I feel like I'm cheating slightly as I've already done one about my other job but happy to answer any questions about botox, fillers, chemical peels and medical microneedling! (I will not treat anyone that contacts me through mumsnet or give out my business name!)

I've heard that Botox is now being used more than filler to give a lift to lower face "jowls". Do you see this trend happening more, my friend has a cosmetic surgeon who she sees and he is now recommending this as a cheaper and more effective treatment.

Jowl botox and high cheek fillers will rectify most jowls very nicely without the need for surgery, however it is hard to convince clients that this is what they really need as they just see the line in the marionette area and assume it's that line that just needs filling, they don't understand that the sag comes from upper and midface volume loss initially!

Also skin booster injections seem to be a new trend, do you use them, and how effective are the results ?
TIA.

Yes profhilo has amazing results and I would definitely recommend it, I'm not too keen on other brands though.

I’d love tear trough filler but am scared of the pain! How painful/uncomfortable is it?

I've had this done with both a cannula and a needle and it really isn't that bad, the skin under the eyes doesn't have that many nerve endings though the sensation of a cannula is a bit odd.

I had it a week ago and not noticed much difference. How long should I wait before speaking to the nurse again, and when people talk about having a top-up is it much cheaper?

If there hasn't been a marked improvement by 14 days you should ask for a review, I review at 21 days rather than 14 but anything between 14 days and 21 days is fine. Your top up (if needed) should be free, though some do charge (especially if the initial treatment was free).

Initial treatment was CHEAP not free!

Thanks for the reply, great to have an insight from someone in the know.

fruitcider · 13/07/2018 07:42

I’m going to have it for the first time on Monday. What questions should I be asking? Anything to look out for? Thanks

Which treatment are you having?

Does micro needling work for old acne scars

Yes, multiple sessions will be needed but the results will be worth it, and the added side effect of increasing collagen production will last for up to 5 years so it's a worthwhile investment!

I have a deep line between my eyebrows which maybe from squinting, it’s starting to really bother me (late 40s), would this be treated with Botox or fillers? Would fillers hurt more than Botox? Thank you!

fruitcider · 13/07/2018 07:46

The famous doctor who trained you - is she the doctor who was on The Apprentice?

Sadly not, now that would be good marketing though! (Scurries off to google said doctors number)

I really would not advise having fillers in that area, even though some practitioners offer it. This is because there is a heightened risk of filler being accidentally injected in a blood vessel which can cause an embolism. I personally do not treat 11s or temples with filler as it's a risk I'm not prepared to take. Repeated botox will soften it over time, as will finding out the reason for why you squint eg making sure you wear glasses if you need them and that they are the right strength, wearing sunglasses in bright sunlight etc

Re Botox working for jowles, where would do you have the bottox for that area?

Many thanks!

mumpatrol · 13/07/2018 08:10

I have stretch marks on my belly, outside thigh and on the inside of my legs from 2 pregnancies.
Some are quite deep and were a deep purple before they faded.

Would you recommend micro needling? And does it just reduce them or does it pretty much get rid of them?

LadyRochfordsHoickedGusset · 13/07/2018 08:44

Is it true that if you've had Botox regularly and then stop that the facial muscles have been weakened so you look worse afterwards than if you'd never had it?

fruitcider · 13/07/2018 09:18

This is how jowls are lifted using botox.

It depends on the original depth, sometimes we can almost get rid of stretch marks but for severe cases the aim would be to fade rather than remove, have a consultation with someone that does medical grade microneedling (not a beauty therapist with a derma roller but someone that uses a high quality electronic device such as the dermapen), they will be able to give you an idea.

No! Botox simply slows down the ageing process by causing a mild muscle atrophy (weakening), when botox is discontinued muscles regain their strength over time and the ageing process via dynamic movement restarts, but it does not accelerate, this is one of the myths I hear frequently.

What's your business turnover and profit?

Hi OP just popping on to say it's refreshing to see an Aesthetics nurse who clearly follows good practice guidelines, and knows her stuff! I'm also in the industry (as a clinic manager as opposed to the treatment side of things - DH is our Aesthetics doctor) and the amount of 'cowboy' practitioners we hear about and come across is worrying. My advice to our clients is always this - if it seems too good (read: cheap) to be true, then it's usually because it is!

Enjoying your thread anyway OP Smile (I wonder if we follow each other's pages on Instagram Grin)

What's your business turnover and profit?

My turn over is less than the VAT threshold and my profit is minimal as I reinvest most of it Wink

Marypoppins I have close to 1000 followers and follow over 2000 myself so there's a good possibility! Smile And thank you I try and run a tight ship and make sure all of my paperwork and policies/procedures are in good order, I also use my insta/Facebook to promote safety and educate clients what they should be looking out for and what should make them run for the hills. I saw tear "through" fillers advertised at £50 today ShockShockShockShockShock

Contemplating using botox for the first time.

After you've had it done, does it feel different. If I move my face around now, it feels free and I like that feeling. How does it feel when you've had botox? Losing feeling scares me.

dietstartsmonday · 13/07/2018 21:16

I have deep lines near my mouth and look droopy. What would help this and what sort of cost would I be looking at? Thanks
