Why does no one let the fathers off who kill their families but the mothers are always excused for being "mentally ill"? She killed three little kids. She's fucking evil.

TheSunIsAlwaysThere · 04/09/2026 20:23

Yes it is tragic. Its equally tragic that a woman who feared she would be a danger to her children was ignored when she asked for help.

I would rather see someone like this in a hospital than a prison.

It’s equally tragic as 3 children being strangled? No.

KellyK2026 · 04/09/2026 20:25

Getalittle · 04/09/2026 20:17

I meant found guilty and imprisoned.

Those poor children. Fucking hell.

To me, to find her guilty of murder would be to put her in the same category as Chris Watts, who intentionally killed his kids, his wife and unborn child to start a new life with his mistress. He then lied about it and tried to cover it up.

Lindsay is not that. She is someone who repeatedly asked and begged for help. She asked to be hospitalised. She tried every medication professionals gave her. She told them she had thoughts of harming herself and had intrusive thoughts about her children. She had no motive. She tried to kill herself. When she didn’t die she wanted the doctor to agree to a DNR so that she would not be resuscitated (they refused to do that).

To me, they are not the same. One is a cold hearted killer. The other is mentally ill.

Is anybody watching the press conference on sky? That bloody lawyer is acting like he’s been given an Oscar, he praising all his colleagues blah blah.:: some guy is actually wearing at shirt saying “court dawg” and they’re all hugging him at the microphone, absolutely no sense of dignity at all. It’s just so crass.

Where are the families?

Aluna · 04/09/2026 20:26

Quite, you were taking about them in the same sentence regarding the emotive topics and the limitations that the public has to understand more complex medical issues. I was pointing out that I think one is innocent because there was no actual evidence. Everyone wanted her hung drawn and quartered due to the emotive nature,

As I said very few people thought LL was innocent at the time, so that’s only with hindsight.

Many want LC hung drawn and quartered due to the emotive evidence. When children are murdered is someone needs to pay. And that’s the problem with hearing such cases in a court with full media coverage.

If LC was psychotic she is innocent of murder in the first degree. despite having killed her children. In this country it would be on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

SulkingInTheCatio · 04/09/2026 20:28

Well she’ll pay for her “crime” regardless of the verdict. Her children are dead and she states (and I see no reason to disbelieve her) that she’s traumatised by that and wishes she hadn’t done what she did.

She will grieve those children for ever. She’s paralysed, permanently. Even if found not guilty she’s likely to spend quite some time in a psychiatric unit where she’s currently an inpatient. She has no choice in this, she’s lost her liberty.

I expect we'll see some men using paternal postpartum as a defense.

Men don’t suffer from postpartum psychosis nor postpartum depression, the clue is in the word “postpartum”.

He started dating her 4 months after his wife allegedly murdered his children. That's pretty quick

It is. We don’t know that they didn’t just start as friends. But he gets so much hate for getting re married 3 years later. I don’t think that’s fair. He is probably broken in ways most of us will never experience. I don’t know. I just think he’s suffered enough.

It's short-hand for "A woman kills her children. Let's find a man to blame."

Hmmm but she is putting up a defence now though? She brought this to a lengthy awful very public trial, her choice even though she knows she is responsible for killing her children - so she isn't this defenceless unsupported victim, in my opinion I think its quite a audacious move after strangling your three children to death.

Sugargliderwombat · 04/09/2026 20:32

Littlebitpsycho · 04/09/2026 17:39

I don't think being mentally ill excuses her to be honest. Many women suffer post partum depression. Some women suffer post partum psychosis. Very very few of them MURDER their children.

She knew she was unwell. She had thought previously that she was capable of hurting them. She could have walked away and didn't

She did literally tell a Dr who sent her away?

I'm not sure you understand the gravity of 'psychosis'. It's a complete loss of touch with reality. She didn't want always because she was ....in psychosis.

That’s what I was getting at before though, despite most people thinking LL was guilty I wasn’t convinced. When it was brought up on here, the emotive nature of it caused arguments etc…and it felt like people wanted someone to blame and she was it. I do think public opinion has shifted now though.

This time however, I’m not convinced she’s as innocent as some people believe her to be. From what I’ve seen so far, I see a very unhappy lady who wanted to take her own life and she was let down but I’m not convinced she didn’t have a clue what she was doing.

I actually agree with you on all of those points. There is a distinction between them.m and Im not saying LC wasn’t very unwell.

But, in this situation I think the victims should be prioritised. I think even with the mitigating circumstances of mental health, the law should protect and be punitive when it comes to murder and taking the lives of 3 children who won’t get to exist. And it was horrifying. She could have done it in their sleep or kept them together but she wasn’t thinking of them at all and the suffering and fear she caused them. It was definitely madness but it was extremely cruel.

I actually question why she would want to be absolved of this crime to be honest.

There is no absolution in a case like this, it’s a court not a church.

The question is simply whether she goes to a psychiatric hospital or prison.

What?!

You haven't seen the endless youtube videos, tiktoks etc from (mostly) women who are obsessively trying to twist any and every fact of the case, and/or outright fabricate stuff, into an indication that it was the husband who either killed the children himself, got someone else to kill them, or somehow influenced Lindsay to kill them?

But I think that is what people aren’t understanding. She has already been found guilty of killing her children, that’s not up for debate. The question is whether she is guilty of murder, in which case she will spend her life in prison, OR will she be found guilty of killing but not murder due to mental health, in which case she will spend her life in a mental institute. No way is she wanting to or can get out of it. The question is where she will be spending her time. In a place with people like Watts or in a place where she can receive help.

I don’t think she did it at all. I think he did it. He never expected her to survive.

MissMappsGardenProduce · 04/09/2026 20:46

She sent her husband out on a fool's errand-an errand that she had earlier timed by looking it up on her phone.

She then led her her three children down into the basement.

Were they frightened at this stage or had she told them they were going to play a game or look for something?

She took the first child, while the other two looked on and strangled the child with an exercise band.

The child must have been terrified, begging and she carried on while the cries of the two children who were waiting their turn to be murdered, cried and screamed .

When she had finished and knew the child was dead, she moved on to the second child and, with an exercise band, strangled the child.

She then took the terrified third child and strangled them with an exercise band.

All this shit about about whether she was evil or mad. She may have been both.

It doesn't matter a shit and, if it is found to matter a shit, then a lot more women and children will die at the hands of men who offer up the same defence.

I find it interesting that she is in court trying to defend herself.

I, and I imagine many many mothers who, if they had done this evil act, would have no interest in defending themselves; would just want to either die or wouldn't care about the rest of their life.

She does.

She is a cunt. An evil cunt. She may be a mad, evil cunt but cunt is what she is and I wouldn't give a toss if her arse was introduced to the electric chair and, if she is repentant, nor should she!

If it was mental illness, it was a strangely carefully planned case of loss of control, with the unusual ability to talk calmly to her husband in the middle of the murders and know she shouldn’t tell him what she was doing. I find it very hard to understand how people can read the details and still believe she didn’t chose to murder her poor children.

You clearly don’t understand mental illness then.

many people who commit suicide are outwardly happy the days before because they know their anguish will soon end. Lots of suicides take a lot of planning but it doesn’t mean the person was of sound mind.

Planning and “acting normal” are not signs that the person was ok - quite the opposite.

MissMappsGardenProduce · 04/09/2026 20:50

This woman did not commit suicide. And, so far is she now from not caring about her life, that she sits offering up a defence that she knows soft headed slope heads will swallow.

I'm sure she has had plenty of opportunity to finish the job on herself and yet...lo, she is still here. Must have changed her mind then and can live with what she has done.

Why though?
Wasn’t he out the house when it happened?
How would she not know he had done it?

Ive worked on a psych ward. People experiencing active psychosis dont run around foaming at the mouth, arms flailing and screaming gibberish.

Ive known many a psychotic patient who managed to hold it together for a ward round and flatly deny they were hearing voices and managed to be very calm and rational but challenge them in any way and it would be obvious they were responding to hallucinations etc

Many people experiencing psychosis are able to hide it for short periods of time out of fear

people with post partum psychosis often are very articulate and seem eerily normal, in fact that’s how most mental illness and even severe sleep deprivation presents

even if she did ‘choose to’ the full consciousness of her ‘choice’ is brought into question by the fact it is well documented that she was begging for mental health support and told her husband and mother she was having thoughts of harming them and herself compounded by witness and character testimony that she was a loving mother who was deeply struggling.
