Ask me anything.

@Arraminta It is about poverty and nutrition. Sorry you think that so boring that no-one should spend their time on it

I never said no one should spend any time on it. I just said they are three words that exemplify boredom to me.

If a stranger turned to me at a dinner party and said 'they had received a Belgian Trade Misson that week' I would know I was in for a loooooooong evening.

Do you ever feel out of touch with reality? I was a SAHM for 4 years but set up my own business and went back to work. I have a lot of rich SAHM friends and now I'm working i find them insufferable. They are so out of touch with reality- complaining about having to spend half term break in Mexico in 5 star hotel because it's an indirect flight, or complaining how busy/stressed they are when they have a cleaner, nanny, don't work. Or setting up lifestyle businesses with their partners money which aren't to make money but to fill their instagram feed. I dont see them anymore because it drove me nuts how tone deaf they all were.

How does he mostly work from home then?

Delegation.

Ah right that’s why you think you’re rich. £2 million is a London semi.

DN earns well but I’d say you’re comfortably off not rich.

It's a good thing we don't live in London then.

Do you not have anything better to do than set up a thread designed wholly for people to talk about you, and then sit by your phone/laptop waiting for another chance to talk about you?

Not today, no.

No - I love weekends. I do sometimes go to bed thinking of all the things I want to achieve. I work in a creative arts type role and I'm successful/high earning in that space. I love it - I would do the creative work even if no one paid me to do it because I love it so much. I also meet such interesting/creative people every day.

I don't mind weeks or even a month off work. But I took long maternity leaves - 13 months with my annual leave added in - and I missed my creative outlet so much and the social life of working. I can't imagine a world where all I have to do each day is clean my house, like the OP, and I definitely wouldn't choose that life.

Edited

It’s just so odd how so many people here need to put someone down to feel better about themselves.
OP has the time and financial responses to pour into any of her interests, why on earth are you trying to suggest all she has going on in her life is cleaning?

sweetpickle2 · 06/03/2026 20:11

Some of these replies are insane!

When someone posts on MN about how they're struggling on a 60k salary they're inundated with replies say they're enormously wealthy and need to read the room, and now there's someone who lives in a 2m house suddenly they're "not that rich".

You can't win on here.

Springtoday · 06/03/2026 20:14

I think rich is different these days. You are comfortable. More comfortable than others, but I classify rich as living in a house 10+ million and having more than one house or having a private jet as well and so on. You are doing well of course....but I happen to be close to a few that are in this ultra rich crowd (by chance, my bestie and my sister both married men that are ultra rich. my dh is is childhood friends with someone ultra rich. we are not ultra rich ourselves, but more like you comfortable).

Because she posted on AMA so people can ask about the lifestyle hobbies dcs work or whatever.

@Iho you are getting a unreasonably hard time here , mn must not of had its afternoon nap !

Do you still think you are fairly grounded when it comes to buying things or have you bought daft stuff like gold leaf toilet roll and have diamonds on tbe soles of your shoes ( thank you Paul Simon)

I would say we are well grounded and buy things we get use out of rather than totally frivolous things. I admit to having a bit of a shoe and bag collection though.

Have only read the first page but why are so many posters being so nasty to the OP? What do they get out of it?
If the tread isn't interesting to you just don't read it.

NeedyLemonCat · 06/03/2026 20:15

Money talks, wealth whispers.

Did you ever aspire to climb the social ladder but because of your background you can’t? It’s like you’re the Rooneys of the property business.

Exactly! I'm 55 and already retired. I haven't cleaned my house in.....forever. That's the cleaner's job.

Being retired means I now have every day to enjoy doing stuff that interests and excites me (far more so than working) and I'm sure OP is the same.

MixedUp7 · 06/03/2026 20:17

What’s some examples of ways you have helped friends/family? I’d love to be able to do this!

It's a good thing we don't live in London then.

Your kids might want to
and an inheritance sure as heck won’t cover this I believe the boys will be wealthy enough that their children won't have to worry for money after inheritance.

not even close

Iho · 06/03/2026 20:19

SleeplessInWherever · 06/03/2026 17:48

Well, they will if your children also earn well.

What if one of them pursues a career as a bin man, there’ll be no £2m house for your future daughter in laws.

Unless you/your husband provides for them into adulthood?

It's unlikely they'd be binmen as we have a son doing Maths at a prestigious uni so I expect he will do well for himself. His brother is similarly motivated.

The only way I believe the boys will be wealthy enough that their children won't have to worry for money after inheritance. is
of your children have very modest ambitions

DisconnectedDrainpipe · 06/03/2026 20:20

I have a paid for 2 million pound house.. a holiday villa in The Canaries.. I'm not an housewife or anyone's wife .. I'm single. I live next door to a very well known famous person. Their house is worth 7 Million. I'm never even think about it. It's just normal to me.

IncessantNameChanger · 06/03/2026 20:20

Do you do your own housework? Do you enjoy keeping a nice house? I'm a poor housewife / carer. I hate doing my housework because I can't stay focused.

I also don't resent rick people. It must be so lovely to have nice things and security. We are doing a wet weekend in a caravan for my sons birthday now.

Do like Selfridges?

AnnoyedAsAllHeck · 06/03/2026 20:21

@Iho I was with you until your parfum. Really? Chanel No. 5? Please, broaden your horizons and try a nice Guerlain, or a niche house. Living in the UK, you have access to some great scents. Caroline Herrera's Confidential Series.

Truly, I despair for you! (Okay, only kidding but there are just better parfums out there and cost about the same as Chanel)

Yes I thought that about the perfume!

Lordofmyflies · 06/03/2026 17:49

Do you not get bored OP? I mean mental stimulation? How do you substitute the growth and satisfaction which comes from developing your skills and enhancing your career?

I draw satisfaction from having the time to pursue my hobbies and spend time with my family and pets. Climbing the career ladder was never something that interested me.

Is that supposed to be an insult?

How dare someone come from very humble roots and make a lot of money in a short space of time? Don’t the working classes know they should stay in their lane!

Clafoutie · 06/03/2026 20:23

Mamascoven · 06/03/2026 19:55

Sounds lovely, I don't know why people are so bitter. I'm a housewife too, but a poor one I suppose haha. I'm probably as happy as you though despite having not much money. My happiness is my family's health and our small but very cosy home. Life is what you make it I suppose!

Well said! There are some very bitter posts on here. It always seems to be one of those topics that brings out the worst in people, and also seems to be a very British thing to so despise the rich ( I’m British and not at all rich!)
