By choice or necessity?

LizzieSiddal · 24/11/2022 16:48

Is it cold in the winter?

TarasChoc · 24/11/2022 16:50

Is it a recent thing or did you always live in a caravan?

FrownedUpon · 24/11/2022 16:50

Do you live there all year round? Do you pay service charges?

Is it cold in the winter?

It is warmer than any house I've ever lived in.

It's touring, although has only actually moved from purchase point to here!

Do you live on a seasonal pitch?

MadeInChorley · 24/11/2022 16:54

Do you come from a traveller background? What made you decide that a caravan suited your needs better than a more conventional dwelling like a flat or house?

chitofftheshovel · 24/11/2022 16:54

Oh and yes a proper toilet, although waste goes into a cannister that needs emptied - around once a day.

Whereabouts in the UK are you OP? (Roughly). And what sort of location? (thinking big difference between windswept coastal site and sheltered valley).

No all year round.

Has it changed your lifestyle?
What I mean is, obviously you live in a small space so don’t need or can’t have loads of stuff, is this better? (I bet it is!)

LizzieSiddal · 24/11/2022 16:57

Do you have to pay maintenance charges for the ground rent etc

chitofftheshovel · 24/11/2022 16:58

No I don't come from a traveller background. Parents/up-bringing was middle to upper middle class.

Living in a caravan is much cheaper and in many ways much easier than a house/flat.

Do you live alone? If not, does it ever feel
Overcrowded?

South West, neither coastal nor sheltered valley. The caravan often rocks (for all the wrong reasons!!)

I was under the impression you cannot stay all year round and need a permanent address? Do you have children?

usernamenotaccepted · 24/11/2022 17:00

How old is it and how many berths? Do you live in it alone? What is the maintenance like?

I got rid of A LOT of useless stuff moving in here, although it is astounding how much storage space there is. We have an awning up also which acts as pantry, laundry room, porch, gym, kitchen.

Do you have a job, either outside the home or WFH? Are you living in a caravan to get away from it all and escape the ties of a lease or mortgage?

I'm never more than 4 meters away from my partner if we are both at home. Luckily we get on very well!!!
