I had a breast reduction two weeks ago. I’ve gone from a 34GG/H to a 34D.

Crack on with any questions!

I think it depends on the shape of your boobs. No surgeon will tell you they can take you to X cup as it's really tricky to determine. They can give a ballpark.

I've got a pretty high pain threshold so that definitely helps. I can also feel bruising on my ribs where the underwire of my bras used to be. I never noticed that before.

My surgeon said it'll be 3 months before I can really tell what size they are so I've refrained (and it's been hard with so many small, pretty bras in the sale) and will buy in a few months. Sports bras for now.

I don't know if it's just me but does anyone else feel like their lung capacity has increased? I feel like I can take much deeper breaths.

Curious to know how small, realistically I could go..

I was a 32g according to bravissimo. Wore a 34f
Surgeon agreed a 34c. Morning of op I said as small as you can even a B (because everyone said aim small. )
I think I’ll end up a c. But the thing you don’t realise is the lift effect - no matter how big they’re perky and don’t wobble or droop. Ime anyway.
they Can’t promise a result but make it clear if you just want “the smallest”

good luck and do do do come back.

Madagascary · 03/01/2023 20:50

@anonymouse the dull bruised feeling lasts a while. Normally if you’re overdoing

but it’s not pain. I’d equate the post op pain to like tight clothes on sunburn.

Bigtitsbetty · 03/01/2023 23:06

I just picked up some lovely bras in the sales. I am 16 weeks post surgery tomorrow.

I am in 34E now and my boobs are starting to drop a little and look more natural. I am still so happy. I know a lot of people would be disappointed to still be an E cup post surgery but I am not. I had very round, wide, high set boobs so taking anymore away would’ve looked wrong.

As others have said do not believe any surgeon who says they can make you a specific size.

Helpful to hear how everyone is doing. Thx for posting updates. 🙏🏻Things that struck a cord - the breathing thing - I feel constricted by the weight of mine/ not helped by the tightness of the underwire bras I have to wear all the time. I’m quite sporty/ fit but sometimes I fine myself ‘gasping’ to take a proper breath. Also the progress as your new boobs ‘settle’ - clearly patience is required!

@SandraTeaspoon There is a Scottish surgeon called Ben Chew who I have my eye on ( despite living in London). He has rave reviews on Real Self.

Nameneeded · 04/01/2023 14:21

If anyone has a recommendation of a London surgeon with huge NHS experience I would be very grateful.

I have huge 32K boobs and am a size 10-12 but because I'm only in my early 30s the NHS says no because 'they'll go back up if I decide to have more kids and might interfere with me breastfeeding'. Thank you for posting with your experience, my DH and I have started a pot for getting them done privately so hopefully I'll be joining you in a couple of years!

Madagascary · 04/01/2023 20:20

Oh poor you. Just get it done and bottlefeed imo. It’s not on their CV !!

Lots of places offer finance if you get bored with saving.

@Madagascary that’s great!

Bigtitsbetty · 09/01/2023 22:18

I went to running club for the first time since surgery tonight…

  1. It’s so much easier to move my arms.
  2. my chest light faces forward rather than at a slightly upward angle
  3. no black eyes
  4. all my running clothes are too big

That’s so exciting to hear that you can actually exercise more. Vanity aside that must be the biggest gift the operation would give any of us!

I am just delighted every day with my new shape and was thinking really hard this morning if I wished that I had had it done earlier. I’m not sure I had the capacity to either financially or timewise.

Realising that I actually have a 32 back and I’m slimmer than I realise is brilliant. Plus just buying a dress that’s my size.
can start exercising in February. Can’t wait.

final op with surgeon coming soon too. Scars vertically down my boob are so faint already.

Madagascary · 10/01/2023 08:57

@anonymouse how are you?
@Singletrackmind any op news yet?

Singletrackmind · 10/01/2023 09:21

Morning! Seeing surgeon next Tues for consult. Had a miserable weekend as I had to buy new bras & was just so depressed by it. Was good in a way as it strengthened my resolve but then I also did that thing where I scared myself by looking on the internet at problems like bad stitching/ open wounds … so it’s really good to hear how happy you are @Bigtitsbetty @Madagascary … I have waited far too long to do this…

Madagascary · 10/01/2023 19:10

Return the bras @Singletrackmind !!

Things they get right on the Internet is that it’s actually not that painful

things that they get wrong are all the Americans icing their chest and looking demented with pain when they leave hospital. I wonder if the ££ means they leave early. I remember chatting quite normally to my son as we drove home.

also, my anaesthetist gave me allsorts of drugs to help with stuff like anti-bruising anti-sickness, antibiotics and really I’m healing very well and I’m totally pain-free and I’m only seven weeks.

I came out on a Wednesday and I had stopped morphine by the Friday morning.

Even then I had only taken it for moments when I was moving like driving home or getting washed up first time.

I think I’d finished taking paracetamol routinely by the Sunday.

Bigtitsbetty · 11/01/2023 16:00

@Singletrackmind I didn’t think it was painful at all. Uncomfortable but not painful. I came home from hospital less than 24 hours after surgery and only had paracetamol a couple of times.

i didn’t see my wounds for two weeks because they were taped up.

OP posts:
Singletrackmind · 11/01/2023 20:22

Interesting! I’m ok with pain. Had a hysterectomy a few years ago & took no pain killers post discharge. I think it’s the wounds/ what they might look like/ how I’ll feel about that etc that I’m trying to get my head around. I think fundamentally it’s because everything I’ve had done medically in my life had to happen because I was ill or broken. I’d be choosing this & so it’s on me if something goes wrong …

Madagascary · 11/01/2023 20:36

the vertical one and nipple ones are fading fast.
under boob a bit bumpier but .. are under my boob so less bothered. I’ll let you know what my guy says about them next week.

Madagascary · 11/01/2023 20:39

I must admit first ten days was like wtaf. Are they too small.
my kids were so (nicely) shocked I think that influenced me. Couldn’t really look as documented on here

NOW I LOVE. Advice would be not to overthink.

Bigtitsbetty · 11/01/2023 22:49

I also had a hysterectomy (full abdo with vertical scar) also had a c section. I found the reduction to be more inconvenient but less painful.

i don’t worry about the scars on my breasts because of the other scars. It’s just another war wound related to my sex - all of my surgical history is related to being a woman 🙄

my breast scars are fading and feel reasonably smooth.

Thank you both! It’s genuinely massively helpful to hear your experiences. I think I was in a good place about the decision when I saw the first surgeon in Sept & sadly that consult set me back. I’m feel I’m better prepared now & am hopeful they will be more suitable. I will report back!
