Really needed to read this thread tonight! Have lost around 1.5 stones so far and still about 2 to go. Feeling frustrated that its not coming off quick enough, but seeing this post and that it took you 18 months has reminded me to be patient 💜 well done, what an achievement

Well done, I lost 5 stone , 4 stone on SW . People go on about that being shit as well

The last stone was on a 28 day body blast with a pt eating not much more than oats, chicken and veg everyday

It's amazing how differently people treat you when you are thin

That's excellent! Congratulations 🙌

At what level of weight loss did people really notice it and did people start telling you you were losing too much?

Also how have you managed to maintain? I’m very good at losing weight but do it by being quite controlling. I am not very good at loosening the grip and maintaining.

I can be specific with this - they started to notice when I was about 11 stone 3! When I was around 8 stone they told me I didn't have to lose any more

My reason for saying that is I don’t think this is achievable for a lot of people. Weight loss is very simple & not rocket science but it’s down to consistency and discipline which is very difficult to maintain if you’re starving yourself

I agree

Well done, that's amazing. I lost a stone gor myvwedding using MyFitness pal and walking 10000 steps a day but put it back on after 4 months of intense stress.

What's your diet coke tip? 😂

Ah congratulations on your wedding and previous weight loss !

My Diet Coke tip is that it makes you feel full with the fizz and he flavour especially after meals but it's 0 calories !

Got to admire your determination. I managed to get to a bit under 8 stone in 6 months from 10 stone after my second pregnancy. Couldn't get lower than that no matter how hard I tried and I'm the same height.

I put it all back on over 2021 but I've lost a fair chunk recently. Struggling to find the motivation to go further to be honest, it means eating less which I don't want to do and can't really if I want to keep my strength for weight lifting. Would be nice to get into my clothes again though!!

Thanks - if you've done it once / you'll no doubt do it again! 💪

I lost 8st with no effort involved at all 😂
Just stress and could barely afford to eat.
Ended up thinner than when I was 14. Ended up in hospital, actually 🤦‍♀️
I looked like a ghoul but I just couldn’t see it.
Things are a lot better now and I’ve put on enough to look healthy though I’ll need to be careful.
I actually loved being so thin tbh.

Well done to you!

Mo meals cooked from scratch all pre packed

Reading along and jumping in here to say to @Alwaysworryingoversomething I cook from scratch as standard, eating hardly any processed foods. You would do this by weighing portions of foods as you cook to then be able to work out the calorie content of each element using a reputable and accurate calorie resource such as an app or book or looking at packet nutrition lists. After a while you will know pretty well the calorie content of most things you usually cook with so as long as you’re careful you can eyeball it pretty easily with a reasonable margin of error ; you could also annotate recipe books/recipes to have general calorie content at a glance if that’s easier for you.

Yes I had a toddler at the time

Did you worry about passing on your disordered eating to your toddler?
Did you feed your toddler a similar diet?

What a bitchy, catty post. Yuck. I bet you are lovely.

Congratulations @Scammell you did what worked for you to meet your goal, and now you can afford to eat more healthily.

Sorry if you've already answered, but what was it specifically that motivated you to make the change, at the time you chose? Assuming you'd tried to lose weight in the past and failed?

CanStopWillStop · 21/02/2023 20:28

also HUGE congrats, what an achievement x

TiredyMcTired · 21/02/2023 20:29

I’m amazed that people are asking for further ‘advice’ from the OP on achieving weight loss. The food intake and calorie level described is disordered and very unhealthy.

A daily intake of 1200 calories for an adult trying to lose weight is far too low, especially when those calories are not nutrient dense. A calorie intake that low over a longer period of time will create problems with your metabolism, your bone health, nutrient deficiencies, immunity and cause fatigue. That calorie level will not provide enough fuel for a body to function.

A calorie controlled diet is an excellent way to lose weight. But not one like the OP has outlined here. I’ve lost a lot of weight calorie counting and did it sensibly by getting good sound advice.

TangledWebOfDeception · 21/02/2023 20:30

Or you could look into low carb/high fat which also works very well to be healthy/lose weight. I do it for blood glucose management but it’s a very healthy and balanced way of eating and has lots of health benefits. Best of all I don’t need to calorie count at all! 😊😊 Just keep an eye on carb intake to make sure I’m not overloading my system.

<end of derail, with apologies to @Scammell>

Well done on your weight loss @Scammell and on keeping it off. It’s hard work to stick to an eating plan and takes a lot of determination so you will have made many, many positive choices to keep at it over the years. Flowers

You are my inspiration! I'll be taking pointers gone from 13st to now 9.5 st but want to get to 8.5

How long did it take you?

Starlitestarbright · 21/02/2023 20:35

I'm.5,1 I onced weighed 7 stone 2. I looked extremely thin, collar bones and hips bones sticking out. Your diet seems unhealthily and unattentainable. I'm all for health lifestyle but your post comes across slightly concerning. Its no way to live constantly on edge watching what you eat.

Wantanytoastwiththat · 21/02/2023 20:39

Well done OP, that is amazing. I bet you are so proud of yourself and so you should be.

I lost 4 stone on SW. It really works for me. I started in 2017 and it took me 15 months. I have kept all my weight off.
I also work out alot. Excerise classes, 3/4 times a week. Dog walking and generally walk everywhere.
I still follow SW but have one treat day a week. I swabbed wine for gin and slimline tonic water. I thought I would put on weight with going through the memopause. I am 52 but on hrt and still the same weight. I have a photo of me at my biggest and it keeps me motivated.

It took me a total of 1 week under 18 months ! But I lost it much quicker in the last 9 and a half months than in the first 8 and a half !

How it a body not have enough fuel to function when it’s carrying several stones of fat! That’s the whole point. Use up the reserves you’ve got stored.
