Oyster - my dad has just finished the Burning Lands, so I've got that lined up already!

Twigs - I liked Fish too - at the time I was working with a guy who had a very similar personality. He was great fun although how he got away with some of the stuff he used to come out with I'll never know...Grin!

Well, I have just had A Find. No less than The Pale Horseman among some books I picked up in the UK a while back. It was a cheap do from a bargain books shop, so I suppose that only counts as charity to myself. I'd put it on one side thinking I needed to read the first book in the series beforehand, and totally forgotten about it. All this before I realised that I would need to know about it

PrairieOyster · 29/12/2010 17:59

Fancy a cupcake?. I do!

Just had a browse on Amazon. Has anyone bought that complete set of RH titled Robin Hood: The Legend Returns or does anyone know something about it? -- The one that is all three seasons for £24.56 and looks as if it's Dutch. Confused

MrsLucasNorthPole · 29/12/2010 19:34

Right it's story time for DD then I'm off out for the evening. But first it's story time for the Academy - hope you enjoy....Grin

In London the Academy Christmas Party continued apace, whilst in the North Pole, Nick had dispatched John Thornton to join his other creations and was anxiously loading yet another disc into the machine?s control panel. He had come to the conclusion that with such an enthusiastic bunch of ladies, it would be as well to have a few extras to hand, and working on the theory that it would be rare woman who?d turn down a fit bloke in Speedos, he had selected Series 5 of Cold Feet from the pile and set the machine to do its work, cranking the speed up a notch or two to take into account the extra time involved.

He was eyeing his decanter and debating whether or not another whisky would put him into ?drunk in charge of a reindeer? territory, when the phone rang. It was Colin, the hair and costume elves had worked their magic on Ralph apparently and he needed Nick to inspect him on the factory floor in case there were any additional ?tweaks? required. Ensuring the cat was nowhere to be seen and the that the machine was chugging happily away, Nick pottered off to inspect his team?s handiwork.

The machine continued with quiet efficiency in Nick?s absence. A pair of tanned legs were roughly at knee height when the door handle turned slowly and the office door creaked open.

Mary, Nick?s wife, rarely visited his inner sanctum. If he was holed up in the office he was generally hard at work or having a fit of the grumps, and to be honest she wasn?t that interested in the finer points of the business. She was quite happy to let him get on with it while she maintained the living areas and cooked for the staff. As far as Mary was concerned it gave her plenty of opportunity to enjoy her vast collection of audio books without constant interruptions and meant she wasn?t subject to hours of the Aurora Sports Channel. There was, she thought grimly, only so much elf tossing and husky racing a woman could stand.

It took her a few moments to notice the machine, as it was positioned slightly round the corner from the door and not in immediate view. When she saw it?s contents however, she did a double-take and went over to check it out.

By now an equally tanned and muscular pair of thighs were taking shape in the chamber. Mary was transfixed, and when the Speedos began to appear, leaving almost nothing to the imagination, she was very nearly overcome completely, and had to reach for a quick swig from Nick?s decanter to steady herself.

As the whisky burned down her throat to her stomach, she watched a set of toned, firm abs appear in the chamber and failed to suppress a wicked grin. As much as she loved Nick, he had been spending so much time working lately that she could hardly remember what he looked like, and when she did it was only too apparent how much he?d let himself go over the last few decades. Mary, contrary to the commonly held perception of her, had always looked after herself and was in fine shape for a woman of her age. Surely, she thought to herself, I deserve a little extra something for Christmas too?.

When the chamber had finally finished creating Lee, he looked around and through the glass completely unfazed. To be frank, he wasn?t the sharpest tool in the workshop, so it didn?t occur to him that anything untoward could be going on, as it had to the other men.
Then he spotted Mary, eyeing him up and down lasciviously. He immediately returned the favour and winked at her saucily. She opened the chamber, and he stepped into the room.
?You can?t be very warm in just those,? she said softly, ?Nice view though??
?The view?s not too bad from here either,? he replied in his cheeky Northern accent, ?Perhaps you could help m warm up. I might need to borrow that wrap for a start.?
He unwound the velvet wrap from around her shoulders and let it fall to the floor in a pool of shimmering crimson. He fingers lightly traced her collarbone, and up her neck, before pulling her face towards his and kissing her gently but passionately.
Mary had no choice but to wrap her arms around his naked torso and quivered, but was not so insensible that she failed to notice the time. She slipped her hand into Lee?s, ?Quick, come with me,? she whispered with a twinkle in her eyes, ?I?ve a kitchen table that needs looking at??

Love it, MrsP! Oh poor Santa though, how can you cheat on Santa? :) Especially love Mary's "vast collection of audiobooks"! And the kitchen table was a master-stroke :)

Theresahollyinyourmind · 29/12/2010 19:56

Mrs Santa helped herself to a rather large staff discount there

Drunk in charge of a reindeer! And the elf-tossing and husky racing on the sports channel. ROTFL No wonder Mary was a bit restless. Oh, and the further mention of the pesky cat. Hope Santa locks up Tiddles for the next few runs. Xmas Grin

Thank you, MrsLNP.

PrairieOyster · 29/12/2010 20:23

Excellent MrsLNP - also could resist a snigger at the elf tossing and husky racing... More please!!

Teri, I've seen that RH box set in Amazon too and whilst that is what I ideally want to buy, I've also hesitated because it's Dutch. Also I wonder if all the extras on the separate season box sets are included. So I'm still waiting and thinking on this one, hopefully the separate season sets will reduce in price and/or a UK box set will be issued which is clearer about the content. That said, I think a lot of the extras have been posted on YT.

PrairieOyster · 29/12/2010 20:24

Couldn't resist a snigger... That is

Theresahollyinyourmind · 29/12/2010 20:37

Hmm, looks like I shall have to play a waiting game too, then Oyster. No one seems to have commented on it on Amazon, either, do they? Frustrating.

I have been thinking again about the elf-tossing. if they are the tradional teeny ones a la Santa's helpers, it might be boring, watching their caps fly off and their bells jingle.. But if they are the larger and hotter LOTR type ones, I envisage it as a more refined version of all-in wrestling and not so bad a watch if there is nothing much else on.

PassTheTwiglets · 29/12/2010 21:29

So, Lord Damerel. CRIKEY.

Theresahollyinyourmind · 29/12/2010 21:32

Crikey good or bad, Twiggy?

PassTheTwiglets · 29/12/2010 21:38

Crikey amazing, Holly :) What that man cannot do with his voice.... wibblethud does not even begin to describe. I literally went weak at the knees whlist stirring the risotto this evening because I was so shocked at the thudness of it all! Honestly, I actually stumbled slightly!

PassTheTwiglets · 29/12/2010 21:43

Well looky-look at what you can buy on amazon :)

Also, The Impressionists is only £2.99 i anyone's interested. Personally, I would pay an extra fiver to get the version without the squirrel :o I am adding stuff to my amazon wishlist (have a birthday coming soon) but wondering how much I can get away with. Have just added Cold Feet S5 to the list (thanks for the reminder with the latest chapter, MrsLNP!) DH and I really liked Cold Feet so I could get away with that but it will seem odd that I haven't also added S1, 2, 3 and 4 as well :)

Theresahollyinyourmind · 29/12/2010 21:45
Theresahollyinyourmind · 29/12/2010 21:49

Oh, your favourite, Twigs! I dare you to write a customer review.

PassTheTwiglets · 29/12/2010 21:56

No, Holly, not heard 'rub my feet' - that just sounds a bit gross, frankly :)

Oh I am ROFLING at some of the photos you can buy on amazon. Look at these, they are hysterical...

Auditioning for game show host

What in the name of ARSE?

Wheeeee, look at me, I'm an aeroplane!!!

PassTheTwiglets · 29/12/2010 22:01

But do you double-dare me?!

Theresahollyinyourmind · 29/12/2010 22:04

I would like to do something really painful to the idiot that did that to him!

''Rub my feet'' is a bit gross I suppose, but that's Guy for you. He doesn't do refined.

Theresahollyinyourmind · 29/12/2010 22:06

I wouldn't want to get you in trouble, Twiggy. But you could at least write a complaint email to them about those last three photos.

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 29/12/2010 22:07

Evenin' all.

Had a most amusing conversation with The Poet last night.

The Scene: Venetia has been lying around (hiding in plain sight) for days now. The Poet picks it up and peers at it.

"What's this?" quoth he.

"It's my new audio book".

"What did you buy that for?"

"Well, Annie's always waxing lyrical about Georgette Heyer and my MN chums tell me this one's very good".

Theresahollyinyourmind · 29/12/2010 22:11

Is The Impressionists really that cheap, Missy? Twiggy?

Poor you, re Venetia. Rumbled! Will he keep pulling your leg now about it? That's the sort of thing Mr H does when he catches me out in any weakness.

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 29/12/2010 22:28

Seems so, Holly. I've just bought it for £2.99 with free delivery. You see, when it comes to Amazon

I'm jist a girl who cain't say no,
I'm in a turrible fix
I always say "come on, le's go"
Jist when I orta say nix!

Oh, yes, I have been much teased in recent weeks by both The Poet and Offspring. Yet it is they who have been insistent on watching RH every night.

While we're thinking about the great Hollywood musicals, .

PassTheTwiglets · 29/12/2010 22:32

Teasing is better than disapproval at least, Missy!

Damn, the Prosecco has finished, any Chat.Giz. going?
