I feel my biological clock ticking but DP isn't yet ready for a baby and wants one more year. How long did it take you to get pregnant with your first?

About 20 mins. DH's comment... 'I thought we'd have to do a lot more practicing than that' Sad

CowCat · 25/07/2026 16:13

About a year. I was 34.

haymackes · 25/07/2026 16:13

Unplanned when I was 37 and my partner was 40 - our second however took nearly 2 years to conceive. It just goes to show you can never tell how long they’ll take to arrive

onyourway · 25/07/2026 16:13

Two months, was 31

CowCat · 25/07/2026 16:13

5 mins for the second.

2.5 years, two miscarriages and clomid. I was 28 when she was born. 34 now and various gynae issues and many more miscarriages alter I still just have the one. I didn’t win the gynae lottery, it seems…but most people have better luck than I on this front!

WorkCleanRepeat · 25/07/2026 16:15

12 years. Sorry!

PangolinPan · 25/07/2026 16:15

3 years, one molar pregnancy then a year of trying after the all clear. Was 30 when I started, 33 when DC born.

Four long years. Fit and healthy but just one of those things. Someone gets pregnant quickly and conversely someone (me) takes forever. Luck of the draw.

haymackes · 25/07/2026 16:18

gosh this does seem like much longer than I thought

CleanSkin · 25/07/2026 16:26

post-pill hyper fertility, apparently.

BreezyAquaCrow · 25/07/2026 16:26

3 months aged 29.

Coconutter24 · 25/07/2026 16:28

Everyone is clearly different and timings are all different so regardless of if everyone here says 2 months or 2 years that isn’t any help to you because it won’t give you an idea of how long it will take. Your DH isn’t ready yet and wants to wait a year so you need to wait a year

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 25/07/2026 16:29

First - 2 months

Started trying for second, got pregnant month 2 but had a chemical pregnancy and hoping to conceive again.

Thisisnobridgetjones · 25/07/2026 16:31

Unplanned at 25, resulted in miscarriage
Planned, first time age 26

My husband proposed to me on my 35th birthday (early Nov). We decided to get married in May. Also decided to start trying for a baby straight away as we both thought it might take time for us to conceive. By December I was pregnant, so it took no time at all! When people asked if we were getting married because I was pregnant, I would say no, we got pregnant because we were getting married! 😜 We have four kids. Every time I stopped breast feeding, I got pregnant. There is just over six years between the oldest and the youngest! No trouble conceiving at all!

ChaosDreamV2 · 25/07/2026 16:38

This ⬆️.
None of these women's experiences will have any bearing on your experience at all. You could conceive in the first cycle, it could take months, it could take years. You have no idea.
Your partner isn't ready, it would seem.
