I had a breast reduction two weeks ago. I’ve gone from a 34GG/H to a 34D.

Crack on with any questions!

The inflation things beeped loudly every minute or so. I did want to point out that lack of sleep might be worse for me than the risk of thrombosis but they were really strict about them. Literally couldn’t sleep at all.

Excited to be able to shower. He said I could if I really needed to as the tape is waterproof but I’m not risking it.
Apparently I have wound clips that are coming out Friday so that will be a big moment!

Martinisarebetterdirty · 09/08/2023 16:49

I found those inflation things oddly soothing 😂 like rocking in a hammock. I also can’t believe you’re both allowed these socks off! I was given an extra pair and told only off when in the shower.

I think I’m pushing my tape change to tomorrow @Singletrackmind then again Sunday then first day back at work Monday and will take them off Tuesday. I don’t see anyone medical now until the end of the month as my guy is on holiday next week (didn’t see him at the dressing change either).

Going to google would clips @Heartfullofcheese, that’s a good milestone to cross out.

Singletrackmind · 09/08/2023 16:58

Yup soothing until the infernal beep 😂totally with @Heartfullofcheese on this .. literally every fecking minute ....! I'll let you know how I go with the whole tape malarkey @Martinisarebetterdirty .... also theoretically back at work Monday ...

Yes I can actually cross my arms under my boobs 😁... and right now they aren't bouncing anywhere in this compression number. Plus still quite high/ hard. @Madagascary remember you saying the effects of lipo were the most sore, I'm assuming that's what is keeping my sides feeling a bit tender and swollen. How long did that take to subside?

Ages tbf

Madagascary · 09/08/2023 19:49

I never changed my tape

Singletrackmind · 09/08/2023 20:39

@Madagascary Did someone else do it or did you just have it on for ages 🤔…?
So I have managed the change although the stress levels were high… 😬so worried about pulling things apart. My strategy was - have shower with tape on then peel off when moist - air dry - reapply. Phew! Nice fresh bra on, all good.

HollyDaisy · 09/08/2023 20:57

i know some people have covered it but for the newer people how long are you off work? Especially if you’re computer based wfh I’m contemplating how much time off I’ll need. This thread is very useful and reassuring.

Madagascary · 09/08/2023 21:00

On for ages. I know!

I had to be in work. Did 2 weeks

you def need 3/4 days to get over discomfort and GA

Singletrackmind · 09/08/2023 22:25

@HollyDaisy my job isn’t entirely desk based but I can restrict it to be so. I’ve allowed 2 weeks but if I go back next week (which is TBC) it will be more like 12 days. Honestly, I found the first few days post surgery tough, I was mostly in bed and it took to day 5 to start feeling functional. For context I’m a gym going/ yoga/cyclist type so reasonably fit & I generally bounce back from stuff without too much trouble. If I can, I’m going to take a few more days…

I’d say 2 weeks min to be safe, from what I’ve read a lot of people take longer more like 3-6 weeks. HTHs 😀

Martinisarebetterdirty · 09/08/2023 22:40

Well done @Singletrackmind with the tapes, will follow that technique tomorrow!
@HollyDaisy I had mine same day as Singletrackmind (1 August) and will be back on Monday. I have a desk mentally demanding desk job and can wfh a fair bit. I think two weeks should be fine. I’ve been up and about the whole time and felt a bit of a fraud, until I went on the tube to have my dressings changed and felt absolutely exhausted after. I’ve just been for wine with a friend and feel fine, that’s on day 8.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 09/08/2023 22:50

God you can tell I had a couple of glasses of wine with the typing above 😆

HollyDaisy · 10/08/2023 07:47

@Madagascary @Singletrackmind @Martinisarebetterdirty thank you, it’s really helpful to hear your experiences. I don’t want to spend all this morning then ruin my recovery.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 10/08/2023 16:58

Tapes changed with only minor nipple bleeding 🤢, you did much better than I did @Singletrackmind it was like I was peeling off a waxing strip. Think I’m going to miss the last change and just remove them next week.

Madagascary · 10/08/2023 17:02

Just remembered I had the types changed after one week by the nurse, but then just left them on until they fell off

Heartfullofcheese · 10/08/2023 17:21

Tapes tomorrow, bit nervous.
Some excellently vibrant bruising coming out and it all feels very achy today but nothing a paracetamol isn’t dealing with. Hoping it’s all going well under all the tape 🤞

Singletrackmind · 10/08/2023 17:31

Ah well done @Martinisarebetterdirty @Heartfullofcheese ... honestly it was totally fine when the nurse did it, so don't worry too much. Doing it yourself feels much harder😬.. well it did to me anyhow and I agree it's a sticky ole business and I wonder whether @Madagascary may have had the right idea ... I might drop my lot and ask them how much it really matters!

Singletrackmind · 10/08/2023 17:46

@user80 how's things with you?

Madagascary · 10/08/2023 18:16

found this from a week afterwards

I had a breast reduction AMA
gibegobble · 11/08/2023 12:40

Glad to find this thread. I am booked in early next year for removal of implants and uplift, so not technically a reduction but similar operation and after effect Smile

I cannot wait to get it done and recovered. I am planning to have my op on a Tuesday and take the rest of the week off and then wfh for 2 weeks after that. Hoping that's enough!

Singletrackmind · 11/08/2023 17:25

Hi @gibegobble ! yeah it's all mastoplexy to get the lift!! @Heartfullofcheese how'd the tape change go?

Heartfullofcheese · 11/08/2023 17:49

@Singletrackmind it was absolutely fine. The nurse fitted new bras, we all admired my boobs, I can shower and change my own dressings now but can contact if any issues. He seemed very pleased I was happy, which was lovely.
I’ve definitely swollen up the last day or so though as the bruising is coming out.
I was surprised by how the incisions already look ok- I was expecting it to be gruesome after only a week but it’s not.
How is everyone else?

Singletrackmind · 11/08/2023 19:28

@Heartfullofcheese amazing .. well done you.😀The swelling is a thing ... had a bit of a wobble about that yesterday ... but otherwise all good. I've been walking every day and then resting, pottering. My most stressful thing at the moment is taking the bra off for a shower, I'm convinced they are just going to fall off without it .... 😂

Madagascary · 11/08/2023 20:14

Great news everyone, I remember the feeling of wanting to
' protect' them all the time too. Couldn't get them wet for weeks though so dead jel

Martinisarebetterdirty · 13/08/2023 08:17

Did you do a second tape change @Singletrackmind ? I definitely became more swollen after the initial tape came off. Glad everyone seems to be doing well so far. I’m back to work tomorrow, actually feeling ready for it now, but don’t think I’ll be saying that tomorrow night!
