And here are our study materials for the evening. Not sure if we've had them before, but have tried to find new ones - is getting trickier Grin!

Enjoy!

MadameOvary - As you will see once you have had the opportunity, patience and stamina to read back, we generally manage a tone of lofty academic discourse, drawing on our knowledge of History, Art, Film and Literature in order to critique and appreciate the Oeuvre. On occasion, though, the best critique that anyone can manage is phwooarr.

Boden - You and I weren't coming in here this morning, remember? That first link, though, is a very fine set text from the module on Mourning Lucas. As for the second one, well. Do I deduce that you are a film editor? In which case, we should defer to you for all judgements of these vids as High Art. Why is it (do you think) that so many people choose soundtracks from vampire shows?

This set text comes from .

BodenBabe · 23/11/2010 12:17

It was more a moan than a gasp, last time - it was sort of "ohhhh... hem! ahem!" :o

Yes, please share the music!

I don't this for a job, no. I am a SAHM now with a 3yo and a 7yo. But in my previous life I used to work in the media, daahling. Didn't used to film edit but had to learn sound-editing.

BodenBabe · 23/11/2010 12:20

"Boden - You and I weren't coming in here this morning, remember?"

Um... I must have been kidnapped and drugged by a gorgeous spy in a black shirt into saying something so daft.

Flowers, ha ha, I love your module titles!

Advice wanted: Bear in mind that The Poet willing bought me North and South for my birthday, watches Robin Hood with me (at his instigation) and accompanied me to Sunday's gala. Will it be One Step Too Far if I put The Impressionists on my Christmas list?

BodenBabe · 23/11/2010 12:26

LOL, I meant to put in my post but forgot :o

Well I would say that as The Poet is well aware of your obsession taste in drama iw would be fine with it. He watches RH at his instigation? What a sweetie. Maybe he knows there's likely to be something in it for him later? :o I'm sure DH is also secretly looking forward to us watching S7/8 of Spooks :)

Right, going again now. The 3yo just asked me "Mummy, what would I do if I was a narwhal?" So I'd best go and give him some attention now.

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 23/11/2010 12:30

While doing the dusting in the basement, I came across another important text which should perhaps be added to the syllabus for .

Just as I prefer the vids which are all from one show, so I generally prefer those with moving images, but this one has gorgeous cinematography and is worthy (I believe) of the appellation Art.

MadameOvary · 23/11/2010 12:33

Boden - think narwhal is from Octonauts? DD loves it.Smile

the music is . Prepare to swoon!

Loving the set-text titles too, reminds me pleasantly of Uni Smile

Theresaholeinyourmind · 23/11/2010 12:33

Oh bother, I have missed the morning faculty meeting. I shall read up on the minutes.

Burberry, hmm. Special secret swoon here.

I am still missing out on that Womaniser clip, the sound downloaded but not the visuals so I have no idea what the 3. 03 moment entails. 'Snot fair

Dearie, dearie me, so the refined and lady-like Flowers is being corrupted by thoughts of naughty raunchy Guy?
It's all my fault

Take two doses of Mr Thornton and lie in a darkened room.

Glad you enjoyed our landmark study on the 12th century use of the imperative, Mme O
And glad to have you along for the Guy ride, too, Boden. GrinYes, the long hair is season 3 and I don't like it either, but think of how nice it would be to give him a haircut. And think youselves lucky you only get audible reactions to him, I have to hang onto the arm of the chair to stop myself shivering with, er, involuntary enthusiasm.

But enough of the Nottingham Follies.

Such lovely lttile details from your Big Adventure, Flowers. Am hugging myself with sheer delight at the good-naturedness and the comedy.

Will check out the course work asap. Toodle pip.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 23/11/2010 12:35

Oh, you're all back. Were you hiding behind the curtains?

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 23/11/2010 12:35

Thank you, Boden.

I have just noticed on Amazon that the things that people frequently buy with The Impressionists aren't learned books about Monet or Degas tea towels, they are Strike Back, North and South and Sparkhouse. Do we spot a theme here?

Theresaholeinyourmind · 23/11/2010 12:40

What about putting out some Strike Back and North and South tea towels, the revenue would be helpful for the Faculty ratafia and Polish Cordial fund

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 23/11/2010 12:40

Are you still there, Theresa? I should be going to lie down in the dark with Mr Thornton getting on with making something but the light is so poor at the mo that I can't really see what I'm doing. Hence the faffing about extended faculty meeting.

I'm not yet having naughty thoughts about Guy. I am appreciating why others do. 'S empathy, innit?

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 23/11/2010 12:44

Hmm. Not sure about wiping John Porter and his very large gun over the le Creuset, but there must be some scope for North and South cotton goods (made at Marlborough Mills). As well as the tea towels, how about the Miss Hale lace doily for a refined teatime or the Mr Thornton cravat, available in a range of colours?

Theresaholeinyourmind · 23/11/2010 12:48

Yup, Flowers, still here. It's amazing how much housework you can ignore when you put your mind to it.

So glad you have in fact managed not to succumb to Guy's dark lure. Be strong. Once you have, you are doomed

Now, to get stuck in to that Lucas module.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 23/11/2010 12:52

Fabulous merchandise, Dahling. maybe we should do china, so you can have the authentic teacups, with matching plates and three tier cake-stand.

For those of a more robust persuasion, chunky medieval wood platters carved from genuine Nottingham oak, and silver-look goblets

Theresaholeinyourmind · 23/11/2010 12:55

Look on our works, Ye Paste Tymes, and despair

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 23/11/2010 12:55

I find that using YT as a juke box

MadameOvary · 23/11/2010 12:55

If we're doing maerchandise, smelling salts are a must-have, surely?

MadameOvary · 23/11/2010 12:56

merchandise even

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 23/11/2010 12:56

I was just thinking the same, Theresa, about National Trust Gyfte Shoppes.

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 23/11/2010 12:59

Oh yes, MadameOvary, smelling salts and cushions for those prone to fainting are essential to our marketing drive.

And, lace-trimmed hankies, cologne with which to soak same, and parma violets.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 23/11/2010 13:01

Talking of Percy Bysshe, I rather like this for our Poetry Please list

on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown
And wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed.

Yes, smelling salts are a definite must. And lace trimmed hankies of course.

Authentic fine cotton floppy shirts

Amusing bonbonnieres shapes like pieces of medieval armour

MrsLucasNorth · 23/11/2010 13:01

Flowers - it such a shame you can't watch Strikeback - personally I'd love a bit of John Porter in my kitchen!
