I'm a rockstar on hiatus - Ask Me (Almost) Anything

I'm a semi-successful musician in a rock band. It's my only occupation, has been for some years. I've been a lot of places, seen a lot of stuff and met a lot of people. Ask me anything. I can't answer everything for various reasons but let's see how it goes...

I have a few posh drawstring laundry bags from the nice hotels. I once took a cake fork. I've stayed in hundreds of hotels so the novelty of the idea of taking things wore off long ago.
Have a son who could say the same. He and colleagues were sent home fromEuropean tour in February so one could say he is in hiatus. Thankfully he has more than one string to his bow (no pun intended), and is managing but life is very different......

Have you ever written something and then realised you’ve inadvertently copied something you’ve heard?

Are you in Elbow or Kaiser Chiefs? I remember one KC’s gig years ago when a friend got so drunk on the way up in the mini bus that he doesn’t remember any of it. Shame as it was epic 😂

LadyfromtheBelleEpoque · 29/12/2020 17:45

I think I may have seen you in Venice in 2007.

So not Kaiser Chiefs despite the outrageous theft of a cake fork?! My goodness I know you are famous but cake forks?! GrinGrinGrin

Inarightpickleandpreserve · 30/12/2020 02:38

Second guess is The Wanted....
just speculating as it’s intriguing and I’ve had a lot of wine Wine

Vellinbracelet · 30/12/2020 02:55

I think you are grant from Feeder

KatnissNeverseen · 30/12/2020 19:00

I love this by Feeder
@crosser62 that's a great question. Travelling the world has actually made me appreciate the UK even more. No extreme weather, no poisonous creatures, good healthcare, generally friendly and honest society with good moral standards, being generally safe on the street and having access to everything the world has to offer - I wish more people knew how lucky we are to love here. The UK isn't perfect, but I don't complain anymore.
I 'get' that, I have a relative who plays all over the world and says the same. I agree we are fortunate here.

LadyfromtheBelleEpoque · 30/12/2020 21:31

@jessstan2

People need to travel more to see it - the complaints about the UK are extraordinarily petty once you have seen poverty/female abuse/lack of basic infrastructure in other countries that are developed let alone developing ones.

MatildaonaWaltzer · 30/12/2020 21:36

what do you think of Tom Gray off Gomez' comments to the gov't enquiry on streaming rates? he seems to have forgotten to mention the seven figure loan that was never paid back which is a shame as it rather destroyed his credibility on anything else.

Fiddlersgreen · 30/12/2020 23:36

I love Feeder but Grant has a cat and Feeder formed in the 90s whereas the OP said they have no pets and the band formed in early 2000s
Vellinbracelet · 31/12/2020 10:28

After I posted I checked the dates, can't believe it was so long ago.
I love Feeder and knowing Grant is a cat person makes me like them more Xmas Smile

SweetnSaltyPopcornPlease · 31/12/2020 11:16

I love cats. Other people's cats.

That doesn't surprise me, Lady.

Dazzledrop · 31/12/2020 15:57

This has been a great thread but I have to ask.... are you in Temples?!

Corriefan2021 · 31/12/2020 16:43

The View aren’t together anymore I don’t think?

One of their members does drum lessons just now though which I thought the OP mentioned?

They’re my favourite bad so I’d die if it was Kyle.

Staffy1 · 01/01/2021 18:17

Oh, this thread has been active again! I just searched for it, wondering if anyone had heard an interview mentioning sweet and salty popcorn. So it's still a mystery...

SweetnSaltyPopcornPlease · 01/01/2021 19:24

I'll pop in over the next couple of days for any music industry related questions, before I get busy with stuff next week. Happy new year everyone!

Happy New Year to you and I hope this year is better for the industry.
PurpleSweetPeas · 02/01/2021 00:22

@wishywashywoowoo70

God I miss gigs.

Though I have tickets to next years Steelhouse festival and some of the new announcements are disappointing for me

Would that be somewhere you'd play OP?

Ooo, we have tickets for Steelhouse as well. Really hope it goes ahead this year Smile
LadyfromtheBelleEpoque · 02/01/2021 09:14

There are loads of festivals planned. Pixies are playing Dublin or Cork. Nile Rodgers was booked to play in Spain?, Debbie Harry, Duran Duran, Patti Smith.

Lots of the oldies🙂

Zakana · 05/01/2021 09:48

I know it isn’t but soooo wish it was Liam Gallagher, or even Noel at a push!

bananarama79 · 05/01/2021 14:06

The view?

Scabber · 28/04/2021 21:15

Wonder how OP is doing

HyggeTygge · 08/12/2021 10:08

Got any more clues for us OP @SweetnSaltyPopcornPlease ?
