The Salter Fuzion Dual Air Fryer is an ideal choice for both quick family meals and larger gatherings with friends. With its two 4L compartments that can function separately or as a combined 8L tray, it offers versatility to match different cooking needs. As a vegetarian, I found this setup perfect—I could prepare vegetarian or vegan meals on one side while cooking chicken or meat dishes for my husband and daughter on the other. The Sync & Match function is a particularly useful feature, it allowed us to have everything ready at the same time, so we could enjoy our meals together without the hassle of reheating or waiting—a real timesaver!

The 60-minute timer and eight pre-set buttons add further convenience, making it easy to whip up family favourites like fish and chips, seafood, chicken, roasted vegetables, and even some baked treats.

As someone new to air fryers (and admittedly sceptical about the hype), I was pleasantly surprised by how well the Salter Fuzion handled the basics. We loved the crispy roast potatoes, crumbed fish (which cooked best at 200°C), and skinny fries, which came out beautifully golden and crispy. Vegan and chicken nuggets were equally impressive, coming out perfectly crispy with a breadcrumb or tempura coating, and the roasted vegetables I cooked a few times were tender despite needing only a small amount of oil.

One minor drawback is that the Salter Fuzion maxes out at 200°C, whereas some of our other picks for the best dual air fryer, like the Ninja Foodi FlexDrawer, can reach 240°C. This means some dishes, like roast vegetables cooked alongside meat, may take a little longer. Additionally, I found the touchscreen could be a bit finicky—it sometimes requires multiple presses to display the desired setting, and you need to be quick, or it’ll revert to the original setting. However, despite these minor issues, the Salter Fuzion is intuitive and user-friendly, making it an excellent choice for first-time air fryer users like myself.

Cooking in the Salter EK5728 Fuzion Dual Air Fryer: how easy is it to use?

Salter Fuzion Dual Air Fryer sync function

The Salter Fuzion is pretty easy to use—I didn’t need the manual to set it up, and I loved that it didn't need any pre-heating. It did take me a few minutes to figure out the buttons, though. For example, the 'Match' button aligns the cooking times in both compartments, while the 'Sync' function ensures that everything finishes cooking at the same time. It holds one side until the cooking times match, then starts both sides together so your meal is ready all at once.

The touchscreen can be a bit finicky; sometimes you need to press it a few times to get the setting to stick. The display flips between time and temperature, so you have to be quick when adjusting it before it reverts. For manual adjustments, just press the manual button, then use the time controls to set the cooking time up to 60 minutes (or up to 24 hours for dehydration).

The cooking compartment opens, closes, and locks smoothly, and a gentle pull on the handles makes it easy to remove. If you open the compartment during cooking, the air fryer pauses automatically, then resumes as soon as it’s pushed back in—allowing you to check on your food without adjusting the control panel.

Salter Fuzion Dual Air Fryer 8L performance: how were the results?

Salter Fuzion Dual air fryer food

After testing the Salter Fuzion daily for three weeks, I was really impressed with the results it produced. Not only did it cook a variety of protein sources like chicken and meat to perfection (crumbed fish needed a higher temperature setting to cook evenly on both sides), but it also allowed me to experiment with interesting vegetarian side dishes for my family and vegan meals for myself – like crispy tofu and halloumi wedges. Sweet potato fries turned out just as well as traditional potato fries, and the skinny version was even crispier and more delicious.

A few other benefits of the Salter Fuzion Air Fryer are its impressive 8L capacity (or two separate 4L compartments), adjustable temperature controls for precise cooking, rapid air circulation technology for healthier meals with less oil, and a digital LED touchscreen for easy operation.

Salter Fuzion Dual Air Fryer: design and style

Salter Fuzion Dual air fryer compartments

The Salter Fuzion has a sleek, modern look with an easy-to-use LED touchscreen and a pull-out drawer that’s super smooth to open, thanks to the sturdy steel handles. I really liked the two separate cooking compartments with the divider—it’s a game-changer for cooking vegetarian and meat dishes at the same time, so everyone’s happy and meal prep is way easier. Plus, the eight pre-set functions are simple to understand without having to look for them in the instruction manual, which is a bonus.

One slight drawback is that due to it’s 8L capacity, it’s quite a large air fryer and takes up a fair amount of space on the kitchen counter compared to smaller air fryers for two people, like the lightweight, single-basket Salter EK4221AS Digital Air Fryer.

Is the Salter Fuzion Dual Air Fryer easy to clean?

Salter Dual Air Fryer trays

Definitely! In fact, one of the biggest benefits of the Salter Fuzion is just how easy it is to clean – and one of the main reasons why I prefer using it over the oven.

The non-stick coating on the baskets helps prevent food from sticking, so most messes can be wiped away quickly. Both cooking compartments and the crisper racks are also removable and dishwasher-safe, making clean-up even easier if you’d rather toss them in the dishwasher. Plus, the sleek, smooth exterior is easy to wipe down, so you can keep it looking spotless with minimal effort.

Overall, it’s pretty low-maintenance when it comes to cleaning.

Price: is the Salter EK5728 Fuzion Dual Air Fryer worth it?

Yes! As someone who didn’t initially see the need for an air fryer, and even questioned if it would be good value for money for a vegetarian like myself, I can confidently say that this air fryer is worth its weight in gold.

In the price range of £100 to £150, the Salter Fuzion holds its own against other budget air fryers, offering great value without the high price tag of premium models like Ninja air fryers. While Ninja models come highly recommended by Mumsnet users, the Salter Fuzion delivers excellent performance at a much friendlier price point. What's more, it's currently on sale for just £80!
