AMA

My sibling is a celebrity AMA

zedtree · Yesterday 17:20

I won’t be saying who they are.

I recently spoke to a friend about it who
had lots of questions which lead to an interesting conversation, things I’d never said or thought about before.

When I was younger I used to feel incredibly jealous of them and had a very short and unsuccessful attempt at creating my own fame.

Now I’m older with my own dc and have seen the effects up close I definitely think the negatives out way the positives and it’s not something I would ever want for my children.

@SunwaysSystemsyoure right. I am actually bored waiting for my Sainsbury’s delivery
and I know I should hoover, but I can’t be bothered 😆

bitontheobtuse · Today 11:33

Re the reality tv thing, the OP said they had appeared on such, but did not say whether their sibling was on as a contestant or as a presenter.

And if the OP has had enough and doesn't come back, I don't blame them.

Exactly. It is clear that there is no celebrity sibling. Nobody fits the clues , including Price.

Nobody fits the clues?! There are loads of potential celebs this could be. Plus there are plenty of people I would recognise from the telly & have no idea how many siblings they have.

Fergie was in Its A Royal Knockout!

For me it’s generally to start to see the story begin to fall apart, not make sense or becoming completely farcical.

I watch TV or see a friend if i’m bored but I guess we are all different!

To try to work out who the sibling is, the guessing game is rather fun. I have come to the conclusion that OP is full of crap.

So it’s not boring because you are having a guessing game that you find fun 😆

they walk among us!

It was fun until people came on and started whining and complaining that the 'interesting' thread had been derailed.

MeandT · Today 11:52

Dear lord, can no-one think of a question that may be even vaguely interesting in its own right for @zedtree???

Here are some examples of who their sibling could be (but definitely isn't). There's a pretty wide spread of 'celebrities' most UK people would recognise without being an actor or singer 🙄

It isn't: Dermott O'Leary, Jamie Oliver, Will Carling, Chris Evans, Jimmy Carr. It's also not Fearne Cotton, Davina McCall, Rebecca Addlington, Sarah Millican, or Katie bloody Price.

Anyway!

My questions for AMA that isn't deadly boring or only aimed at outing who I am/they are:

  1. What was the car that was not sufficiently flash for them to get into? (this one made me chuckle ;)
  2. Is there a venue for a family get together they have flat out refused to consider (eg Harvester, Butlins, Peppa Pig World etc)?
  3. What has been the most annoyingly 'sleb throwaway comment they've made to you about something completely everyday without even registering what they were doing? (eg something in your fridge or piece of jewellery or where you are taking your immediate family on holiday)

Can anyone else help get the AMA back on track with some vaguely entertaining questions which aren't targeted at outing the individual?!?

Anonymouseposter · Today 11:54

I think this could be potentially interesting, learning what effects the publicity has on the life of the celebrity and the family.
It doesn’t matter who it is and she’s obviously not going to say.
The people moaning that it’s boring are the boring ones. Just read something else.

JacknDiane · Today 11:57

Have they got much more money than you op?

JollyCoralSeal · Today 12:01

Does this happen frequently in ‘real life’, OP? Something is ‘about’ you (i.e. this AMA was intended to be about your experience) but it ends up being about or focusing on your sibling, through no fault of yours or theirs? If so, how do you (and they?) feel about that and does it impact your relationship?

The AMA was never intended to be just about the OP's experience though.

Their first post talks about how the negatives of fame outweigh the positives. That is very much about the OP's sibling's experience and people have reasonably asked about that because of the OP mentioning it.

Daniella Westbrook is actually a decent shout, fits better than KP.

I think if you have a tv personality career it must be so much harder to maintain privacy than someone with an acting/music career.

A "personality" career is often dependent on perception and is more "on".

Acting and music careers can do a project or tour and then withdraw fully for long periods.

I have a summer home near an older A lister and they lead a very private normal, but affluent life.

They are friendly and chatty when we occasionally meet, but we do not socialise or anything like that.
They have raised their adult children hugely privately and I couldn't tell you a single thing about any of them that would have appeared in the media.

Clever actors do this from the get go.
They value their privacy zealously, whilst having the quiet confidence of their ability.
They seem to value quality of life ahead of their industry.

Digerydont · Today 12:23

Are you Lizzie Cundis sister?

I disagree. The OP’s first post describes something that they have learnt (and that has shaped their own life) through having a famous sibling, i.e. that having witnessed the pros and cons of fame close-up, they would not want fame for their children. They may not have had this realisation had they not had a famous sibling.

I can see how others could have read the first post differently. However, OP has since clarified that their ‘intention was to answer questions about my experience having a famous sibling’.

I’ll leave it there so as not to distract further from the AMA questions themselves.

But the OP cannot - and has not - describe(d) why they wouldn't want fame without talking specifically about their sibling's experiences. The sibling is intrinsic to the OP's experiences.

The OP may have cleared that their intention was to answer questions about their experience having a famous sibling, but their responses and posts don't fully support this; they've not answered non-invasive questions about their own experience and revealed certain things about their sibling and the sibling's children that they didn't have to do. e.g. the sibling and their children being unhappy is not about the OP's own personal experience.s

Why have you posted this if we won’t actually learn anything from this thread? I understand you don’t want to out your sibling or yourself, but we have no evidence for any of the things you’ve said here and everything you’ve said is very vague. We’ve learned nothing from your posts.

I think it’s for personal validation. I can imagine growing up with a successful sibling is hard. Op admits that in her younger days she was massively jealous and tried to follow the same career path with no success.
To me, it seems like op is pacifying that feeling of jealousy with a counter story that her life turned out to be better. I am not saying op is jealous but maybe every now and then then seeing sibling lead a financially secure and materially comfortable life in the current cost of living era, it’s natural to feel a bit envious about those comforts and in such moment op has created this thread to remind herself her life is better. This thread is about sibling rivalry/competition.

Yes, that could be it - that’s a good point. The other possibility that has crossed my mind is that OP is just an ordinary poster (like most of us) who doesn’t have a celebrity sibling or any connections to famous people and is using this thread to feel important and validated. So both possibilities suggest this is an opportunity for them to get validation.
