I'm a semi-successful musician in a rock band. It's my only occupation, has been for some years. I've been a lot of places, seen a lot of stuff and met a lot of people. Ask me anything. I can't answer everything for various reasons but let's see how it goes...

Merry Christmas all! What a bloody awful year, ay? You couldn't make it up! I have been considering how the pandemic has impacted mental health and decided to pop in to answer some more questions. Hopefully providing some short term distraction from the claustrophobic misery that is lockdown.
Little reminder - I'm here to give you some insight into the music industry. If I revealed myself there may be repercussions for my honesty. Fire away?...

While you are at home during this pandemic, do you do other paid work from home?

Not currently, although I am looking to sort out a home studio so I can continue doing voiceovers. I'd prefer not to talk and breathe into a covid infested microphone in a covid soaked foam-lined room.

Do you suffer from insomnia or just like staying up late?
I just can’t sleep!

I used to be semi pro myself and have a lot of musician friends who are really struggling now. Have you regretted your career choice at any point this year? Not just as a "fuck, this is annoying", but genuinely wished you'd chosen another path?

I fell asleep on the sofa around 9 and woke up around midnight. Been busy sending WhatsApp Christmas messages to friends. It's late but I've had responses!

This is my problem I had a power nap this afternoon sleeping off the lunchtime booze and am now wide awake!

I last had a payslip over 10 years ago so I'm not sure what the hell I would do! I meet people all the time who wish they had followed their dreams or their passion but life got in the way. They are daily reminders of why I have absolutely no regrets. I mostly find it upsetting for all the people in the industry who are not musicians. What do the roadies and venues and session musicians do? I could name 20 other occupations within music that are suffering. How sad.

Whose performance in rock history is the best you have heard? I am currently listening to this over and over and it is extraordinary. I knew he was brilliant but this performance is another level - the extended guitar solo lifts me so high - it can’t be bettered.
