Our verdict

In true iCandy fashion, the iCandy Orange 4 combines stylish design with impressive functionality, making it a practical travel system for growing families. One of its key advantages is that the travel system bundle includes everything needed to adapt as your family expands. It can be used as a single pushchair with either the carrycot or seat and easily converts into a double pushchair with the included car seat adapters and accessories. This makes it particularly appealing for parents with twins or children of different ages, especially as it also comes with an integrated ride-on board for an older sibling.

After testing the Orange 4 for a few weeks, mum of two, Laura appreciated its versatility and how seamlessly it transitions between configurations. Switching between the carrycot and seat, as well as choosing parent-facing and world-facing modes was straightforward and the spacious seat with a soft fleece liner ensured her nine-month-old son was comfortable both while out and during naps.

The generous storage options, including a large under-seat basket and an additional seat pocket add to this pushchair’s practicality. Aesthetically, the sleek black chassis and interchangeable canopy colours give it a premium feel, allowing parents to customise the look to suit their style.

However, there are a few downsides. In most configurations, the Orange 4 feels quite heavy to carry (it weighs around 12.1kg), and while the large, puncture-proof wheels offer excellent all-terrain performance, they can make manoeuvring in tighter spaces—such as public transport—more challenging.

The folded size is a bit bulky, which might be tricky for smaller car boots. That said, the Orange 4 is still a great choice if you're planning on growing your family—it’s comfy, adaptable, and built to last.

How we tested the iCandy Orange 4 pushchair

  • Used the Orange 4 for three weeks every day and during a long weekend away

  • Tested with a nine month old and three year old

  • Used for school runs, trips to shops, dog walks and on public transport

With two young children, our tester Laura had plenty of opportunity to put the Orange 4 to the test, taking it out on busy school mornings, whizzing around the shops and for muddy walks with the dog. This meant it was used on a variety of terrains, including grass and uneven ground and she was impressed with how the pushchair tackled them all very efficiently, providing a smooth ride for her younger son.

With so much to carry when leaving the house with two young children, Laura was also impressed with the pram’s storage options, including a spacious basket, a handy seat pocket for smaller items and a baby change bag, which matches the pram perfectly and hangs off the handlebar to free up space in the basket.

iCandy Orange 4 pushchair: what’s in the box?

  • Chassis

  • Seat frame and fabric

  • UPF50 and water repellent canopy

  • Carrycot fabric, mattress and apron

  • Footmuff

  • Bumper bar

  • Baseboard

  • Convertor adapters

  • Rear wheels

  • Seat risers and elevators

  • 2 x rain covers

  • Changing bag

  • Lower and upper car seat adapters

The Orange 4 travel system bundle comes equipped with everything you need to convert from a single to double pram, with plenty of different configurations, and includes a roomy carrycot that provided a safe and comfortable space for Laura's son to sleep in. She also liked the integrated ride-on buggy board for days when her older child didn't want to walk.

How easy is the iCandy Orange 4 pushchair to assemble?

While the Orange 4 comes with everything you need for getting out with two children, assembly is quite time consuming. It takes two people to put together and around 30 minutes to complete.

Firstly, you need to attach the wheels to the chassis, then open out the chassis by pulling up the handlebar. The next step is to assemble the carrycot by attaching the fabric, liner and mattress to the frame. Finally, you connect the canopy, apron and bumper bar. The seat or carrycot then connects to the frame by sliding into the connectors on either side of the frame until they click into place.

Laura noted that assembling the Orange 4 took some effort, as each individual item was packaged separately and required unpacking and putting together using image-based instructions without any written guidance. She received two heavy boxes containing different parts of the pushchair, which, while ensuring everything was well-protected, made the process more time-consuming. She pointed out that for a pregnant parent, lifting and assembling the pushchair alone could be particularly challenging.

On a positive note, the included elevators allow the carrycot to be positioned higher by clicking into the seat connectors. This feature is especially useful when using the ride-on buggy board, as it creates more space for older children to stand comfortably.

iCandy Orange 4 pushchair: how does it look?

What’s not to love about the classic, stylish design of the iCandy Orange 4? The chassis, handlebar, and seat come in sleek black, with a pop of colour on the UPF50 canopy. There are six colours to choose from, including Black, Fossil, Glacier, Latte, Pistachio and Rose, so you’re sure to find one to suit your style and baby. The new soft-touch leatherette handle adds a premium feel, while the fabric is a game-changer, being water-repellent and easy to wipe clean.

Measuring 62cm in width and weighing 12.1kg, the pushchair is fairly narrow when manoeuvring through most spaces, though it is on the heavier side. It boasts a compact, yet spacious seat with soft padding, while the carrycot features a foam mattress and cotton cover, making it a cosy and comfortable option for newborns.

Laura says: “I tested the Fossil grey and love it. The travel system looks sophisticated while being chunky with a large four-wheeled suspension. The seat is a good quality, breathable material, and the liner has a black soft fur finish.”

What’s the difference between the iCandy Orange 4 pushchair and the iCandy Peach 7?

The iCandy Peach 7 and iCandy Orange 4 are both high-quality strollers, but they differ in key areas such as weight, storage capacity, and overall dimensions.

  • Weight: The Peach 7 weighs 12.9kg, making it slightly heavier than the Orange 4, which comes in at 12.1kg. This makes the Orange 4 a marginally lighter option for parents who prioritise portability.

  • Basket capacity: The Orange 4 offers a larger storage basket with a 64 litre (and 10kg) capacity, compared to the Peach 7's 44 litre capacity. This makes the Orange 4 a better choice for parents who need extra room for shopping, baby essentials, or day-out necessities.

  • Folded dimensions: When folded, the Peach 7 measures L:70 x W:61 x D:29cm, while the Orange 4 folds slightly longer but narrower at L:81.5 x W:51.5 x D:28cm. This means the Peach 7 is more compact in length, but the Orange 4 is slimmer, which may be beneficial for tighter storage spaces.

  • Handlebar height: The Peach 7’s handlebar adjusts between 95-105cm, whereas the Orange 4’s handle extends further, from 98-110cm, making it a better option for taller parents who need a higher handle setting for comfort.

Overall, if you need a sleeker, more compact stroller, the Peach 7 is a great choice. However, if storage, a lighter frame, and an adjustable handle height are top priorities, the Orange 4 offers more flexibility.

iCandy Orange 4 pushchair: is it safe and sturdy?

The Orange 4 isn’t just stylish—it’s packed with safety features to keep children secure. Both the seat and carrycot are suitable from birth, supporting up to 25kg (around four years old).

The seat includes a five-point harness and a removable bumper bar, which can be used with both the seat and carrycot to help prevent wriggly babies and toddlers from slipping their arms out. While the harness provides a snug and secure fit, Laura found it a little tricky to fasten in a hurry. She explains, “The over-shoulder and round-the-waist pieces must be connected before inserting into the base holder. This was a little time-consuming when in a rush or in the rain, especially over a snowsuit, if I hadn’t opened it in advance.”

Despite this minor drawback, the Orange 4 excels in safety, with no small gaps for little fingers to get caught. Laura also felt confident that both her nine-month-old and older daughter were secure and comfortable in the pushchair.

Additional practical features include a height-adjustable handlebar, extending to nearly 1m, and a reliable brake that holds the pushchair steady on both flat surfaces and hills, with the pedal conveniently positioned on the right-hand side.

How comfortable is the iCandy Orange 4 pushchair?

The iCandy Orange 4 is designed with comfort in mind, making it a great choice for daily use, whether it's for shopping trips, school runs, or park visits.

For newborns, the pushchair comes with a fleece-lined carrycot that offers a cosy, breathable environment, perfect for naps both on the go and at home. It’s even approved for overnight sleeping, making it ideal for travel. Laura says, “The carrycot is spacious and comfortably accommodates my son, even at nine months, for sleeping. Although I didn’t use it on the pushchair, it worked perfectly for him to nap in, when placed on the floor.”

As your child grows, the large, comfy seat provides three adjustable inclines, including a flat position for sleeping, which can be easily adjusted without disturbing your little one. The fur-lined seat ensures comfort during naps, while the water-repellent UPF50 canopy offers plenty of sun protection - thanks to its extendable zip cover.

Additionally, the updated wheels and improved suspension make the pushchair smoother and easier to manoeuvre, especially when in double mode.

What is the iCandy Orange 4 pushchair like to use day-to-day?

The Orange 4 offers 11 configurations in single mode and more than 30 in double mode, especially if used with a car seat, carrycot, or seat. Both the carrycot and seat are suitable from birth, with the seat offering both parent- and world-facing options. The included seat elevators help to raise the seat for better visibility or let you use the pushchair as a highchair when eating out.

As mentioned, the Orange 4 has improved suspension and manoeuvrability compared to its predecessor, making it easier to handle tight corners and various terrains. With two large back wheels and front wheels that swivel or lock, Laura found it easy to push over grass, mud, bumpy pavements and even snow. She says, "It glides smoothly in both carrycot and seat modes, and the front wheels are either locked for stability or move freely for ease."

The adjustable handlebar (up to 1m) is comfortable to push, with a smooth leatherette finish. The integrated ride-on buggy board can hold older siblings up to 20kg, but Laura points out that the brake pedal is tricky to operate with one foot: "It’s comfortably operable only with the right foot."

A key feature of the Orange 4 is its generous 64-litre storage basket that holds up to 10kg, plus it has a large rear pocket on the seat for essentials like purses and phones. Laura notes, "The basket underneath is larger than average, fitting a changing bag, shopping, and coats easily. It’s accessible from both the front and back, though there's no internal storage."

The Orange 4 also comes with two rain covers—one for the carrycot and one for the seat. Laura appreciates the design: "The rain covers have a sleek black surround with a plastic front, looking much nicer than typical plastic covers. The pushchair’s rear seat pocket is spacious enough to store them, making it easy to stash when caught in a downpour."

Is the iCandy Orange 4 pushchair easy to use on public transport?

If you’re planning to jump on and off public transport with this pushchair, the Orange 4 should be able to manage most needs. However, while it’s not the widest tandem pushchair on the market, the large wheels do make it a bulkier push than the likes of Phil and Ted’s Sport Tandem Pushchair and iCandy Peach 7 (although only by 1cm) so it may struggle more in smaller spaces, such as a busy bus aisle.

Laura says: “Because the base/wheels are quite wide, it’s harder than a typical pushchair to navigate public transport, but I did use it on a train. We boarded and stayed in the entrance way though as I wasn’t confident to attempt to push it down the central aisle when the train was busy.”

Does the iCandy Orange 4 pushchair fit in the boot of a car?

While the pushchair is on the heavier side, we didn’t have any issues fitting it in either a medium or large sized boot during testing. It does take up a lot of room though so may struggle in smaller cars.

Laura says: “The stroller fit into both of my car boots, but because it needs to be taken apart to fold down, I had to stack the wheels, chassis, and carrycot on top of each other. In my smaller car with a medium-sized boot, I had to place the chassis on the ground first before lifting the base into the boot, something I haven’t had to do with other pushchairs.”

iCandy Orange 4 pushchair: how easy is it to fold?

The folding mechanism is fairly quick and simple. The pushchair can be folded down altogether, but only if you are using the pushchair with the seat in world-facing mode. If not, you need to remove the carrycot and seat first and fold it down separately.

Laura explains: “Folding the unit is simple, you unclick the carry cot/seat and lift with the bumper bar. You then need to fold the frame into the lock position, which is done by pushing down and lifting simultaneously on the handle to activate the movement. The base has a locking system so when you come to unfold you need to unlock it, but this is very helpful and space saving as it holds the wheels in the smallest position for placing in the boot. The base is heavy to move though.”

There’s no carry strap either, which would make moving the heavy chassis easier. To unfold, simply unlock the chassis and open it out using the handlebar, and then attach the seat or carrycot to the connectors on the chassis. Laura says: “It’s fast to put up as a two piece, as it’s not complicated, whichever unit you choose, it slots in quickly. You can lift both the carrycot or seat using the bumper bar, and it clicks easily onto the adapters.”

iCandy Orange 4 pushchair: does it come with accessories?

While the iCandy Orange 4 comes with plenty of accessories as part of the single to double bundle, including a footmuff, changing bag, two rain covers and car seat adapters, you can also purchase a parasol, a screen for protecting your child against the sun and insects, and extra parts and seat units for adding to your pushchair.

Is the iCandy Orange 4 pushchair easy to clean?

If you experience any spillages or accidents, the Orange 4 is super easy to clean thanks to the newer water-repellant fabrics. The material of the seat is a padded fabric which is wipeable with a cloth and the fur liner and apron can be machine washed for any stubborn marks. “The seat is fixed so there are no gaps for crumbs to sneak into,” Laura says.

Is the iCandy Orange 4 pushchair good value for money?

Retailing at around £1,099, the iCandy Orange 4 sits at the higher end of the market, alongside the iCandy Peach 7 and Bugaboo Donkey 5 Duo. While it’s certainly an investment, it offers excellent versatility, easily converting from a single to a double pushchair with over 30 configurations—making it ideal for growing families, twins, or those with an older sibling who can use the integrated ride-on board.

The package includes thoughtful extras like a changing bag, footmuff, two rain covers, and a spacious 64-litre basket with an additional seat pocket for extra storage. With four-wheel suspension, it glides smoothly over various terrains, though its larger wheels may not be as convenient for tight spaces like public transport.

Laura was impressed by the pram’s stylish design and functionality but felt the price might be steep for second-time parents who may not need as much long-term use.
