Since we have a Chinese takeaway one on here now, thought I’d join in! Grin AMA

Is there still a big scrap going on with franchisees and head office / the CEO? (Reported in the press quite a bit)

DillBaby · 27/01/2020 23:44

Why are the gluten free bases only available in small?
I’ve noticed this too. It’s annoying because it means we can’t take advantage of any of the deals because they all require you to choose a medium or large pizza!

IHaveBrilloHair · 27/01/2020 23:46

I never use them as they don't do anchovies, they should.

bakedbeanzontoast · 28/01/2020 10:53

I think they got rid of the tuna delight too 😩

pineapplepepperoni · 28/01/2020 12:48

@Waterandlemonjuice I don’t remember anchovies being a very popular topping when it was sold, although I do know that a lot of people feel a proper pizza place should definitely have them on the menu!

@Waterandlemonjuice No idea, I haven’t heard anything about that but sounds interesting.

@DillBaby Often you can still use the medium/large pizza offers on gluten-free pizza :)

@bakedbeanzontoast My store still does the tuna delight :) Even if it’s not on the menu then most stores still do all the toppings for it so it can be ordered as a create your own.

hi
i've ordered from dominos before hoping to get a really cheesy stringy pizza. how do i order to get that because previously i ordered margarita extra cheese and it wasn't that stringy cheesy type like you see on tv

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 23/02/2020 22:46

Are there really people who pay full price without quibble? Grin

What do you say to people that order at (say) 7pm Sat then complain if it takes a while?

How many free pizzas do you get?

Do you give regulars (or just friendly polite customers) anything free/extra stuff?

FaiIWorseAgain · 31/07/2020 23:08

Resurrecting as just had first Dominos in 13 years and Dom the robot was the best entertainment we've had all day Blush
We played with it and tried to get it to do stuff on refresh - does this mean the franchise thought I was impatient or did they realize that I am a geek! Grin

Pelleas · 31/07/2020 23:12

What! Domino's no longer do anchovies???? Waaaaah!

Elouera · 31/07/2020 23:14

I've always assumed this type of role to be a temp thing for students or teens. Do you or any colleagues there see this as your forever job, or do you and the majority of others have other professions they are pursuing?

shallpoetwake · 31/07/2020 23:15

If I'm called Karen can I have a free pizza please ?

Holdingtherope · 31/07/2020 23:22

Dom the robot?

Kerberos · 31/07/2020 23:27

Why are the potato wedges always undercooked?

FaiIWorseAgain · 31/07/2020 23:29

holding it was a while you wait/see how your order is progressing robot - it had eyes like WALL-E's girlfriend and said things like it was my new best friend, when robots take over the world everyone will know when their pizza is ready, ouch you meanie (kids were clicking on its eyes), about this robot upris....oh sorry, let's see if your pizza is ready Grin
I am easily amused, the kids were totally enamoured with it, I'd reorder pizza again just to keep them that quiet tbh Wink
I assumed it was a new thing, maybe it's been around for years but it has been over a decade since I ordered from Dominos.

ouch321 · 31/07/2020 23:33

Doubt OP will see as thread old but what is the most ordered pizza?

Margherita?

pineapplepepperoni · 01/08/2020 00:46

Completely forgot I made this! Grin

@justaskingq Lol they always show that Domino’s advert on either ITV player or 4od (can’t remember which) with the super-stringy cheese. It’s very misleading! You can order triple cheese on a pizza so that could be worth a try? Not sure whether it would have the exact effect though 😂

@BuzzShitbagBobbly Vast majority of customers use the offers. You do get the odd customer who pays full-price though, even ones on the phone who still aren’t interested in having the same pizza plus a load of sides for a pound cheaper when you explain the offer!

We generally let customers know on the phone what the current expected delivery time is so they should know when it’s particularly busy, I think online ordering does the same. Obviously there are still complaints every so often and how they’re dealt with all depend on the situation and which manager is on.

You get a small pizza to eat on shift as part of break. Generally you can also have uncollected orders and incorrectly made pizzas but some managers don’t approve and will chuck any spares.

At a store I worked at previously the store manager was friendly with a lot of the regulars and would sometimes add on some extras for them. Not seen it at my current store though.

@FailWorseAgain is that the robot thing on the tracker app? Grin

@Elouera No I don’t see it as a longterm thing really, the evenings and degree of flexibility just work okay for me at the moment. There are a mixture of people really- some do make a career out of it, I’d say it’s relatively easier and quicker than other places (supermarkets or other retail) to progress up to manager roles. However there is a high turnover of staff and a lot of colleagues (particularly the delivery drivers) are doing it to help fund uni or as a second job to earn extra money.

@shallpoetwake I have briefly heard about free pizza for Karen’s but I’ve no idea what or where this is 😂

@Kerberos Everything goes through the same oven for the same amount of time and I just don’t think it’s quite enough for the wedges. I always put them through twice if I make them for myself. Some customers request this also.

@ouch321 Definitely pepperoni passion!

How are online delivery "catchment areas" worked out? Ours changed from one that had been good to a different one that gave us a string of cold pizzas.

TWAMSWIAO · 01/08/2020 01:11

I love Dominos SO MUCH!

We’re in the middle of 3 store and must be the one place that none of them deliver too. It’s bloody hard.

shallpoetwake · 01/08/2020 03:10

They did free pizza in NZ for women called Karen,

GoldilocksAndTheThreePears · 01/08/2020 03:41

That's interesting about the timings, I had to stop getting the chicken strippers as they just never seem to be cooked properly. The wedges too but the chicken worries me more! I really miss the flat Italian range, never found another pizza like the one with ham and rocket on.

This is a question for anyone at all who uses Dominos currently- is the range currently as small as mine? At the moment on the site they are back up to 12 pizza, one dessert (cookies of course), the sides and 4 drink choices. I'm wondering if things like those wraps and other desserts have stopped altogether or will make a comeback!

Gingerkittykat · 01/08/2020 05:09

Are you told to put a certain amount of toppings on?

They seem really stingy with toppings, especially cheese.

uglyface · 01/08/2020 05:44

How do you order triple cheese on a pizza? There seems to be no option to add this...

Gee1235 · 04/08/2020 22:02

Why can I only order double pineapple it's never enough how can I get them to put loads on😂

chunkyrun · 04/08/2020 22:06

How do you feel about Pizza Hut? I love dominoes but I prefer the Pizza Hut stuffed garlic ball crust

cheeseandhambaguette · 05/08/2020 20:50

I don’t know how the catchment areas are worked out but they’re very strict about it and we’re not allowed to bend the rules at all.

I really wish they would address the oven timings! When the cheesy wedges were on the menu they were even worse- some would be practically rock hard. The manager kept moaning at us when customers complained, insisting that we weren’t spreading them out properly. He just would not admit the issue was they weren’t getting enough time cooking.

Yes we’re shown how much topping to put on, some managers/stores can be particularly stingy though. I’ve found every so often the store decides we’ve been using too much cheese or toppings and gets really strict about keeping it light.

Triple cheese has definitely come up on the makeline screen a few times so there must be a way- whether or not there’s a special way to do it online or if you have to phone and order through the store I’m not sure!

If you’re ordering over the phone just mention that your last order was lacking pineapple (or whichever topping) and you hope this one will be better, they’ll likely compensate with a generous amount :)

I’m not in a catchment area for Pizza Hut delivery, I’ve eaten in a couple of their restaurants before and the pizza was nice enough. Would probably order if I had the option.
