Do come in. It's never too late to enrol. We have an extensive programme of rigorous academic study and a never-ending supply of Chateau Gizzy and ratafia biscuits.

Thanks, Techno. I at least hadn't seen that (and finally YT deigned to load it, too! Angry)

I had not heard the song either and it fit the visuals perfectly. He does such a good sad brooding look.

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 07/02/2011 15:16

I'm glad it got past customs, Theresa. Look what I just found. We've had Lucas Fix You and Period Drama Fix You and now there's this.

Techno I think you got stuck on the previous link --this takes you to Endlessly again. which is quite lovely of course, no doubt about that.

My apologies. Obviously my mind was wandering. Again. I'll try again.

Oooooh, well worth the wait, Lots of lovely visuals and the delicious audio. Thanks, O Aqueous One!

Poor Guy though, he didn't get fixed, did he?

When you love someone, but it goes to waste. Could it be worse?

MrsLucasNorth · 07/02/2011 15:46

That was scrummy Techno. Am increasingly coming to the conclusion that Robin Hood needs to be next on the shopping list.

Had to sign for a package at work today - the name above mine? Ritchie! The postman must have wondered why I was smirking Smile

MrsLucasNorth · 07/02/2011 15:52

More trivia - noticed this weeks ago but hadn't got round to checking it out - the actress that plays Meg in Robin Hood, plays John Standring's stepdaughter in Sparkhouse (and her surname in RL is Grainger as in Vicar of Dibley!)

Theresaholeinyourmind · 07/02/2011 15:56

ROTFLMAO @ Richie, MrsLN.
You need to get RH. it's super-scrummy. Guy is so....

MrsLucasNorth · 07/02/2011 16:02

I was neatly ROFLMAO myself - don't think it would have gone down well in the middle of reception though Grin

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 07/02/2011 16:06

Now that you point it out, MrsLN, I can see that Meg is the stepdaughter in Sparkhouse. RH has certainly been a good buy for us, as TechnoGirl loves it (although she, of course, is rooting for Marian and cannot forgive Guy for what he does). So perhaps MissLN would enjoy it?

MrsLucasNorth · 07/02/2011 16:20

My DD is only 6 (and a half - mustn't forget the half Smile) would it be ok in the violence dept do you.think? She'd probably love Merlin, but some of the witchcrafty bits are just a bit too scary I think, so am not sure about RH.

She loved North & South though!

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 07/02/2011 16:24

Hmm. Depends very much on the child, I would have thought. Because the violence in RH is for the most part quite cartoonish, TechnoGirl hasn't been bothered by it and I don't think she'd have been bothered by it at 6 - after all, it used to be screened at Saturday teatime so they expect children to be watching - but every child is different.

OP posts:
MrsLucasNorth · 07/02/2011 16:33

I imagine it would be ok for DD - have only seen a few episodes (ffwd to the good bits!) so wasn't sure if there would be any nasty surprises.

That JP video was just gorgeous. I was about to make a note of and post my fave clips but realised that pretty much everything from 2.00 onwards was totally wibblesome. For major thud factor though, I have to say 3.33 definitely had the desired effect.

TheSmallPrint · 07/02/2011 17:04

3.33 I'm finding it quite scary the effect some images have on me!

Theresaholeinyourmind · 07/02/2011 17:20

Another Fix You blockbuster there, thanks you much for winkling it out of the archive, Techno.

I fnd it all quite scary, too, Small. And a bit of a miracle. Who would have thunk it? Shock Blush Grin

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 07/02/2011 17:56

It is very wibblesome, I agree, and that's without really knowing anything about JP apart from what I've seen in the BWWMD and I Am Not A Horse. In part, I think that's because the song already carries all the associations from repeated viewings of the Lucas and Period Gentlemen Fix Yous. And the bit that you are singling out for its wibblesomeness coincides with that heart-rending line about tears run down your face when you lose something you can't replace.

::sniff::

I need an antidote.

Now sleeps the crimson petal, now the white;
Nor waves the cypress in the palace walk;
Nor winks the gold fin in the porphyry font:
The fire-fly wakens: waken thou with me.

Now droops the milkwhite peacock like a ghost,
And like a ghost she glimmers on to me.

Now lies the Earth all Danaë to the stars,
And all thy heart lies open unto me.

::sniffs again::

PassTheTwiglets · 07/02/2011 18:02

TwigletGirl is coming up to 8 and she is quite sensitive/ The violence wasn't really a problem in RH but there are some bits that I thought would be too upsetting for her and which I fast forwarded through. For example, she didn't see the baby in the forest bit but I wouldn't have wanted her to watch that.

I hear you, Theresa - here's to miracles! :)

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 07/02/2011 18:02

I know most of you will not like this, but .

Theresaholeinyourmind · 07/02/2011 18:08

Twiigy, they're playing our tune Grin

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 07/02/2011 18:12

Tee hee

OP posts:
Theresaholeinyourmind · 07/02/2011 18:17

Oh, I do love that poem, Techno, but it's hardly an anecdote to the wibblesomeness of JP and Fix You.
You need something more like
Clumpy boots, big sword, Sorted!

The Fix You proliferation is fascinating, What else will we unearth?

Theresaholeinyourmind · 07/02/2011 18:20

LOL @ Mr Tornton. I suppose non-native speakers of English have problems with their ''th''s dough. Or zough.

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 07/02/2011 18:30

Twigs, when I say the motherboard I am referring to C19 (the biggest and best RA messageboard!!).

The RA fanfic site which requires a login is (Ok I'll spell it out) called Dreamerfiction. You have to be recommended to join as it contains fiction with mature themes - it's just to avoid underage people joining it.

Wattpad is a general fanfic site but some RA fanfic authors are publishing their stuff there, usually it is already published elsewhere.

There is a lot more RA fanfic on DF than on Wattpad, that said much of the DF is published elsewhere as well eg on livejournal, but some is only published on DF.

Is this confusing? Sorry if it is. There is also plenty fanfic on C19 too and some on the two AA boards).

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 07/02/2011 18:31

I dunno, Theresa, I think the spiritual and uplifting Tennyson is a pretty good antidote to JP firing his machine gun at all and sundry. But, yes, the wibbling continues.

Ah, those Supermassive Black Boots (my, grandma, what big feet you've got). And the Supermassive Sharp Sword. And the Supersaucy Apple Biting. I can see why your sang is no longer froid.

OP posts:
Theresaholeinyourmind · 07/02/2011 18:43

Ah, yes, now I understand about the antidote, Techno, it works very well against Supermassive Heckler and Koch.

But not against a pair of vivid blue eyes, a cupid's bow upper lip and a nose like the prow of a Viking longship.
