Have you read The Cognitive Behavioural Tsunami by Farhad Dalal?

No, I haven’t - I’ve just checked out a few book reviews online to get the jist -

I’ll need to read it properly. But it seems that he has some valid points re the NHS / marketability angle of CBT

however it is glaringly obvious that he is not knowledgeable about CBT as he asserts that CBT only treats the symptom -

CBT is about being able to place the symptoms in the context of a
formulation that encompasses historical/ longitudinal factors, the persons multi layered rules / beliefs, appraisals behind and perpetuated by symptoms -

he makes the common assumption that CBT is easy / superficial and can be applied to anything -

the tsunami of people self identifying as CBT practitioners, the tsunami of GP’s telling patients they just need a short course of CBT - usually delivered by poorly trained therapists who aren’t equipped sufficiently- is the true problem

Would CBT work well for anxiety and bipolar? Really struggling with anxiety side of things at the moment. Waking at 2am daily , imposter syndrome etc.

Yes, could well be helpful - as you have bipolar make sure you have a therapist sufficiently experienced to treat anxiety with complexity -
