Have just remembered that The Poet has a blue boiler suit in which he occasionally (like, once every decade) does a spot of DIY.

That phrase is tricky, Theresa. That's why I go back to check every day or so although, like Calais, it should be etched on my heart.

Boden - my 'puter doesn't like your photo and won't open it. Bah humbug.

Neither does mine, Boden. I thought the river water must have got into it. But obviously not

Aha. Now my 'puter will open the photo. C'est magnifique.

Scrubs up quite nicely, doesn't he?

And my computer falls into line too. Oh lordy. Definitely prime quality at both ends

asmallbunchofflowers · 29/11/2010 18:12

Is there a doctor in the house? A lady here seems to be in respiratory failure.

OP posts:
Theresaholeinyourmind · 29/11/2010 18:16

Quick

asmallbunchofflowers · 29/11/2010 18:18

She's in shock but responding well to the hand-holding and forehead-stroking treatment

OP posts:
Theresaholeinyourmind · 29/11/2010 18:24

I think he could cure the common cold or a rainy day

No no doctor, this swoon's the good sort. I might respond well to being carried over to this chair in your strong arms, however.

Poor Dr Track, he must be kept awfully busy.

asmallbunchofflowers · 29/11/2010 18:41

I have to say, his bedside manner looks impeccable.

OP posts:
PrairieOyster · 29/11/2010 18:51

I've never become acquainted with the good Doctor Track. Must make an appointment some time...

StripeyMoon · 29/11/2010 18:55

my, those photos are just so delicious Grin.

asmallbunchofflowers · 29/11/2010 19:04

Oyster - I think Boden has taken one for the team, so to speak, and has watched it all. The rest of us just search on YT.

This has just been sent over from the History of Art department. A painting in the style of Caravaggio

Thanks for the photo explanation, Flowers, it all makes sense now! I do remember the stunt-bottom discussion now but I hadn't connected it with Theresa's episode from last night .

Re. Doctor Track, I've seen eps 1-3 and just have ep4 to go. Waiting for a DH night out as no way would he watch that :) He is utterly beautiful in it and there are some very swoonsome scenes but not much substance to it. It cost about £2.50 from amazon but I wouldn't bother otherwise.

Out of the mouths of babes and sucklings: Literary criticism from Offspring

[Unprompted, during her bath]

[Thoughtfully]

Mummy, I've noticed something about Mr Armitage's characters. In Robin Hood and North and South he loves the heroine and wants to get her to love him too. He realises that he either has to become good or die.

Oh, what have I done to my poor child?

MrsLucasNorth · 29/11/2010 19:30

My DD is not that bothered about characters plural,

Like you Flowers she only has eyes for Mr Thornton!

asmallbunchofflowers · 29/11/2010 19:33

You are obviously a Superlative Mother, MrsLN! (And I have been known to peek at others, if only to confirm that no other fictional 190 year old man can measure up to Mr Thornton).

OP posts:
Bodenbabe · 29/11/2010 20:15

MrsLN, I love how MissLN called him "Mr Armitage" - how polite and respectful :) You are clearly instilling her with literary critiquing skills at an early age. Is this the DD who's about my daughter's age, btw? (7yo). If so, wow she's perceptive for her age! My daughter is still laughing at poo jokes.

asmallbunchofflowers · 29/11/2010 20:29

Boden - Are you talking about my Offspring? She calls him Richard Armitage (generally pulling a face as she does so) but except when I Forget Myself I try to call him Mr Armitage. Other than that, those are her words. She's slightly older than your daughter and is embarrassingly fond of fart jokes but she does seem to have inherited her father's precocious talent for all things literary. Also, I think the last couple of Harry Potter books and films have taught her more than I realised about lurve. She thinks it is hilarious but fascinating when Hermione tells Ron "I am sure Harry's kissing technique is more than satisfactory".

Oh how sweet. Lots of young ladies with excellent taste and discernment. Round here no one has eyes for anything else but sport.

As you see I didn't expire on the chaise longue under the good doctor or perhaps I should rephrase that. I just had to swallow a large dose of RL. I need a spoonful of sugar to make that medicine go down

asmallbunchofflowers · 29/11/2010 21:14

at Theresa being on the chaise longue under the doctor. Might this help?

OP posts:
asmallbunchofflowers · 29/11/2010 21:16

Yells Switch on BBC2 now (if you can) for discussion of Victorian millowners and their social responsibility.

OP posts:
Theresaholeinyourmind · 29/11/2010 21:24

I knew I should rephrase that, Flowers! But the little sickroom gift was much appreciated. GrinMade a nice change from grapes.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 29/11/2010 21:26

No examples of socially resposible Victorian mill-owners shown so far?
Providng ventilating wheels and nourishing stewe at lunchtime?
