Best Crocs

Crocs are back! Although, let’s be honest - did they ever leave? Mumsnetters love a classic Croc. They’re comfortable, versatile, and suitable for all the family. And while they may have been the butt of many a joke over the years, fashion’s who’s who (read: your teenage daughter or niece) have decided they are a must-have item right now. That works for us!

Crocs have come a long way since the Classic Clog was released in the early 00s. You’ll now find Crocs ballerinas, flip flops, wedge sandals, and even wellies. Most of which are customisable with decorative Jibbitz, of course.

Here are the best Crocs to buy for every occasion.

1. Best overall Crocs: Crocs Unisex Classic Clog

Classic Crocs

Price: £17 | Buy now from Amazon

"I love them. Have two pairs of clogs. When I met DP he laughed at my un-trendiness, he now has two pairs and thinks they are great" - rated by Mumsnet user, geillisduncan

"They’re deceptively comfortable!" - recommended by Mumsnet user, Emmelina

Croc’s Classic Clogs are the original comfortable and versatile shoe. Although not everyone loves the look of these, er, quirky shoes, even this most basic of Crocs is scoring some serious style points with young fashionistas these days. For the rest of us? Well, we love these for many reasons: they’re breathable yet waterproof, the heel strap offers a secure fit, and they're seriously lightweight and pleasant to wear. If you’re a newbie to the Crocs world, then starting with the Classic Clog is a good choice, and there’s a rainbow of colours to choose from.

2. Best stylish Crocs: Crocs Women's Brooklyn Low Wedge Outdoor Sandals

Crocs wedge sandals

Price: £40 | Buy now from Amazon

"I have a pair of wedge heeled Croc sandals which are stupidly comfortable" - recommended by Mumsnet user, UseYourIllusion

Now these Crocs are naice. The flatform design gets some serious style points, but without sacrificing comfort. Like all Crocs, these are lightweight with a textured sole. The rear ankle strap is adjustable, and the branding is subtle so you can keep the fact they are Crocs on the down low. We’re going to buy these in both Pale Pink and Black to go with all our spring/summer outfits.

3. Best cool Crocs: Women’s Classic Platform Crocs

Platform Crocs

Price: £45 | Buy now from Crocs

Yep, it’s official - these are the Crocs that style influencers swear by. Platform Crocs are very similar looks-wise to the Classic Clog, but with a bigger platform (funny that). Reviewers say these run a little small and narrow, so if you’ve always found Crocs too wide then this could be the style for you. Platform Crocs include all the features that we love about this shoe brand - the unique textured footbed, lightweight design, and holes to add Jibbitz for customisation. We like the way the ‘youths’ style these with dresses and jeans for a comfy, summery outfit.

4. Best Crocs flip flops: Crocs Unisex Crocband Flip

Crocs flip flops

Price: £10 | Buy now from Amazon

"I love a Croc. I live in my Croc flip flops just now" - tried and tested by Mumsnet user, PufferFishGoneWrong

"I have just ordered new flip flop Crocs. They are the only flip flops I can wear as they don't let me go over the side of the sole, as moulded to keep your feet in place. Love them" - vetted by Mumsnet user, abouttogoon

If you’ve struggled with flip flops previously, then Crocs’ version could be the solution, as Mumsnetters say they provide extra support and grip. The textured, moulded footbed provides the comfort and support that Crocs are known for, and they’re easy to clean, water-resistant, and lightweight too. The simple, sporty look will convert even the most passionate Croc-haters to the club.

5. Best Crocs sandals: Crocs Unisex Classic Sandal

Crocs unisex sandal

Price: £15 | Buy now from Amazon

If Birkenstocks and Crocs had a baby, it would be the Crocs Classic Sandal. With the two-bar front and backless heel design, this Crocs model resembles a more traditional summer sandal, but with all the comfort that is so central to this brand. Because they’re water-resistant, these sandals would be especially great for poolside holidays, or visits to waterparks. Like most Crocs, these come in a wide range of colours, and we especially like the idea of the Neon Purple, Orange Sorbet and Electric Pink pairs for some summer fun.

6. Best Crocs sliders: Crocs Unisex's Classic Slide Sandal

Crocs sliders

Price: £8 | Buy now from Amazon

Crocs make a great holiday shoe due to the waterproof (and buoyant) design, and this slider style feels even more summery than the Classic Clog. This lightweight slider is a bargain too, at under £20. With unisex sizes and a spectrum of colours, you and your significant other will both want to wear these round the pool. Back in the UK, these are great shoes for pottering about the house and garden, and wearing as an alternative to slippers.

7. Best Crocs for work: Crocs Unisex Adults' Specialist II Vent Clog

Crocs slingback

Price: £27 | Buy now from Amazon

"Crocs - they’re all I use in work" - tried and tested by Mumsnet user, AColdDuncanGoodhew

"Crocs, professional I think, the ones with vents in the sides but no holes in the top. So much more comfortable than any other shoes" - vetted by Mumsnet user, crocsonmyfeet

You may have noticed that doctors, nurses, and surgeons often wear Crocs to work. That’s because they're so easy to clean, and extremely comfortable to wear. Crocs now make shoes specifically designed for work, without the top holes to prevent any, er, spillages getting onto feet. The Specialist 11 Vent Clog is one model designed for a work setting, which is a favourite with people in the medical profession. If you’re keen to try some Crocs at work, be sure to check they're allowed in your department first.

8. Best Crocs wellies: Crocs Women's Jaunt Shorty Wellington Boots

Crocs wellies

Price: £25 | Buy now from M&M Direct

Yep, Crocs make rain boots now. This short wellie boot style is ideal if you like Crocs for gardening, with the enclosed design offering protection from the Great British weather! These wellies are made from the same light and comfortable material as other Crocs shoes, but with added rubber inserts on the outsole for improved traction. We especially like them in the Navy and White colourway. Some reviewers say these run small, so you might want to size up.

9. Best lined Crocs: Crocs Unisex Baya Lined Clog

Baya lined Crocs

Price: £17 | Buy now from Amazon

Crocs make great slippers, and this lined version of the Classic Clog is the cosy upgrade we didn’t know we needed. The fuzzy lining covers the sole, top, and ankle strap of the shoe which makes them an ideal indoor shoe, while the solid outer means these also work for emergency trips to take the bins out. Crocs advise sizing up in this style for a comfy fit.

Are Crocs good for your feet?

The opinion from podiatrists on whether Crocs are good for your feet is mixed. Some experts say they aren’t suitable for all-day wear, while others actually prescribe them for patients’ foot problems. Crocs provide good ventilation and decent arch support, and wearers say the textured sole is like getting a foot massage with every step. However, the open heel design means they don’t provide full support. Generally, the consensus is Crocs are better for shorter-term wear then a full day’s intensive walking.

Why do doctors and nurses wear Crocs?

The main reason Crocs are so popular with medical professionals is that they're easy to clean, and therefore suitable for roles where you might have to deal with bodily fluids and other spillages. Work-specific Crocs are also designed to be slip-resistant, and are comfortable to stand in for several hours.

What are the best Crocs to buy?

You know what they say: the original is usually the best. For general versatility, comfort, colour options, and price, we think the Crocs Unisex Classic Clog are the best Crocs to buy.

How we chose our recommendations

Because we know nothing beats a recommendation from other Crocs enthusiasts, we started by reading the Mumsnet forums for Mumsnetters’ favourite styles of Crocs. We then read best-buy lists and customer reviews from across the internet to decide which type of Crocs suited specific needs.
