I know it isn't a male only phenomena but there must clearly be some differences

54321go · 04/07/2018 18:37

I left, partly because I was told to, and partly because I was physically and mentally abused.

charis · 04/07/2018 18:40

That is a seriously good blog post. Everyone should read it.

sacredgeometry · 04/07/2018 18:41

Charis - Which blog ?

Gonna ask you to break ‘guy rules’ here. If you dare.
In a stag do, is there ever anyone who doesn’t go into the strip club. And of the ones that do, I am guess that all pay for extras?

What % of your male friends use /or have used prostitutes ?

Do you have a daughter? If so, knowing what you know about man (because women can’t even really know what men are like when it’s just men, if you see what I mean), do you worry about how she will be treated growing up.

Thanks for taking the time to respond to these. Very interesting, and I promise I won’t give you a hard time, whatever your answers!

Its been a while since I've been on a stag but in the past they have involved strip clubs and everybody went. Not everyone paid for private dances though. And in the ones i went in there were no "extras" as far as im aware.

Only one of my friends has used them as far as I'm aware. He was single at the time if that makes a difference. I dont think men brag about using them so it could be more.

Yes i worry she will be judged on her looks, i worry about her maintaining confidence throughout her teen years. I worry about her being used by men.

What is your experience of women at your work? And do you encourage your wife to work (outside of the home)?

Ta

Ploppymoodypants · 04/07/2018 18:54

Thanks OP, that was interesting.

charis · 04/07/2018 18:55

Pp posted it but amazing. herriotts.wordpress.com/?s=Ultramen

tectonicplates · 04/07/2018 18:57

What is your opinion on men who visit prostitutes? And is there a difference between men who do it all the time vs men who did it as a one-off? Is there a "type" who does it regularly?

sacredgeometry · 04/07/2018 18:58

Lamain

There are only men where i work apart from reception.

I have worked with women in my last job - (they were a minority) No problems they were as qualified as me and did well as anyone else. Ive had female managers in the past and again no issues.

I do encourage her and hopefully she will go back as the children get older. unfortunately due to the nature of my job I cannot be relied on for childcare (i can be called away for weeks at a time on short notice) having said that im also at home a lot of the time

Really gets the point across what I was saying about situational awareness and being half the strength of half the folk you're dealing with every day. Or night or perhaps not because you're not allowed out at night.

sacredgeometry · 04/07/2018 19:04

Tectonicplates

I suppose i dislike that a woman would have to do that and with the possibility they are being forced into it or are supporting a drug problem means its a sad issue.

I might feel different if it was done like in Australia or Holland where it is regulated and im told safer. I mean i hear that some women choose to do it ? I dont think about it too much.

My opinion of men that use them ? Mixed feelings - part of me thinks its pathetic but then part of me thinks that we all need sex at least occasionally ! Some men cant find a partner ? What are they supposed to do ?

Charis,

I just read it. It reminded me of when i was about 13/14 and hadnt yet developed into a man. My school and town was full of assholes who liked punching people / bullying l. I remember feeling quite scared a lot of the time at school and around town.

Yes male violence is a problem. Even in DV stats it'll be male on male violence. But street violence is terrible and men are more subject to it of the worst kind.

My best friend got horribly beaten up just for being a goth (showing my age here)

My new question is, is your wife reading this?

sacredgeometry · 04/07/2018 19:17

No she isn't.

Are you in the US?

sacredgeometry · 04/07/2018 19:36

Rose - No UK

sirlee66 · 04/07/2018 19:41

Which do you think hurts more: giving birth or getting kicked in the balls?

RoseWhiteTips · 04/07/2018 19:41

Ok. Thanks.

sacredgeometry · 04/07/2018 19:44

Sirlee

Im guessing giving Birth because being kicked in the balls doesn't last for hours.

Are you able to find anything? Like car keys, socks, parts of toys, the chicken for dinner, without explicit instructions about the whereabouts of the item in question, and reminders that you may have to look behind/ under/ inside other items? If the answer is yes, are you certain you’re actually male?

^ (DH, FIL and DS1 are all totally incapable of finding anything. Trying to determine if it’s sex-based or just some kind of genetic flaw.)

MissConductUS · 04/07/2018 19:50

I knew you were in the UK because I've never heard of meat auctions. Are they a thing in the UK?

You sound like a good guy. 😃

MissConductUS · 04/07/2018 19:55

Ave my DH is brilliant at finding things and I'm not. When the kids were at the age where they constantly misplaced things they always went to him for help, so I don't think it's sex related.

AveAtqueVale · 04/07/2018 19:58

MissConductUS that’s interesting. My dad and ex-boyfriend were both crap at finding things too, though admittedly to a much lesser extent than my current three examples. Maybe it’s just the men I know...
