I'm a semi-successful musician in a rock band. It's my only occupation, has been for some years. I've been a lot of places, seen a lot of stuff and met a lot of people. Ask me anything. I can't answer everything for various reasons but let's see how it goes...

Are you in the U.K.?
If you are, why are you in the U.K?
You must have seen some amazing places, has nowhere made you want to move away?

SweetnSaltyPopcornPlease · 24/07/2020 20:22

@RunningFromInsanity HAHAHA! I get what you mean. I once invited a new friend to a show. He expected a dozen people down the local pub. The hugely popular venue in London was sold out, the crowd knew the words, he had to wait over an hour afterwards as I had to sign autographs etc. He later said, he hadn't thought it was a big deal because he knows countless people in bands. Pub bands. Lol

@Harriedharriet I've been in the band since day one, and am one of the songwriters.

What nationality are you ?

Sofasogood1 · 24/07/2020 20:27

The80sweregreat · 24/07/2020 20:28

What is your drug of choice? If any

FlowerTink · 24/07/2020 20:29

How long have you been going as a band?

BreconBeBuggered · 24/07/2020 20:30

Have you supported any bands we'd have heard of? If so, what's it like being the act only a few have come to see?

SweetnSaltyPopcornPlease · 24/07/2020 20:31

@crosser62 that's a great question. Travelling the world has actually made me appreciate the UK even more. No extreme weather, no poisonous creatures, good healthcare, generally friendly and honest society with good moral standards, being generally safe on the street and having access to everything the world has to offer - I wish more people knew how lucky we are to love here. The UK isn't perfect, but I don't complain anymore.

Does it feel like a job to you? Can you imagine ever doing something different?

What's the best venue/event you've performed at/in.

Who are your favourite bands/musicians?

crosser62 · 24/07/2020 20:32

How do you see the future of big gigs?

Also, do you agree that people with huge BIG hair should be relegated to the back of a concert, they severely restrict (my) the view to the band (Dave Grohl) who could be my next husband..

How did you get into songwriting?

daisychain1620 · 24/07/2020 20:34

You mentioned festivals, which ones have you played at and which was your favourite?
Where do you normally live?

SweetnSaltyPopcornPlease · 24/07/2020 20:35

@BreconBeBuggered a few yes. But now we are the band that has support acts. In the early days we supported Kasabian. The venue had to provide dinner. We were quite happy with our large tray of sandwiches and plus crisps. Until we saw them being served a full Sunday roast with all the trimmings, gravy and cloth napkins 😂 We felt like proper paupers.

What are your plans for the future?

Staffy1 · 24/07/2020 20:36

What possessed you to start this thread? Extreme boredom?

InTheShadowOfTheMushroomCloud · 24/07/2020 20:36

Are you my brother in law? He is a rock star (guitarist) and pretty famous. But I know how his farts smell and he picks his nose! He is lovely...really!

SweetnSaltyPopcornPlease · 24/07/2020 20:38

@BreconBeBuggered it's definitely a challenge though. The band really wants their fans to like you as much as they do, hence why we are chosen. But the crowd doesn't care about you. So it's a battle to win them over. It usually takes a few songs but we always have them by the end. We also get a very short soundcheck if any. This can make things hard because you don't know what it's going to sound like on stage or if you'll be able to hear what you need to hear on stage. (All band member have different requirements).

What are you currently doing now you're on hiatus with the covid situation? Are you writing songs or at home with family for example?

oakleaffy · 24/07/2020 20:41

Reminds me of this :
