How successful is your blog.... stats....is it your full time work?

I personally think the term is bandied about too much by hobbyists....

wishfulwillywonky · 15/03/2019 19:08

@BerryMenthol I've been going for about a year and had over 1 million views in total and currently have about 3-4K visitors a day... unless I have a viral spike

I earn about 2k a month at the moment but could definitely be earning more

I agree... the word blogger is thrown about left right and centre :)

And yes, it's my full time job... I've just started blog number 2! Smile

Well done especially only starting a year ago. Every man and his dog seems to be blogging/youtube or have a instagram page specifically for something and do not seem to realise it is a saturated market and also difficult to stay current....
The number of girls I see on facebook who have started a makeup and lifestyle blog/vlog and claim it is their job when I get more likes on a (private) facebook status from my aunts about my dog farting then they have viewers is insane...

Imacliche · 15/03/2019 19:14

What is your blog about? There seems to be endless "fashion" and makeup blogs. Would love to see one with a bit of depth to it to be honest.

wishfulwillywonky · 15/03/2019 19:18

@BerryMenthol tbh I haven't even began trying to build my Facebook page up yet. Apparently the algorithms favour 'friends' content... it's kinda a pay to play thing now.

@Imacliche my blog is mainly diy, home decor and crafts :)

@BerryMenthol and thank you! I feel like I've been lucky but I was as determined as anything to make it work Smile

Are you posting to try to boost clicks? Grin

At least it's not another vegan food blog.

wishfulwillywonky · 15/03/2019 19:23

@Whatsnewpussyhat haha that is a common issue with bloggers... you never know if they're just trying to get clicks ;) ... not going to post my link for that reason Grin

OP posts:
Imacliche · 15/03/2019 19:30

Ahh my kinda blog then. Always something ive wanted to do. .my main working background is in all aspects of online marketing web design seo etc so seemed a natural progression but it just seems so heavily saturated now. I may get there one day.

wishfulwillywonky · 15/03/2019 19:33

@Imacliche honestly it's the best thing I've ever done and love it! It seems saturated but there's definitely room for more because it's you who makes your blog individual :) I don't know if that makes sense Grin

OP posts:
Whatsnewpussyhat · 15/03/2019 19:34

I would've clicked though! Grin

wishfulwillywonky · 15/03/2019 19:36

@Whatsnewpussyhat right I'm posting my link! Ha ;)

prettywhiteguitar · 15/03/2019 19:37

Are they your hobbies or was it to do with your profession ? What wa stour job before blogging and why have you decided to do it?

prettywhiteguitar · 15/03/2019 19:37

Argh what was your job !

Imacliche · 15/03/2019 19:38

I think i will do it anyway as its more about getting knowledge out there than any actual monetary return for me. Its just finding the time to do it 😂

wishfulwillywonky · 15/03/2019 19:42

@prettywhiteguitar crafts and diy are definitely my hobbies too... it started more as a mummy lifestyle blog but the posts that 'took off' were the home decor and craft ones so it kinda went in that direction naturally.

OP posts:
SydnayGreen · 15/03/2019 19:42

How do you earn a wage from this?

Whatsnewpussyhat · 15/03/2019 19:43

C'mon, I'm just considering buying a vintage sideboard to upcycle for my hallway. I love this stuff.

Doglikeme · 15/03/2019 19:44

How long did it take for things to 'take off'?

wishfulwillywonky · 15/03/2019 19:44

@prettywhiteguitar I started the blog when I just finished uni and just before my youngest started school full time.

I wanted to give it a shot before I went to apply for 'proper jobs' as I really wanted to be able to work from home

OP posts:
wishfulwillywonky · 15/03/2019 19:45

@Imacliche yes go for it Grin it is kinda time consuming but it's still fun!

OP posts:
wishfulwillywonky · 15/03/2019 19:47

@Doglikeme It took about 4 months for me to get enough page views to be able to get an ad company on my site which is when I started earning 'proper money'

Some people do it quicker, but many people take longer

OP posts:
SlinkyDinkyDoo · 15/03/2019 19:47

How did you get traffic to your blog. That's a lot of visitors over a short period of time.

Is your blog linked to instagram?

Finally, do you think your blig took off because of content or your personality?

wishfulwillywonky · 15/03/2019 19:48

@Whatsnewpussyhat photograph your project and start a blog about it 😆 sounds like a perfect idea to promote on Pinterest ;)
