I feel like I'm cheating slightly as I've already done one about my other job but happy to answer any questions about botox, fillers, chemical peels and medical microneedling! (I will not treat anyone that contacts me through mumsnet or give out my business name!)

Do you use azzalure, botox or bocouture?
Or a mixture dependent on client preference?

fruitcider · 12/07/2018 21:42

I'm thinking about training in Botox but concerned that as I am not an independent prescriber I would have to find one to see all my patients before I'm able to administer Botox. This would be so impractical if I were to set up my own business...?

Even prescribing nurses cannot hold stock (unless in Scotland), unless you are a doctor or a dentist the patient must always be seen twice. I don't advertise botox because fillers are much more lucrative, but I do provide it for existing clients if they request it.

Are you a sole trader or limited company?
Do you have a 'regular' nursing job too?

I'm a sole trader at present.

I also work as a prison nurse.

I always trial azzalure for new patients, unless they request the botox brand specifically. Bocouture doesn't need to be kept in the fridge so I'm thinking of trialling that soon.

What extra training have you done?
I'm a nurse and would be interested in learning a new, lucrative, skill.

I did a foundation weekend with a training provider then paid for 1:1 mentoring by a well known doctor. After that I went on advanced filler and toxin training, peel training, and microneedling training. It was slow to begin with but I'm in my 10th month and I'm now seeing 20-30 clients a month.

I had Botox a month ago on my forehead.

Should I be able to move my forehead or not. I can when i lift my eyebrows up.

itsbritneybiatch · 12/07/2018 21:47

What's the best thing for under eye wrinkles treatment wise to prevent them getting any worse?

userxx · 12/07/2018 21:51

@guest2013 good question! I've thought exactly the same thing recently.

Loyaultemelie · 12/07/2018 21:51

Possibly slightly different but I'm waiting for Botox for migraine treatment and apparently there will be 37(!) needles I'm struggling to imagine where they will put them and will I be able to move my forehead? (I am staying away from google it won't be my friend!)

Choccablock · 12/07/2018 21:52

I'm being greedy... Another one!

So can a prescribing nurse not prescribe for another (non prescribing) nurse?

How does it work for you if you want to see a new client? Does it cost a large chunk of your profit to employ an independent prescriber to see your client before you administer the Botox?

That's interesting filler is more lucrative. I'd still be interested in offering Botox too.

Milkmonster2 · 12/07/2018 21:53

Do you have your own clinic/work in a clinic owned by someone else? Or do you work mobile?

fruitcider · 12/07/2018 21:53

Yes, the frozen look is not good.

Do you mean laterally towards your temple or directly underneath your eyes?

Do you charge VAT?

The majority will be in your scalp, it shouldn't be painful and you should have some movement in your forehead left Smile

Directly under my eyes

muminmanchester · 12/07/2018 21:57

I have chronic contact urticaria which I've suffered with since the age of 4. I'd like to have Botox but I'm scared of having an adverse reaction - would you allow a patient with a condition like this to have treatment?

fruitcider · 12/07/2018 21:59

I'm being greedy... Another one!

Ask as many as you like, I don't mind!

So can a prescribing nurse not prescribe for another (non prescribing) nurse?

Yes my prescriber is a nurse.

How does it work for you if you want to see a new client? Does it cost a large chunk of your profit to employ an independent prescriber to see your client before you administer the Botox?

It costs me £30 more per client. My prescriber will see my client, write a prescription, give the prescription to me, I then order the medicine and have my botox delivered to me to administer. A face to face consultation is needed before every treatment. I still make £60 a client though!

That's interesting filler is more lucrative. I'd still be interested in offering Botox too

It's good to offer both, and loyal clients will not mind the wait.

No, because I am not VAT registered (yet).

Directly under my eyes

Plasma pen would be best - just don't go to a beauty therapist for it!

I would take a full allergy history and do a test patch. Recent bloods for IgE would also be helpful.

I rent a CQC registered clinic room on a ad hoc basis.

I've just had my second lot of azzalure today, 2 areas for £99 - is this an average price? It's an a&e doctor that does mine

That's VERY cheap. I charge £200! I would make a loss at £99.

Where and how do you advertise?
How old are you?

And thanks for answering all the questions!

wordsmithsforever · 12/07/2018 22:06

I've read some research about botox being trialled as a treatment for depression. The study I read about involved people being injected between the eyebrows - basically where the 11 frown wrinkles form. In your experience, do your clients ever report any mental health improvements when you inject in that spot? I'm quite intrigued because that area is the third eye and relevant in a lot eastern therapies/acupunture/meditation so it's interesting. I suppose people could cheer up from having the frown itself eased out - look better and so feel better but has anyone ever said anything to you about feeling happier (not just looking better)?
