After years of trying every diet out there, I finally found something that worked for me: Mounjaro weight loss injections.

Since last July, I’ve lost 100 pounds.

Starting weight: 20st 12lbs (292lbs / 132.4kg, UK size 26-28) BMI 41.3
Current weight: 13st 10lbs (192lbs / 87.1kg, UK size 16-18). BMI 27.5
Target BMI: 24

I know I’m not at target yet, but it 100 pounds is a nice round number so I thought I’d do something to “celebrate” and also share my experience. I know weight loss injections can be a hot topic, and I’m happy to share my experience—so feel free to ask me anything!

I won’t be responding to abusive messages. This has been the best thing I’ve ever tried, and I stand by my choice.

Let’s keep it respectful, but if you’re genuinely curious, drop your questions below! 👇

To lose my 2 stone on Mounjaro, I’ve done the following:
Cut out all sugar.
Cut out fizzy drinks.
Increase lean protein.
Make and eat a large salad daily.
Limit calories to under 1000 a day.
Complete a 5K walk daily.
Go to the gym 3-4 times a week to work on strength training and weights.
Not participate in any meals out, BBQs etc

It’s not been easy. The Mounjaro simply quiets down the food noise, so you aren’t craving and thinking about food. I still feel hungry. I still miss food as entertainment. I still sweat and burn and come out exhausted from the gym.

Mounjaro is just helping me not quit. If I didn’t change my lifestyle and practice discipline with myself, then I wouldn’t have lost anywhere near as much weight as I have, if any. My friend is also in Mounjaro and is confused as to why it’s not working for her, but she hasn’t changed what she eats or does.

With only eating 1000 calories, how many grams of protein do you manage to get in daily? I'm finding it difficult to balance calories along with protein.

Minimum 58g but I try to get to around 80g.
I drink clear whey protein to get it up to where it needs to be and top my salad with boiled chicken.

@DorothywiththeRedShoes to change suppliers if you are now under 30BMI then you should contact one of the new suppliers and explain. They will require proof of your current prescription, eg screenshot of last order.

5.5mg from a 5mg pen….do the normal 60 clicks and inject. Change the needle. Do another six clicks and inject. That is 5.5mg. You should have enough for five doses from a pen but you will need different needles for the last one or maybe two injections. These can be purchased by googling 1mm diabetic needles 32mg 8mm.

@VivIsBlondei have average 2.3 pounds per week over 45 weeks. Much more to start with a much less recently. My last month I lost 8.5 pounds tho, so still significant.

I do not have mounjaro face.

I now am starting to get excess skin on my stomach but it’s not much given over 100 pound loss and I never bare my stomach in public anyway so it doesn’t matter. I’d rather be slim with a flabby stomach than morbidly obese with skin that is overstretched.

OP posts:
stopthatrightnow · 15/05/2025 23:28

@WellINeverrr I don’t count cals so to speak, but I’ve just looked at Nutra Check app where I log everything. Over the last four weeks, my average cals were 1329 per day and average protein was 103g per day.

Well done on your amazing loss. Do you think you won't put any weight back on after you stop the injections? If not, why not?

If yes, how will you manage the hunger pangs?

HollyIvie · 15/05/2025 23:54

What do you eat when you are out at a restaurant for dinner? I find there are rarely low calorie options.

stopthatrightnow · 16/05/2025 20:09

@DancingHipposwould you ask that question of anyone who had lost weight with Weight Watchers or Slimming World or any other way? The answer is probably “no”. In which case i find this just another method in which slim people seek to beat down those who have lost weight with WLI. It’s always a risk WITH ANY METHOD OF WEIGHT LOSS.

OP posts:
stopthatrightnow · 16/05/2025 20:13

@HollyIvieI do not calorie count so that is not an issue. As explained in previous posts, I select protein first and foremost and avoid carbs. So if there was tuna steak on the menu, for example, with some form of potatoes and veg, I ask for no potatoes but extra veg. No restaurant has ever batted an eyelid at that request. I do avoid meals that are pasta/noodle/rice based, so in an Italian, Indian or Chinese restaurant I have to choose carefully. In some cases I will have two starters. Or ask for a starter and a side salad. But I do not calorie count - that is not a way that works for me, although because the protein fills me up, I don’t eat as much volume and my average cals are usually 1300-1400 per day if I look at my Nutra Check app entries.

GrammarTeacher · 17/05/2025 10:42

But carbs in and off themselves aren’t bad and are good for energy to exercise which is important. I’m really wary of any diet that excludes food groups.

stopthatrightnow · 17/05/2025 11:15

@GrammarTeacherthat is fine if it suits you. High protein low carb (not “no carb”) suits me and works. There is a lot of evidence about how carbs have been promoted in the last 50 years because they’re cheap but actually we are not designed to eat large amounts of carbs. For me it led to sugar addiction

Oh wow, you’re very lucky!

Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise. Some have had success with vegetable glycerine. Weight training will also help improve appearance.

I think I may need a tummy tuck by the end of this though.

I have not moisturised at all but have done a lot of weight training which I am credited with my lack of loose skin so far (plus luck!)

I'm asking YOU in AMA! Especially as there is a lot of evidence that people who use wli do put the weight back on after they stop them.

Also mistakenly you have said that I'm slim, whereas I am not at all. I'm thinking of using wli which is why your thread interested me.

But maybe you shouldn't post in AMA if you can't answer a question you don't like.

stopthatrightnow · 18/05/2025 23:33

@DancingHippossorry but it sounded like you were being antagonistic. You are right, I did say AMA. However, please provide your evidence that lots of people will put the weight back on……as far as I know it is no more likely than with any other weight loss method.

Fantastic achievement OP.

I have lost over 50 pounds on mounjaro. I started at 13 stone 6, I’m currently 136 pounds, or 9 stone 10.

My BMI is now 20.7. I started at 28.6 and was miserable. I was t so fat that my health was impacted, but I detested myself in the mirror or in photos.

No side effects whatsoever for me. And I titrated upwards to 12.5.

How did you get it with such a low BMI?

tkband3 · 19/05/2025 12:23

Thank you so much for this thread. I was directed here by @Seahorsesplendour from the May starters thread. I have been lucky enough not to have any side effects so far but am emetophobic so am very nervous about the possibility of nausea and vomiting so was anxious about moving up to 5mg. Your information on titrating more slowly to 3.75mg is really helpful and I think I will do this for my second month. I'm losing weight slowly but I'm happy with that as I hope it will be more sustainable in the long term.

DancingHippos · 19/05/2025 22:36

@stopthatrightnow
Scientific evidence This is the most recent article. I have failed doing SW and WW so if wanted to lose weight using WLIs, then especially as they are medical, I'd want to know about what happens after. Hence, my initial question to you.

People who stop weight loss drugs return to original weight within year, analysis finds

Research raises questions about long-term treatment of and support for people using weight loss drugs

@DancingHippos thank you for the link. I still stand by the point that regain can happen with all forms of dieting. The difference with WLI use for me is that I am getting down to a maintenance level in the first place; a position which has defeated me for almost 20 years

OP posts:
stopthatrightnow · 20/05/2025 02:20

@tkband3you're welcome. It makes perfect sense to me to keep as low as possible in dosage to reduce side effect possibility and only to go up slowly. I read lots of posts about side effects and wonder how quickly people have gone up. Hopefully they will do a research study on how low dosing can still work.

OP posts:
DancingHippos · 20/05/2025 07:23

Do you think you will always need to be on some sort of dosage, albeit a low one or is the plan to eventually come off it?

summersolsticesoon · 20/05/2025 07:49

I scanned the thread looking for the cost and can see it works out about £35 a week.
have you changed suppliers or stuck with the same company ? i have noticed there are lots of special offers for the initial low doses. Is any particular supplier consistently well priced?

I've kept over 4 stone off for nearly 5 years now, the longest I've maintained any loss previously is about 6 months! I've completely changed my eating habits now though, very low carb most of the time & it's really worked for me.

stopthatrightnow · 20/05/2025 09:07

@DancingHipposi am not sure - I think I will stay on it for a while after reaching target
