For a toy that hits all the right spots, Mumsnet users recommend Lovehoney’s very own Jessica rabbit - but is it as good as they all say? As Mumsnet’s leading sex editor, I task myself with finding out.

Our verdict

Rabbit vibrators have been a staple in the world of sex toys since the early 2000s, but are they still the be all and end all?

Lovehoney’s own Jessica rabbit vibrator comes with 10-functions that aim to provide its user with blended orgasms via dual stimulation, rotating beads, and customisable settings. But with advancements in materials and design, I’m not sure if this battery-powered classic still holds its own.

There’s no denying that Lovehoney’s Jessica Rabbit is a decent entry-level rabbit vibrator, especially if you’re searching for a budget-friendly option that offers dual stimulation. But the toy’s rotating beads are powered by a rather noisy motor and the fact it’s battery-powered somewhat limits how often and how long you can use it for before needing to swap the three AA batteries. It’s also made of lower-quality materials, meaning it doesn’t quite measure up to modern alternatives.

If you’re after something budget-friendly and don’t mind a bit of noise, it could work for you—but if you prefer a quieter, body-safe, rechargeable toy, there are better options out there IMO.

How I tested the Lovehoney Jessica rabbit

To ensure a thorough and fair review, I’ve tried my Jessica rabbit over multiple sessions for the last six months, making sure to evaluate different aspects of its design, performance and durability.

  • Used solo in both bed and the shower to assess comfort, ease of use and effectiveness (and whether it truly is waterproof)

  • With DH during foreplay and during PIV to see how well it integrates with different positions

  • Tracking the battery life, keeping note of how long the toy lasted per set of fresh batteries

  • Used in and out of the duvet to determine how noisy this toy actually is

  • Assessed how it holds up during long-term storage

Design and first impressions

My Lovehoney Jessica Rabbit arrived in the brand’s simple white and pink packaging. Inside, the toy itself is shrink-wrapped, which isn’t the most luxurious unboxing experience, but it does the job to protect it during transit.

The design is pretty standard for a rabbit vibrator: a straight, semi-transparent shaft with free-moving beads, topped with flexible bunny ears for clitoral stimulation. The controls, however, are a bit of an eyesore. Positioned on the handle, they resemble an old-school TV remote rather than a sleek, modern interface IMO.

At first glance, the material feels soft and pliable, but as it’s made from TPE and ABS plastic rather than medical-grade silicone, it doesn’t have that premium, velvety finish that other toys in the same price range offer, like the LELO Soraya 2

This might not be an issue for some, but if you’re used to high-end vibrators, you might find the texture slightly lacking.

Performance and ease of use

With a total of 10 vibration functions in the ears, three rotation speeds in the shaft, and a reversible rotation option, I found that there’s a good level of customisation available. A nice surprise given its more budget-friendly price tag.

  • Clitoral stimulation: The rabbit ears have three speed settings and seven different patterns, which is great if you enjoy variety. However, I found that the ears stretched slightly too far over my clitoris, meaning the stimulation wasn’t as pinpointed as I’d like, and there’s no way to adjust this. That said, with some careful positioning, the vibrations were strong enough to deliver stimulation around the area - which, when combined with the internal stimulation, did the job.

  • Shaft and G-spot stimulation: The rotating beads provide an internal massage, creating a fuller feeling than static vibrators. However, the completely straight design doesn’t naturally hit the G-spot. A workaround? I found that if you carefully bend the metal rod inside the shaft ever so slightly, you can improve the angle—but be cautious not to overdo it, or you might damage the toy.

The reverse rotation setting is an interesting touch, in my opinion, and can add some variation to your experience. This is the first toy I’ve tried that has this sort of feature, but it doesn’t necessarily make up for the lack of natural curvature in the design.

How noisy is Lovehoney’s Jessica rabbit vibrator?

Full transparency: if you need discretion, this isn’t the toy for you.

The Jessica Rabbit is very noisy, with the motorised beads making a distinct whirring sound that’s difficult to mask, even under the duvet. If you live with others, you’ll want to bury yourself under the covers to dull the sound. Using it with my DH was a bit of a buzzkill because the noise was just a little too distracting.

For context, this is significantly louder than a standard bullet vibrator or even a rechargeable rabbit made from silicone. If noise level is an important factor for you, consider a quieter alternative like the Smile Makers The Artist Dual Vibrator or LELO Soraya 2.

Battery life and power of Lovehoney’s Jessica rabbit

One of the biggest drawbacks of this vibrator is that it’s battery-powered, requiring three AA batteries.

During testing, they lasted around three sessions (approximately 30 minutes each time) before losing power, which is far from ideal. So, if you’re used to rechargeable toys, this will feel like a major step backward.

That said, when fully powered (with fresh batteries), the Jessica Rabbit does deliver strong vibrations and rotation. But as the batteries drain, so does the intensity, meaning you don’t get a consistently strong experience over time.

This makes the toy feel unreliable compared to rechargeable alternatives that maintain their power levels until they run out.

Waterproofing and cleaning

One redeeming feature is that it’s fully waterproof, making it a good option for bath or shower play. This also makes it easier to clean—simply rinse under warm water and use a mild toy cleaner.

However, because it’s made of TPE, it’s more porous than silicone, meaning you should use a condom over the shaft if you plan on sharing it.

In terms of maintenance, you’ll also need to store it carefully. Unlike silicone toys that can be stored without much concern, TPE toys can degrade faster over time, especially if they come into contact with other materials. So make sure you keep it in a separate storage bag when not using it, which will help extend its lifespan.

Who is the Lovehoney Jessica rabbit most suited for?

  • Beginners: The Jessica Rabbit is a good introduction to rabbit vibrators thanks to its manageable size and simple controls.

  • Budget-conscious buyers: If you’re looking for a dual-stimulation toy without spending too much, this is a solid, affordable option.

  • Fans of rotating beads: The free-moving pearl beads provide a unique sensation that many users enjoy.

And who might want to look elsewhere?

  • Those who need quiet toys: This is too loud for discreet use.

  • People who prefer body-safe silicone: A medical-grade silicone alternative would be a better investment in terms of hygiene and durability.

  • Rechargeable toy lovers: If you hate dealing with batteries, opt for a rechargeable alternative.

Final verdict

The Lovehoney Jessica Rabbit is a solid choice for beginners or those looking for an affordable rabbit vibrator with dual stimulation. It offers plenty of customisation with its vibration and rotation settings, and its waterproof design makes it easy to clean and versatile to use in different settings.

However, it does come with drawbacks. The battery-powered design means you’ll need to replace batteries frequently, and the noise level can be a dealbreaker if discretion is a priority. The TPE material, while soft, isn’t as high-quality or body-safe as medical-grade silicone, making it less durable over time.

If you’re new to rabbit vibrators and want an inexpensive option to explore, the Jessica Rabbit is a reasonable entry-level choice. But if you value quieter operation, stronger vibrations, or a rechargeable design, there are better alternatives on the market IMO.
