I feel like I'm cheating slightly as I've already done one about my other job but happy to answer any questions about botox, fillers, chemical peels and medical microneedling! (I will not treat anyone that contacts me through mumsnet or give out my business name!)

Would you get it done?

fruitcider · 12/07/2018 20:33

I always have any new treatments I offer on myself, I need to know what I'm selling!

How do you feel at being part of a growing social message that says women need to look a certain way? Do you worry about how services like yours affect young women in particular?

Cacti · 12/07/2018 21:04

Do chemical peels actually work?

Cacti · 12/07/2018 21:06

Do you ever try to discourage very young women? My sister was 23 when she had her first Botox and I'm in my 30s not even considering something like that yet!

HeyPesto55 · 12/07/2018 21:17

Thanks. Excuse my ignorance, but are you a medically trained and qualified nurse?

Whatfreshhellisthis18 · 12/07/2018 21:18

Do lip fillers ever not look stupid?

This is something I'm very conscious of and I guess it boils down to why people want treatment, treatment should never be obvious and just leave people looking refreshed, my client base is very well refined eg men and women in their 40s+ who want to replace volume lost with age or who have aged beyond what is the norm, and I mean the norm rather than expected.

Yes to a certain extent, but only the deeper TCA peels give obvious results.

I have to have Botox on my forehead every 4 months to stop a facial spasm. I find it incredibly painful, I’ve tried Emla cream last time after a recommendation and literally smothering my face but it was still painful. Is there anything else I can try?

It depends. If a 23 year old woman approached me with the lines of a 33 year old woman I would treat. If a 20 year old woman had an obvious imbalance between her top and bottom lip I would treat. I wouldn't give preventative botox to a 23 year old though. Collagen production is very efficient until the age of 28, it's only at that point it starts to decline (unless someone is a heavy smoker or uses a lot of sunbeds). I normally try and redirect younger clients wanting botox to peels or microneedling.

Yes. I have another AMA running about my nhs job.

If you can tell they have been done then it's not a very good job that's been done...

How do you treat those lines around the mouth.

I've literally never had to use numbing cream on any patient for any botox ever. Perhaps it's your practitioners technique? Maybe they are mixing the botox with sterile water or sodium chloride instead of bacteriostatic saline. Is it the needle that hurts or the botox going in?

Do you prescribe?

Is it lucrative?

fruitcider · 12/07/2018 21:31

I personally use fillers not botox, there is various techniques involving filler injected vertically into the lines themselves, horizontally on the upper lip, injecting the vermillion border, or a combination of all 3.

Why does my BOTOX seem to be lasting less and less time? I've been having it done for 4 years and it started off as lasting 6ish months, now I'm feeling I need a top after just two 😞 I'm 33. Non smoker and wear sunblock if that matters.

newyorklover1 · 12/07/2018 21:34

Love this thread!

I'm getting Botox for crows feet - they're not really bad but I don't like them when I smile in pictures. Someone said that once I start I won't be able to stop because I will get used to having no wrinkles, do you find that is the case?

JessyJames · 12/07/2018 21:35

What extra training have you done?
I'm a nurse and would be interested in learning a new, lucrative, skill.

Choccablock · 12/07/2018 21:36

Are you an independent prescriber?
If not, how do you go about getting the prescriptions?

Do you work under a Patient Group Directive?

I'm thinking about training in Botox but concerned that as I am not an independent prescriber I would have to find one to see all my patients before I'm able to administer Botox. This would be so impractical if I were to set up my own business...?

fruitcider · 12/07/2018 21:38

Do you prescribe?

No, I employ a prescriber to carry out face to face consultations for botox on my behalf, my other treatments do not require a prescription. I want to do V300 (prescribing course) in 2019.

Is it lucrative?

It can be! I make anything from £30 to £122.50 a Treatment. Most appointments are around 1 hour long. I see 20-30 clients a month.

Try changing brand! Also your practitioner should use more units if needed.

Are you a sole trader or limited company?
Do you have a 'regular' nursing job too?

You still have wrinkles when you have botox, it prevents dynamic movement lines it doesn't get rid of static lines. It's primary purposes is to prevent more lines appearing.
