Welcome to the new common room! Grab yourself some Twiglets and a glass of Chateau Gisborne or some Polish Cordial and come on in - the water's lovely!

Or receive some help in removing their cravats, in some versions of the story.

Theresahollyinyourmind · 08/12/2010 19:45

Thanks, Oyster, for all the info re 19C -sounds like fun and Twitter still sounds scary to little me.

Oh, I say, Missy, I just checked out those lyrics properly for the first time and they are rather ooo.

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 08/12/2010 19:48

Which lyrics? Hungry like a wolf?

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 08/12/2010 19:50

... but if you're looking for

Theresahollyinyourmind · 08/12/2010 19:55

Theresa is easily shocked, Missy, worry not, The lyrics were just rather evocative. Nothing like our new best friend Lady G. of course, who calls spades spades.

I'm listening to Alanis Morrisette singing Let's Do It. Seems to me that Cole Porter said it all first, and with rather more wit than Dr Durand Durand.

PrairieOyster · 08/12/2010 20:13

I enjoyed that Impressionists video someone posted a few pages back. I actually enjoyed watching that series and found it very educational - and some very pretty scenes recreating famous paintings which more than distract from the small squirrel that appeared to have taken up residence on the end of Mr A's chin at one point.

Theresahollyinyourmind · 08/12/2010 20:13

I suppose it's a matter of mood really. Cole Porter is light and witty and intelligent but sometimes something a bit darker is good.

The something kinda oooh vid lives up too its name. Ooooh

I'm going to have to take a break, RL calls, but you know me, I'll be back later.

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 08/12/2010 20:16

Would this be the squirrel, Oyster? Even for a facial hair fancier such as myself, it's a bit de trop.

PrairieOyster · 08/12/2010 20:16

Sorry for blasting you with C19 - was answering a question from earlier - I think Boden posted it.

Theresahollyinyourmind · 08/12/2010 20:17

Was that him in the Santa Claus beard, Oyster? I seemed to recognise the nose, but then my eyes are playing me up today.

PrairieOyster · 08/12/2010 20:17

That's the squirrel though there are much more unflattering pictures around.

Lotster · 08/12/2010 20:24

Thanks for the advice!

I have also been listening to an audio cd of Dorian Gray when in the kitchen, it is as gay as a window! Methinks perhaps I need to proceed straight to a cold hard injection of Guy to receive the full effect... I am looking forward to "beg!"

PrairieOyster · 08/12/2010 20:25

No it's not him in the Santa Claus beard - Mr A played the younger Monet. Julian Glover was the older Monet.

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 08/12/2010 20:33

Where do you live, Lotster? Maybe we could have a national network of MNers in bivvy bags outside their local Homebase. Theresa could even stake out the Limpopo branch, just in case. Who knows who we might spot.

PrairieOyster · 08/12/2010 20:36

Quite taken with something kinda oooh! Added to favourites!

PrairieOyster · 08/12/2010 20:38

When working in a pet shop, my sister encountered Brian May once - that impressed my SO no end!

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 08/12/2010 20:38

Yes, it has a certain je ne sais quoi, doesn't it, Oyster? Can't remember who first found it, but it's testimony to the diligence of the study here.

Theresahollyinyourmind · 08/12/2010 20:54

Hi all, the Oooh one is awesome in its ooohfulness, that's for certain.

There are quite a few on that page that are worthy of careful examination.

I am relieved to hear it wasn't Mr Armitage behind the really big beard as the voice was so awful I hoped it wasn't him.

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 08/12/2010 21:02

For anyone who likes their musicals to be truly louche, I have just discovered that the Donmar Warehouse Cabaret with Alan Cumming and Jane Horrocks is on YT.

Lotster · 08/12/2010 21:03

Smallbunch- Kent/Sussex Borders- I've got two counties covered Xmas Hmm

Theresahollyinyourmind · 08/12/2010 21:14

Everything seems to be on YT, I've just been checking out Edith Piaf.

Do you really think I have any chance of a sighting out here, in the great grey-green greasy Limpopo branch? It's just that sleeping under canvas is such a pain, there are snakes and the mozzies are quite dreadful.

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 08/12/2010 21:21

But, Theresa, what if he's doing a little bit of filming for Strike Back on the banks of the Limpopo and decides to pop into the Homebase trading post for a Christmas tree, some tinsel and other sine qua nons of an African Christmas?

Remember the Boy Scouts motto - Be Prepared.

And, look, I did take one for the team. The credit card bill has just arrived for my evening at the Old Vic.

But it was worth every penny and, as the sage Sir Harry Pearce says, it was my turn.

PrairieOyster · 08/12/2010 21:23

I kid you not - have a look at this which appears in the Daily Telegraph today
