That was new to me, Maud, and a little disrupting when I am supposed to be entering the kitchen for another bout of slaving over a hot stove.

That stupid, stupid woman! Oh bother the guests, I am off to Nottamun bearing fluffy blankets, cocoa and an industrial sized bucket of Duraglit.

Them's the moves, Maud - only wish I looked like that when I'm doing them instead of Grin

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 22/03/2011 12:40

Spiro - How ever did you get hold of the film of the first dance at our wedding reception? ::shock::

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 22/03/2011 12:40

::passes round the smelling salts::

DumSpiroSpero · 22/03/2011 12:41

Call me a perv - but I'd love to have the figure and the confidence to do something like that (Lady Marmalade - not Widders) Grin!

SupermassiveLBD · 22/03/2011 12:44

I have never been to a zumba class. But

OP posts:
DumSpiroSpero · 22/03/2011 12:46

If I attempted to dance or exercise in a costume like that there really would be an earthquake Massive!

SupermassiveLBD · 22/03/2011 12:55

Sigh, it is indeed a shame that we can't ever do Lady Marmelade together for real, Spiro, only in our fevered imaginations... It would be huge fun.

OP posts:
ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 22/03/2011 13:37

Perhaps, after our triumphant excursion to the CA premiere, we might meet on the tropical island for Lady Marmelade rehearsals? Massive could pass us off as her long-lost fourth cousins twice-removed on great aunt Gertrude's side.

Spiro, isn't Zumba... well... embarrassing?! It looks a lot of fun but that's the bit that puts me off - I would feel way too self-conscious to do it, I think. Or maybe it wouldn't be so bad as everybody's doing it. I really want to go to a dance class but I'm not fit enough at the moment.

Speakign of being fit...

DumSpiroSpero · 22/03/2011 18:35

Re Zumba - I guess it depends to a degree how well developed your 'don't give toss what others think' gene is, luckily for me mine is fairly substantial (you'd never have guessed would you Grin )!

Also in the particular class I go to, they have the instructors on a stage with a spotlight on them and disco lights round the edges of the room, but no overheads or mirrors, which I think makes a huge difference. Very wide range of ages & sizes in attendance too - the friend I go with is 57 tomorrow, the youngest there about 8! I did debate taking DD but am not sure about some of the moves tbh Hmm

PassTheTwiglets · 22/03/2011 18:42

I would love to not care what anybody else thinks - it's a major failing of mine. It bothers me so much and it's very annoying!

DumSpiroSpero · 22/03/2011 18:56

Obviously I do care to some degree, but I think circumstances in my late teens conspired in my favour. All my mates had boyfriends and I didn't so I started doing a lot of stuff on my own like going to the pictures - not a big deal, but I'm still amazed in my thirties by the number of people that say "oh, I could never do that". The hospital radio gave me a lot of confidence, and just before my 18th I split up with my first love and lost the stone and a half of puppy fat that had been loitering and ended up looking (although I say it myself & shouldn't) quite hot for a couple of years.

Of course now I'm scruffy, lardy and hurtling towards middle-aged, but somehow the attitude has stuck Grin!

When I'm older I'm aiming for this

PassTheTwiglets · 22/03/2011 20:01

That's brilliant - I am going to pass that one on!

TheSmallPrint · 22/03/2011 20:29

Evening all Im shattered.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 22/03/2011 20:35

I already wear a lot of purple! There was a Nigel Molesworth appreciation thread a while ago (I started it, hem hem) on which someone pointed out that the very best role model for a lady of mature years was Molesworth's sports car-driving granny.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 22/03/2011 20:36

::Channels Molesworth's granny::

Polish cordial cocktails all round?

DumSpiroSpero · 22/03/2011 20:40

Sounds good to me. Might get one for real & sojourn to the PC as Mr Spiro is already in bed.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 22/03/2011 20:43

::Starts knocking back the Polish spirit cocktails::

Cin cin! Is Mr Spiro unwell? Or simply a person of sober habits?
