I suppose you are right, Flowers, Guy is a very naughty knight. But he looks so good in black leather and out of it that I would forgive him absolutely anything much.

I used the word obscenity in the sense of the cynical exploitation of the feminine weakess for a bit of romance and glamour to brighten up her humdrum existence. As you well know.

asmallbunchofflowers · 06/01/2011 19:18

Really, Theresa?

But I do understand the irresistible allure of the sharp (un)dressed man. Really I do.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 06/01/2011 19:31

What else could I mean, Flowers? Unless you would like to apply it to an overdue interest in a narrow range of examples of male pulchritude as illustrated in certain visual media.

As I remember it, the legal definition of obscenity is liable to corrupt or deprave. So, actually, I think the Academy is in the clear, as none of the visual media here can be said to be obscene and anyway we are not capable of any further corruption.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 06/01/2011 20:17

So then, obscene used in a colloquial rather than legal sense.

I suppose I am depraved, given my interest in big swords, leather, etc. But surely no one else is. A more refined bunch of ladies you could never wish to meet.

asmallbunchofflowers · 06/01/2011 20:21

None of this is depravity. It is the Quest for Knowledge, Beauty and Truth.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 06/01/2011 20:36

''It is the Quest for Knowledge, Beauty and Truth.''
So what do you think of it so far?

Personally I think we've made a start, but there's a long way to go.

asmallbunchofflowers · 06/01/2011 20:40

I think it has been and continues to be a hoot. So, is this quest likely to take us to infinity and beyond?

StripeyMoon · 06/01/2011 20:54

Evening ladies, glad you liked the vid flowers, I am not a simply red fan but actually really liked the song ( and obviously the visuals Grin).

I have spent most of the afternoon browsing The basement instead of working. I did end up watching some Ros clips, she was a great character I wish they had kept her.

I also spent quite a while laughing out loud at Miranda, I dont normally like slapstick humour but she really cracks me up. Grin

asmallbunchofflowers · 06/01/2011 21:08

Hi, Stripey. Do you work from home? Just wondering how you disguise an afternoon in the basement as work.

Yes, Ros was a wholly admirable woman, although I did not envy her her life (or death). Miranda, on the other hand, is a goddess to the extent that I even follow her on Twitter.

StripeyMoon · 06/01/2011 21:16

Yes Flowers, I set up my own company a while ago after spending many years working for others. It means I get to trawl t'internet when bored but also means that work does not get done and subsequently I don't get paid!

I am glad I'm not alone in the Miranda worship, I don't do Twitter but if I did I am sure I would follow her.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 06/01/2011 21:18

I was tremendously impressed by Ros too. I took to her the first time I saw her. I do envy her her competence, cool, power to think on her feet and combats skills.
Not to mention her slim figure. Also the fact that she is so attractive and played as very attractive though not in a conventionally beautiful way.

I wouldn't mind being her, in short, if she had a less challenging life and job.

Miranda is the new thing in comedy, I believe. We haven't got round to her yet, here. but if she gets the thumbs up from you ladies she must be a class act.

Stripey, your Guy vid was lovely indeed but why did I find myself blubbing halfway through?

asmallbunchofflowers · 06/01/2011 21:22

Ah. So how are the plans for the art deco splendours of the Armitage Auditorium and Theresa's air conditioned viewing room on the banks of the Limpopo getting on?

Miranda has been in other things, I gather, but it's only since she's had her own series that we have been worshipping at the shrine watching.

asmallbunchofflowers · 06/01/2011 21:26

Will this get past Customs, Theresa? .

StripeyMoon · 06/01/2011 21:32

Um er yes um it's um er nearly finished Flowers honest .

Theresa if you like Morcambe and Wise I suspect you will like Miranda. I have only seen her own show and doing some chat shows and HIGNFY but she reels you in quite quickly, even DH likes her and he is Very Hard To Please.

I think your crying at the vid may just be caused by frustration the beautiful imagery. Grin

asmallbunchofflowers · 06/01/2011 21:36

There's no need to hurry, Stripey - it'll be worth the wait. Reaching the Armitage Auditorium could be part of the Quest; we may never get there but the journey will be interesting. With, cough, beautiful scenery.

StripeyMoon · 06/01/2011 21:36

Grin Grin Grin

And of course the added bonus of Gary Preston, the lovely Tom Ellis.

StripeyMoon · 06/01/2011 21:37

Oh that was meant for the Miranda clip!

asmallbunchofflowers · 06/01/2011 21:40

Is one supposed to have heard of Tom Ellis, except as Gary?

StripeyMoon · 06/01/2011 21:47

He was in something else and is married to tamsin outhwaite, that's all I know.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 06/01/2011 21:47

Back , having duly laughed socks off. Oh, Miranda is wonderful. She reminds me of a friend, said friend not being so funny or prone to cock-ups, but the manner is so similar.

"I think your crying at the (Guy)vid may just be caused by frustration the beautiful imagery".

I fear you are right, Stripes. On both counts

Theresaholeinyourmind · 06/01/2011 21:57

I'm a bit like

asmallbunchofflowers · 06/01/2011 21:58

Welcome to the Miranda fold, Theresa.

I think it's been a while since we have studied , which is perhaps worth another look. Of course, this is not my particular area of research so I await colleagues' more informed opinion.

StripeyMoon · 06/01/2011 22:00

I think the appealing thing is that we can all identify with Miranda somewhere in our lives.

StripeyMoon · 06/01/2011 22:04

Wah! I can't open YT on the phone! It let. Me have Miranda but the last two.
