After years of trying every diet out there, I finally found something that worked for me: Mounjaro weight loss injections.

Since last July, I’ve lost 100 pounds.

Starting weight: 20st 12lbs (292lbs / 132.4kg, UK size 26-28) BMI 41.3
Current weight: 13st 10lbs (192lbs / 87.1kg, UK size 16-18). BMI 27.5
Target BMI: 24

I know I’m not at target yet, but it 100 pounds is a nice round number so I thought I’d do something to “celebrate” and also share my experience. I know weight loss injections can be a hot topic, and I’m happy to share my experience—so feel free to ask me anything!

I won’t be responding to abusive messages. This has been the best thing I’ve ever tried, and I stand by my choice.

Let’s keep it respectful, but if you’re genuinely curious, drop your questions below! 👇

Well Done on your weight loss. Can you do a what I eat in a day. I am one month in and feel my weight loss is slow. I have about 20kg to lose.

stopthatrightnow · 01/04/2025 05:12

Sure. Here is yesterday:
breakfast: Huel black label protein shake (have tried tons of protein shakes, this is my favourite as it tastes great, has 35g of protein and keeps me full for ages)

lunch: Tuna steak, grilled with olives and red pesto on top, served with veg

dinner: Castello pineapple cheese 60g serving + wheaten crackers, plus a side salad. Plus one Getpro chocolate mousse (LOVE these)

no snacks.
to drink: tons of sugar free squash or plain water

Oh wow that's an incredible loss! I bet you feel amazing 👏 🥰
I started mounjaro mid December and have lost 43lbs. It truly has been so life changing for me. I use to be a day drinker and now I've been sober for 16 weeks. It's been the best thing I've done for myself xx

stopthatrightnow · 01/04/2025 05:23

I do feel a lot better in multiple ways. They are doing some studies about the impact the drug has on various addictive behaviours as it has been very successful with some eg alcoholism. I read a study in the New Scientist about it.

Is there a plan for when you reach target - do you stay on the jabs at a low dose or titrate off? Outside of weight loss what other benefits do you have?

100lbs is amazing well done!

stopthatrightnow · 01/04/2025 05:44

I have about 21 pounds to go. Then I will reduce down to the lowest level for a few months before coming off.

Other benefits of the 100 pound weight loss: far less pain, especially in knees. Can go upstairs again without the huge struggle I had before. Personal hygiene is easier. My body’s aches and pains in general are far fewer and less severe. My skin is much clearer. My diet is healthier. I have been able to increase my exercise duration and intensity so my muscles are stronger and my cardiovascular fitness is better. I look a lot better in clothes. Strangers are nicer to me.

Oh, and I can fit in aeroplane seats and without an extension seatbelt . That was a low point last year. And I can sit in normal chairs without the pain of the arms digging in.

Have you had any issue with sagging skin from such a large weight loss? I need to lose about 5 stone but worry that I'll be left with all this saggy skin afterwards.

I am considering Mounjaro and when I hear of successes like yours it gives me hope something will work. Well done.

Firenzeflower · 01/04/2025 05:54

Well done.
Did you experience many side effects?

stopthatrightnow · 01/04/2025 06:04

@SparklyGlitterballs actually no, although I’m in my mid 50s, so far i have no sagging skin at all. My stomach looks like it might be starting to have some soon but that doesn’t bother me. My arms would be more of a concern but they are currently toned. Perhaps it’s the upper body weight work I have been doing?

@Firenzeflowerside effects: appetite suppression (obviously!). And constipation. The latter was very troublesome at first. I keep it under control with one sachet of Laxido mixed into my squash each day. It’s not a laxative but a stool softener and this keeps me going!

Queenofheart · 01/04/2025 06:16

I’m on week 3 and seem to have the attitude eat less, lose more, so I’m not eating much, also can’t due to suppression, but would ask what you recommend you must eat in a day?

stopthatrightnow · 01/04/2025 06:21

@QueenofheartI would Google TDEE. It will work out what your body needs. And then aim for 500 cals below that. I track everything with Nutra check and what I really like is that it gives you a one week average and a four week average. This takes into account the nuances of feeling hungrier some days than others.

Hi OP, I have been fascinated by WLI and done a ton of reading on it, I would never qualify for them (privately or NHS) but would love to know how it feels to be on this medication, did it kick in straight away and your appetite/food noise was erased? Or was it more of a build up? How did you feel as towards the end of the week as it wears off? Do you look forward to injecting?

I'm also very interested in the side effects of this medication, lots of people have reported a decreased need to seek a dopamine hit and many have said that they have stopped other addictions or destructive behaviours such as smoking/vaping, drinking, gambling, excessive shopping etc as they are no longer seeking the rush of dopamine, have you found this at all?

If you have experienced this, are there any negatives to this inability to induce dopamine? Does it affect relationships for example? Do you still feel 'normal' emotions (eg can you still get excited about things)?

I'm so sorry that is lots of questions but I find this topic so fascinating.

That’s great advice, will do that, thank you ☺️

@scantbei found it kicked in the next day at full whack and still find this. The chatter in my head which has driven me to eat completely stopped. This has been the main driver of weight loss and a huge difference. Hunger increases on day five after a while on a dose which is a sign I need to go up a dose if the hunger is strong and consistent, but interestingly the drive to overeat is still controlled. Any overeating binges have been very limited and I’ve only had 3 of them the whole time. I used to do that 2-3 times per day.

I felt so good that after six weeks I was weaned off anti depressants (which had contributed to my weight gain). I’m still off them several months later and without depression or anxiety.

Well done, that's an impressive weight loss and you must really be feeling the benefits. And to @Maye88 that's fantastic work on the sobriety.

Did you experience any nausea or vomiting? I keep hearing about it and it really worries me.

Zippidydoodah · 01/04/2025 12:52

Yes, re: side effects, I also keep hearing of diarrhoea and vomiting and generally feeling like crap. It’s good to see that that is not a given.

stopthatrightnow · 01/04/2025 13:07

@TokyoKyoto@Zippidydoodah I’ve never had nausea or vomiting although the smell of some foods makes me gag now. Anecdotally I don’t think many people have proper vomiting and it’s a small minority who have nausea. The more common side effects I see reported by users are loss of appetite (hurray), constipation (common), and some disgusting burps. The latter I’ve never had, probably because I’m still on a relatively low dose.

There are some users who think they can carry on with the same poor diet and take Mounjaro which will magically wash away their fat stores. Instead it tends to provoke nausea due to the sheer amount of grease in the food they’ve eaten. My compulsion to eat those types of foods completely stopped as soon as I took MJ for the first time, and has never returned, so I can attribute my lack of nausea to that. There are many others in the same position who don’t ever have nausea or vomiting.

That makes perfect sense. I am going to look into it. Thanks, and well done you!!

fatgirlswims · 01/04/2025 15:03

What dose did you use?

well done!

roshi42 · 01/04/2025 15:23

I’m 6 weeks on mounjaro and would happily stay on it for life, it’s such a game changer. I’d also like to know what doses you took and for how long. And did your weightloss plateau from time to time? I’m finding that frustrating despite eating/exercising the same, though I believe it’s normal. Also heartened to hear the loose skin not being too much of a problem!

stopthatrightnow · 01/04/2025 15:29

@fatgirlswims first month on 2.5. Then I went up to 3.75 for one week (counting clicks) and then 5mg for one week but found the latter too strong. So I dropped back down to 3.75mg and continued on that for several months. Over the last two months the hunger has been kicking in too much towards the end of the week which is a sign of needing to go up a dose, so I’ve slowly gone up. Currently on 6mg for the first time.

The pharmacies tend to email you to strongly encourage you keep going up each month but I did my research prior to starting and realised that the higher the dose, the worst the side effects - and/or risk of having side effects. Makes sense to me. And then what do you do when you’re at 15mg but your body adjusts to it and you still get hungry? You have no possibility of going any higher but you have risk of multiple side effects.

Counting clicks and staying low has worked for me and it means that after nine months I’m only just going up to 6mg. I’d like my max to be 7.5mg really so I can continue to keep the constipation at bay and to avoid the disgusting burps that are (anecdotally) so common at higher doses.

i just order the lower doses each time and the pharmacy have never said anything

stopthatrightnow · 01/04/2025 15:33

@roshi42 I just posted my doses in answer to another poster above. I’ve only had one week where my weight has stayed the same. Larger losses came at the start but even now I still have good losses, eg 4.5 pounds loss in the last two weeks.

Overall I’ve averaged about 1.5 pounds per week, which is right on the recommended guidelines to avoid loose skin etc.

If you get plateaus already I would advise upping your water intake to 3 litres per day for a week to see what happens. Without becoming blinded by science terminology, your body needs the extra water to encourage the fat in the fat cells to dissipate. This has always worked for me if I’ve had a slow week.
