iCandy Orange 4 pushchair: is it safe and sturdy?
The Orange 4 isn’t just stylish—it’s packed with safety features to keep children secure. Both the seat and carrycot are suitable from birth, supporting up to 25kg (around four years old).
The seat includes a five-point harness and a removable bumper bar, which can be used with both the seat and carrycot to help prevent wriggly babies and toddlers from slipping their arms out. While the harness provides a snug and secure fit, Laura found it a little tricky to fasten in a hurry. She explains, “The over-shoulder and round-the-waist pieces must be connected before inserting into the base holder. This was a little time-consuming when in a rush or in the rain, especially over a snowsuit, if I hadn’t opened it in advance.”
Despite this minor drawback, the Orange 4 excels in safety, with no small gaps for little fingers to get caught. Laura also felt confident that both her nine-month-old and older daughter were secure and comfortable in the pushchair.
Additional practical features include a height-adjustable handlebar, extending to nearly 1m, and a reliable brake that holds the pushchair steady on both flat surfaces and hills, with the pedal conveniently positioned on the right-hand side.
How comfortable is the iCandy Orange 4 pushchair?
The iCandy Orange 4 is designed with comfort in mind, making it a great choice for daily use, whether it's for shopping trips, school runs, or park visits.
For newborns, the pushchair comes with a fleece-lined carrycot that offers a cosy, breathable environment, perfect for naps both on the go and at home. It’s even approved for overnight sleeping, making it ideal for travel. Laura says, “The carrycot is spacious and comfortably accommodates my son, even at nine months, for sleeping. Although I didn’t use it on the pushchair, it worked perfectly for him to nap in, when placed on the floor.”
As your child grows, the large, comfy seat provides three adjustable inclines, including a flat position for sleeping, which can be easily adjusted without disturbing your little one. The fur-lined seat ensures comfort during naps, while the water-repellent UPF50 canopy offers plenty of sun protection - thanks to its extendable zip cover.
Additionally, the updated wheels and improved suspension make the pushchair smoother and easier to manoeuvre, especially when in double mode.
What is the iCandy Orange 4 pushchair like to use day-to-day?
The Orange 4 offers 11 configurations in single mode and more than 30 in double mode, especially if used with a car seat, carrycot, or seat. Both the carrycot and seat are suitable from birth, with the seat offering both parent- and world-facing options. The included seat elevators help to raise the seat for better visibility or let you use the pushchair as a highchair when eating out.
As mentioned, the Orange 4 has improved suspension and manoeuvrability compared to its predecessor, making it easier to handle tight corners and various terrains. With two large back wheels and front wheels that swivel or lock, Laura found it easy to push over grass, mud, bumpy pavements and even snow. She says, "It glides smoothly in both carrycot and seat modes, and the front wheels are either locked for stability or move freely for ease."
The adjustable handlebar (up to 1m) is comfortable to push, with a smooth leatherette finish. The integrated ride-on buggy board can hold older siblings up to 20kg, but Laura points out that the brake pedal is tricky to operate with one foot: "It’s comfortably operable only with the right foot."
A key feature of the Orange 4 is its generous 64-litre storage basket that holds up to 10kg, plus it has a large rear pocket on the seat for essentials like purses and phones. Laura notes, "The basket underneath is larger than average, fitting a changing bag, shopping, and coats easily. It’s accessible from both the front and back, though there's no internal storage."
The Orange 4 also comes with two rain covers—one for the carrycot and one for the seat. Laura appreciates the design: "The rain covers have a sleek black surround with a plastic front, looking much nicer than typical plastic covers. The pushchair’s rear seat pocket is spacious enough to store them, making it easy to stash when caught in a downpour."
