Following on from our epic first thread I had a breast reduction

We are a group of ladies who have breast reductions for a number of reasons and are all at different stages of recovery.

I had a breast reduction AMA | Mumsnet

I had a breast reduction two weeks ago. I’ve gone from a 34GG/H to a 34D. Crack on with any questions!

Definitely not overnight. I’m having it done in a clinic with no overnight facilities. It’s drain free surgery and I’m back next week for massage.
I’ll wash my hair tomorrow morning, my mum is going to braid it for me on Wednesday (I’m crap and can’t do it myself), then I have a wash and braid booked on Friday, the following Wednesday and the following Saturday.
I’m at the theatre 10 days post-op (probably not my wisest plan but it’s been booked for a year!) and I’ll be doing the school run from Thursday if I’m up to it (10 minute walk each way)

boobies1234 · 01/10/2023 10:09

I'm considering this, huge boobs and smaller body as lost weight.
Is it worth it? Would you go private as fount I can get it on nhs

Madagascary · 01/10/2023 12:12

Lord Lily. I admire your ambition but eek

massage?

Madagascary · 01/10/2023 12:12

@boobies1234 you can get it?

omgsally · 01/10/2023 12:21

Madagascary · 01/10/2023 09:24

Are you def not overnight? I’d recommend that because morphine and potential bit of bleeding onto sheets.

however I’m not a doctor 😂😂

I didn't bleed or need morphine. I had very little actual pain but I did stay overnight. It's major surgery and prudent to be monitored. As for a massage a week later, you've got to be kidding.

LilyGlobe · 01/10/2023 12:28

I meant dressing change, DH was talking to me about booking a sports massage at the time, brain obviously couldn’t multitask 😂

omgsally · 01/10/2023 12:38

You won't be able to have a massage a week later. You will still be propped up in bed and there's no way you could lie on your front or tolerate being touched for a prolonged period.

Notooserious · 01/10/2023 13:47

I wasn’t overnight either and didn’t really bleed. Two tiny drops at the anchor, one on each side that barely made it through the bra onto my tshirt. And not much morphine…sadly. Morphine is fun. I was just onto ibuprofen and paracetamol after two days so not even cocodamol 😂😂😂😂😂

Heartfullofcheese · 01/10/2023 13:56

In the States it seems to be a day procedure but usually overnight here.
Good luck @LilyGlobe
Take pictures today. I only took a couple and regret it!

Madagascary · 01/10/2023 14:36

Yes, I had developed a cough and so I kept having to cough and I think the morphine helped me through that. I had a little bit of bleeding onto the sheets but yes not much I don’t want to worry people.

Madagascary · 01/10/2023 14:36

Yes!! Do the white t shirt thing

Madagascary · 01/10/2023 14:36

If you have a bath in the morning, take a photo from above the bath and also take photos of your boobs when they’re all drawn on

Martinisarebetterdirty · 01/10/2023 14:45

Oooo exciting @LilyGlobe ! Good luck. My guy said not to rest too much and to keep moving, but expect to feel tired. I did the school run a couple of days later and it was exhausting.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 01/10/2023 14:51

@Rugbee my surgeon is brilliant, but I’ve not had the after care from him personally that others seem to have had. I’m two months in and only seen him briefly once, meant to see him this week but had a message to call so suspect it is cancelled. His team are fantastic and I have seen them but I’d quite like to see him properly and have the same amount of time I had when I was considering the surgery. He’s central London and very expensive comparatively, but my boobs look fantastic (to me!) - I seem to have the boobs I had mid teens. I’d definitely recommend him surgery wise but if you want to see your surgeon and not just the team after surgery then don’t use him (unless I’ve been particularly unlucky). Let me know if you want his name, happy to PM you.

Singletrackmind · 01/10/2023 15:38

@LilyGlobe exciting .. but what they said.. it's major surgery, you don't want any commitments at all to anything other than rest and recover for at least a week. And yes take pics/ do the T-shirt thing 😁
@boobies1234 NHS is by all accounts a postcode lottery. Best thing to do is look at your local trust to see what their criteria are. The starting point is your GP. Assuming you get approved it's around 12 months plus wait time. I think most people on this thread went private and there are good surgeons in every region if you do that, it will be quicker, but the best ones will have a lead time.

ivfbabymomma1 · 01/10/2023 15:42

I had one in 2017 with a lift. 34G to 35D! £6.5k at spire hospital. Recovery time about 3 weeks. No complications or infections etc

Madagascary · 01/10/2023 15:55

love the 35 d 😂😂

MorrisZapp · 01/10/2023 17:00

I bought lovely button up pj's for my op and they didn't come out of the bag. I spent all night in my knickers and my hospital gown 😊

I'm healing nicely now, they gave me loads of supplies and I'm getting very efficient at inadine strips, dressings etc. I think in about a week I should be fully weathertight and ready to rock and roll (with frequent naps!).

The aftercare has been great. I picked up a two pack of slinky bralette thingies from TK Maxx and I can actually fit them!!

Life changing results, but lots of patience required.

LilyGlobe · 02/10/2023 14:43

I’m all done! Having tea and biscuits, leaving here at 4. Back Monday for dressing change and lympathic drainage.
Feel really good though!

Martinisarebetterdirty · 02/10/2023 17:06

Wow @LilyGlobe ! Amazing news, you must be one tough cookie! I was puking like the exorcist after mine. Congrats and look after yourself.

LilyGlobe · 02/10/2023 17:46

I feel ok! Got myself dressed and my nurse was like “oh you’re an independent one, aren’t you?” Yes, yes I am 😂
A little woozy but overall feeling good. A little bit sore when sitting up. I have oramorph if I need it. Just can’t believe how small I look, I know I’m in a compression bra but it’s such a change. Roughly 1.5kg gone in total.

Heartfullofcheese · 02/10/2023 18:00

Yay congratulations! Don’t overdo it though - don’t want to ruin your new boobs 😂
I bought a three pack of tiny bralettes at the weekend. It was a happy moment.

Singletrackmind · 02/10/2023 18:21

I bought some Cosabella curvy bralets in the sale in small. They arrived looking like postage stamps 😬… they bloody well fit … 😀😀😀I know! Overjoyed!

Great news. Take it easy @LilyGlobe it’s the drugs making you feel ok & you will need to be cautious for a while.

LilyGlobe · 02/10/2023 19:18

I’m propped up on the sofa, have had some dinner and feeling just a little bit sore. Walking around every hour as I don’t want to be wearing the stockings for longer than necessary…although they’re a beautiful teal, very autumnal 😂

Madagascary · 02/10/2023 19:51

Great news @LilyGlobe now please do not start doing any lifting or carrying or trying to prove yourself. No one will Thank you for it.

Agree about the shock of the new silhouette. Remember your stomach might look bigger than that’s a bit of a shock.
