Anybody have a question?

OP posts:
SheStoopsToConker · 14/07/2018 20:37

How do you fund yourself and your children?

Procrastinate92 · 14/07/2018 20:38

My partner has a full time job, minimum wage but we get by, just about

OP posts:
Omgineedanamechange · 14/07/2018 20:39

Are you worried about how you’ll support yourself when the children are grown up?

Beebiesandcheebies · 14/07/2018 20:40

Why have you never had a job?

Partyfops · 14/07/2018 20:40

Do you plan on working at any point?

Johnnyfinland · 14/07/2018 20:40

Do you ever regret not pursuing a line of work that interests you? Are you planning to go to work when the children are older?

SheStoopsToConker · 14/07/2018 20:40

Or if something happens to your partner or if he leaves you? If you're not married then you won't be entitled to anything except the bare minimum from him.

ScreamingValenta · 14/07/2018 20:42

What would be your ideal job (other than bringing up your DC)?

JeezYouLoon · 14/07/2018 20:49

Did you never even have a Saturday or babysitting job as a teenager?

Procrastinate92 · 14/07/2018 20:50

We don't claim any benefits, my partner solely supports us.
Iv never had a job because I fell pregnant in my final year of college, so no qualifications, full time childcare for 1 child and part time for another would be all my wages gone.
Yes I do plan on working once my dd starts school.
I have been with my partner 10 years, hoping he dosent go anywhere anytime soonSmile
I would love to go back to college to study midwifery, not possible at the minute

OP posts:
Procrastinate92 · 14/07/2018 20:51

As a 13 and 14 year old I had a Saturday job

OP posts:
Partyfops · 14/07/2018 21:01

Surely you are entitled to some benefits if your DH is only on MW?

Procrastinate92 · 14/07/2018 21:03

Yes entitled to €20 a week. He has never claimed anything so dosent want to for the sake of €20

OP posts:
Beebiesandcheebies · 14/07/2018 21:07

£20 a week is £80 a month and would help you. What about child benefit?

bellinisurge · 14/07/2018 21:07

How much does you partner earn which he doesn't pay tax for. £20 a week is a lot of money to reject if you don't have much.

Procrastinate92 · 14/07/2018 22:55

We live in Ireland. So it works differently here

OP posts:
Procrastinate92 · 14/07/2018 22:56

Yes I get €280 a month on child benefit which everyone is entitled to

OP posts:
TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 14/07/2018 22:57

Depressing.

Bluntness100 · 14/07/2018 23:11

Please claim what you're entitled to, even if you simply save it for emergencies or for your kids.

I mean this politely but with one min wage earner supporting four people, you're pretty much living in poverty or on the breadline. With children to support, claim what you need to.

inniu · 14/07/2018 23:16

A family with 2 children in Ireland where the only income is a minimum wage at 40 hours per week would be entitled to about €144 per week in Working Family Payment or FIS. Why do you not get this?
Do you live in rented accommodation?

IsBrexitOverYet · 14/07/2018 23:19

Do you find people are negative because you’re a young SAHM? (Happens in my area 😢)
I’m just being nosey but what did you study at college?
Are you children at school yet?
X

Not a question OP but my sister had the first of her three children at 19 and didn’t have a job until she was I her late 30s. She loves working now and has been to college to get her level 2 and 3 qualifications.
You’re still so young and you have time to change if you ever decide you want to work in future.

macdhui · 14/07/2018 23:31

Having life experience and your own children makes such a difference being a midwife. When the time is right for you and your family to study I’m sure you will love it.

SamanthaH92 · 14/07/2018 23:31

Can i ask how old your children are? If 2 to 3 do you not get 30 hours free child care?
