Is this even interesting? Maybe not
jackod · 10/11/2022 22:35
@ofwarren
- German shepherd
2. Labrador
3. Greyhound
I think. Special mention to viszlas too! There's so many amazing breeds
DeanStockwooooo · 10/11/2022 22:36
What kind of work do uou do ? Rescue, show , race , kennels, training , ?????
userxx · 10/11/2022 22:38
I love German shepherds too, I grew up with one.
What is your least favourite breed and why ?
jackod · 10/11/2022 22:39
@Darthwazette definitely fixable in a lot of cases with a lot of techniques on Google. Some opt for medication if it's long-term. Some breeds are just naturally prone to it!
@DeanStockwooooo essentially a dog walker, in a boarding kennel.
@Whatacrocof they're amazing they weren't in my favourites before working with them but they're so brilliant
BeLikeElsa · 10/11/2022 22:42
What breed do you love but would never want to own, and why?
hollygoflightly · 10/11/2022 22:42
Will my 10 month cocker spaniel ever get decent recall? 🤣
jackod · 10/11/2022 22:44
@userxx they're amazing dogs.
I'd have to personally say the flat-faced breeds (pugs, French bulldogs) purely because of the respiratory issues with them.
Temperament wise I'm not often keen on Jack Russells or labradoodles/cockerpoos/newfiepoos (any poodle cross that there seems to be an abundance of now! ) but of course this is no personal offence to anyone because there is some that I've met and absolutely loved, just going from a general perspective/average of the many I meet!
ofwarren · 10/11/2022 22:45
Do you have an opinion on the dog attacks by certain breeds that we see frequently in the news at the moment?
Do you think we should bring back the dog licence?
jackod · 10/11/2022 22:46
@BeLikeElsa huskies I love, but I think they'd be too many high maintenance for our lifestyle!
Also collies are in my top favourite breeds as they're amazing but 90% of the ones I meet are so high energy and I just wouldn't be able to meet their exercise requirements.
And chihuahuas - I love chihuahuas but I wouldn't get one currently because our house is too full of chaotic and young kids. I'd love to own one in the future though!
jackod · 10/11/2022 22:48
@hollygoflightly I hope so for you If we ever have someone coming to advice for training for a reluctant/stubborn dog, it's often a cocker spaniel though, so I know they can be difficult! It was a shock to me at first though that so many were difficult.
We have many amazingly trained adult cocker spaniels though if it's of any reassurance to you
jackod · 10/11/2022 22:55
@ofwarren I'd say no to dog licenses but there needs to be heavier consequences for owners with little control. We've had several attacks in my area at the moment too - off-lead dogs attacking other dogs on walks with seemingly little consequences.
@Jarofhoney shelties are amazing. I'd definitely recommend if you don't mind the upkeep of grooming them and have the time to train them.
jackod · 10/11/2022 22:57
@OES1 I have barely met any old English sheepdogs but they were one of my favourite breeds as a kid! There seems to be barely any in my area though.
@Daydreamer12345 it is great. I started off by volunteering only a couple of hours a week. It was a change of career route for me.
Whatacrocof · 10/11/2022 22:57
@jackod i used to work with greyhounds too, they are so loving. I have a JRT who is a softie. ☺️
jackod · 10/11/2022 23:00
@Whatacrocof they're so amazing. I'd definitely look into getting a rescue one!
Definitely some nice JRT's too - it was just a generalisation/stereotype I have from many that I've met that don't have the easiest temperaments. We have some absolutely lovely older ones though that I've absolutely fell in love with!

Haha, good to know, thank you!
