Thanks, just signed up. Didn't realise you could volunteer.

tempestterra · 23/05/2020 20:56

Mrsrogerlima Do they check to see if you've already been exposed to the 'real' virus before they give you the vaccine?

MrsHardbroom · 23/05/2020 21:54

My friend is a HCP involved in administering the vaccine.
Yes, you get an antibody test prior at a screening appointment prior to being vaccinated. If it shows you have/have had covid, you are then ineligible for vaccination. You also have to have a negative pregnancy test

MrsRogerLima · 23/05/2020 23:13

@tempestterra yes, I had a blood test at my screening health check.

I would have been ineligible for the trial if I had shown covid antibodies in my blood, meaning I would already have had the virus.

They need people who haven't contract the virus to test the vaccines success.

How’s it going? Have you had your vaccine yet? Hope all is well

noarguments · 24/06/2020 15:33

@MrsRogerLima
Hello, me too! I’ve passed the screening and the vaccine is happening tomorrow. Did you go ahead and has it all been ok so far?

Longtalljosie · 26/06/2020 16:46

Will they really never tell you? Surely if you had the meningitis jab and a Covid jab came in the market, they’d have to say “actually you’re not inoculated”?

noarguments · 26/06/2020 21:11

I was told that I would be informed which I had at the end of the trial.
