroSpero · 30/03/2011 22:31

Bognor is really good - this is our third year running at Easter. First time we went Easter weekend (not our choice - long story) and I thought it would be like the seventh circle of hell. We booked for the following year before we left. There's so much for the kids to do and most of it is organised so you can just sit round the edges with a Brew or Wine and let them get on with it with the redcoats.

They've got a fantastic spa there now and the evening entertainment is brilliant.

OP posts:
SupermassiveLBD · 30/03/2011 22:32

With a view like that, Maud, they'd do well to chuck in a few tons of ice cubes into the pool beforehand. Jeez...

TheSmallPrint · 30/03/2011 22:34

Your selling it Spiro, maybe I will suggest it properly to Mr Small and watch him run screaming from the room are you on commission?? Grin

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 30/03/2011 22:35

The spa. Huh. The programme was arranged so that all the stressed Brown Owls could go and have a treat in the spa and then something happened and we couldn't go. It still hurts. ::sob::

Oh dear, Small. Our worst recent holiday - and really it was fine - was when Girl got nits and I had to ask in the pharmacie for French nit lotion. That certainly expanded my vocabulary.
