Welcome to the new common room! Grab yourself some Twiglets and a glass of Chateau Gisborne or some Polish Cordial and come on in - the water's lovely!

Ha ha, You should have seen me snorting with laughter and bopping along to that.

Hey, I said a man , not a petulant little fuckwit!

Great fun, but not enough Guy.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 04/12/2010 00:21

Oh, your Johnny is so refined and Guy is such a rough diamond. Or at times a lump of coal.Sometimes I despair, I do, I really do. Was there a link there that got lost btw, or am I being thick?

asmallbunchofflowers · 04/12/2010 00:24

Yes, I know that there aren't many Guy moments but those there are, are very choice. Even I was impressed when he came riding out of the mist.

I have a vague recollection that at least two of the fanatics people on these threads said they had signed up to MN just so that they could participate. Was it you, Theresa? And who else? Has it, ahem, been worthwhile?

Righty-ho. Am quite exhausted by tonight's Armitageathon. Off to beddy-byes.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 04/12/2010 00:28

Are you tickled , missus?

No, I signed up for something else, but stayed to look round in general and sort of remembered RA's name so decided to explore. And the rest as they say, was history.

good night and sweet Milton dreams

asmallbunchofflowers · 04/12/2010 00:37

No, there was no link - that was my counterpart to your comment about Guy as your bit on the side - but if you would like to see another painting (somewhat in the manner of Winterhalter) of a handsome and determined Victorian man of business I am happy to oblige. Don't overestimate my dear John's refinement; it is because he is so conscious of his lack of graces that he hires Mr Hale as a tutor, after all, and his manner is sometimes a little uncouth. Yet he has nobility of spirit, nonetheless.

[[http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/nands/album/N&SPromo/album/N&SPromo15.jpg Tell me I'm crazy, maybe I know,
But I can't help lovin' that man of mine!]]

asmallbunchofflowers · 04/12/2010 00:39

You are naughty, Theresa. MrsLN will have convulsions when she sees that. In a good way.

Bodenbabe · 04/12/2010 07:40

Well now, if I'd known we were going to break out the Abba CDs last night I'd have stayed up a bit later! That video was lots of fun. I concur, Flowers - my oh my on the 'riding out of the mist'. Shame the song wasn't called A Guy After Midnight but I suppose that's not alliterative enough :)

I always liked which is in the style of the last one but it also doesn't have enough Guy. I've always liked this song for some reason (Flowers, you should like the band name!)

Theresaholeinyourmind · 04/12/2010 12:01

Morning all. Just to let you know I couldn't open that vid, Boden, not for want of trying. Copyright ishoos again.

On the subject of dear Mr Thornton, I don't think it's social graces that are the mark of a true gentleman. It's the nobility of spirit that Flowers so rightly refers to. He is always honest and true to his feelings, even if that feeling is anger sometimes..

I feel the same is just as much valid for Nicholas Higgins. They are both ''nature's gentleman''

Unlike... Well, you know who.
But that riding out of the mist bit was certainly a Lancelot moment.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 04/12/2010 17:17

As it must be a busy day for everyone, here's a bit of light relief. I remember a while back there was a question as to whether Dawn French had snogged George Clooney. Here's an interview about her which may prove illuminating.

More light relief, slightly less off topic. A nice little bit about

asmallbunchofflowers · 04/12/2010 19:45

Evening all.

Just back from a hard day's, err, stuff.

I am glad that you agree, Theresa, that some rough edges vis a vis etiquette and being 'in trade' do not disqualify my dear Mr Thornton from the appellation of gentleman. I agree, too, that Mr Higgins is a gentleman and vow henceforth to cease the social distinction and call him Mr too. And, curiously, Guy is of a higher social rung than either of them.

I know that Dawn French has kissed Mr Clooney because I saw it happen on TV. There is a YT clip of the Parkinson show on which (I am sure) it happened but it ends before the Moment.

I love that clip about the making of Dibley (why did I never watch Dibley? When I see it now it looks very funny and charming). I especially love the idea of Dawn French making Mr Armitage do extra kissing rehearsals.

So. Do we like our vids set to dance tunes? If so, here's some course material from .

Theresaholeinyourmind · 04/12/2010 20:49

Oh, stuff? Stuff stuff, I say, I had far too much of it today myself.

After watching the Dibley vid I posted and a few more, I am seriously thinking of ordering it! I was fascinated to see how Harry almost bumbles along charmingly, a la Hugh Grant, then all of a suddy, he lights his afterburners, or engages warp drive, or whatever, and smoulders vocally leaving you gasping for breath.

That was a good vid, Flowers! Lots of old favourite shots to a snappy beat. Icluding the famous pseudo-blissed out shot of last night. Now I would like the explanation to be someone has just introduced him to chocolate. A coffee truffle, maybe, for the double whammy of two novel taste sensations in one.
Dancing is a thing I wouldn't have thought Guy would indulge willingly.

MrsLucasNorth · 04/12/2010 21:01

Will have to wait and watch the Dawn French interview on PC later as can't get it on phone.

'the voice' is definitely one of Harry's outstanding features.

Was browsing Amazon while making dinner earlier and 'Between the Sheets' slipped into my basket and through the checkout. Can't think how that happened...Grin

SIL popped in this afternoon - she is of a like mind, which surprised me as she's a bit older than me and a real high flyer - had thought she was above adolescent lusting after hunky actors but apparently not!

asmallbunchofflowers · 04/12/2010 21:04

A propos Mr Grant. . I think I've said before that the reason Harry doesn't set me on fire is that he seems so much like a Hugh Grant character. And I had the same thought about the character played by Dan Stevens in the 24 hour play. And then the penny dropped. They are all speaking the words of Richard Curtis and, much as I esteem Richard Curtis, he does have a certain schtick that appears in all his works and makes them all alike. But I only know Harry from the YT compilations, where I've seen no evidence of Warp Factor Smouldering. This, of course, is .

No, I can't envisage Guy dancing, although I am sure if would be a fine sight if ever he had. If you want to introduce him to a new foodie experience, how about a chocolate-covered potato?

Theresaholeinyourmind · 04/12/2010 21:07

Your SIL is obviously a woman of taste, Mrs LN.
I was looking at Amazon, too, earlier, and they were holding all sorts of delights up to dazzle me. The temptation! I did though finally find out how to turn my browsing history off, to avoid detection embarassment.

MrsLucasNorth · 04/12/2010 21:12

I find the whole Sense & Sensibility reference/reaction to proposal thing in VoD really offputting - it's totally overdone and really spoils what should be a lovely scene imho.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 04/12/2010 21:18

It's just how he drops his voice an octave or so, Flowers, and purrs in his throat. Not the smoulder eyes, like your Mr Thornton does so well. but enough to discombobulate yours truly.

Little song for Geraldine:

Im just wild about Harry and Harry's wild about me; The heavenly blisses of his kisses fill me with extasy. He's sweet just like sugar candy and just like honey from a bee; oh, Im just wild about Harry
and he's just wild about,
he can't do without,
he's just wild about me

I don't think chocolate and potatoes are a particularly sensuous combination, although of course that's just a personal view.
So a little Death by Chocolate after the Pommes de terre dauphinoise

Theresaholeinyourmind · 04/12/2010 21:20

Maybe you're right, Mrs LN. I did sort of grok the screaming mind you Grin Lots of good other bits though.

MrsLucasNorth · 04/12/2010 21:22

You've described the voice perfectly Theresa!

Am wibbling just thinking about it Blush

I think the idea of the S&S business was fine - just a bit too much and a bit too long.

asmallbunchofflowers · 04/12/2010 21:23

Express delivery for Theresa

Theresaholeinyourmind · 04/12/2010 21:30

Flowers, you read depths of my mind I myself am unwilling to admit to going to go sometimes.

asmallbunchofflowers · 04/12/2010 21:33

Oh Lordy, what does that say about me then?

And don't you just love that that's stocked in the kitchen department?

Theresaholeinyourmind · 04/12/2010 21:41

I think I need a few years in a cell with hairshirt too, after reflecting that that would constitute the little death by chocolate.

Just to punish myself I have just scourged myself with a Guy vid sporting a

MrsLucasNorth · 04/12/2010 21:46

little death by chocolate...

Occurred to me too. You're not the only one here with a filthy mind (but you knew that already) Wink

Theresaholeinyourmind · 04/12/2010 21:51

looks like you'll have to join the convent, Mrs LN

asmallbunchofflowers · 04/12/2010 21:51

What a combination, Guy and the Walrus of Love!

Just wondered whether you'd thought of taking Guy to, ahem, a cocktail bar for some new taste experiences, Theresa?
