The first thing that struck me about this washing machine was its sleek and modern design. It blends seamlessly with our kitchen decor and has a sturdy build that feels like it will last for years.

While only available in white, this machine has a large display screen with an easy-to-use programme dial and clearly marked cycle options.   

How well does the Bosch Series 4 WAN28201GB Freestanding Washing Machine clean, rinse and spin?

The performance of the Bosch Series 4 WAN28201GB is exceptional. It boasts 14 wash programmes to suit different laundry needs. We love the Quick Wash option for when we are in a hurry, and the EcoPerfect feature helps us save energy without compromising on cleanliness. 

While this machine isn’t a washer dryer, its 1,400rpm spin speed means our clothes come out almost dry, reducing drying time significantly. The VarioDrum technology ensures gentle yet thorough cleaning, preventing wear and tear on our clothes.

Is it energy-efficient?

Overall, this washing machine is highly energy-efficient, and I've noticed a reduction in my utility bills since switching to this appliance, which is an added bonus in these current times.

It has an ‘A’ rating for energy efficiency, with an average energy consumption of 0.56 kWh per cycle for a partial load using the 40°C cotton programme. 

The VarioPerfect feature has two functions: SpeedPerfect and EcoPerfect. If you select EcoPerfect for your wash, it cuts the energy use in half. SpeedPerfect shortens the wash time.

Based on 220 standard washing cycles, this machine uses around 9,900 litres of water per year of water, which is around 45 litres per cycle.  

What's the Bosch Series 4 WAN28201GB Freestanding Washing Machine like to use day-to-day?

This washing machine has a generous 8kg drum capacity, which is perfect for my family's needs. It easily accommodates larger loads, like bedding and towels, which is a real time-saver.

The intuitive control panel and clear display make operating this machine a breeze. I appreciate the time remaining display, which keeps me informed about each cycle's progress.

I like that the Bosch Series 4 offers a range of extra features, such as the handy Reload function, that allows me to add forgotten items mid-cycle. It also has a Allergy+ programme for killing germs and dust mites, which is very useful if you have allergy sufferers and young children in your family.

Some of the washing cycles, especially when using the EcoPerfect mode, can be a bit longer compared to older washing machines I've used. While this is due to its energy-efficient nature, it might not be ideal for people who need their laundry done quickly.

Is it noisy? 

One of the standout features of the Bosch Series 4 WAN28201GB is its remarkably quiet operation. Even during high-speed spins, it doesn't disrupt my household, especially as we now work from home more frequently.

Quiet Mark certified, this machine has an ‘A’ class rating for noise emissions thanks to Bosch’s EcoSilence Drive™. It has a noise reading of 55dB for a wash cycle and 76dB for a spin, which is quieter than most washing machines on the market. 

But while this machine is impressively quiet during most of the cycle, the pump can be noisy at times. It's not a significant issue, but it is noticeable, especially if you have the machine in a quiet area and work from home like I do.

Is the Bosch Series 4 WAN28201GB Freestanding Washing Machine easy to clean?

Yes! The Bosch Series 4 WWAN28201GB has an efficient drum clean programme for keeping the inside of your washing machine clean, although you won’t find extra features seen on more premium models like an auto-rinsing drawer.

Is the Bosch Series 4 WAN28201GB Freestanding Washing Machine good value for money? 

On the negative side, this machine falls into the mid-end price range, which might not be suitable for those on a tight budget. However, considering its features and performance, I believe it's a worthwhile investment in the long run.
