how long did it take you to get pregnant with your first?

I feel my biological clock ticking but DP isn't yet ready for a baby and wants one more year. How long did it take you to get pregnant with your first?

Aged 32 at the time. First cycle. Had sex twice.

DH was surprised as he and previous partner (who was 39) had struggled to conceive and so he got tested and it said his sperm count was a bit low but would be OK for normal conception. He thought it would work but would take a bit longer.

Age 36 0 months (but early miscarriage at 6weeks)

Age 42 0 months.(accidental)

Tried for 10 years .....2 rounds of ivf....no reason of infertility.

18 months but with a lot of intervention. first 6 months was testing in the background of TTC because I felt like something wasn’t right with pain and pressure sensations. Got the all clear. Symptoms got worse again and got diagnosed with endometriosis 9 months in. had surgery 10 months in. Egg retrieval and embryo freezing for IVF 12 months in. Waited 4 months post surgery for healing to do a transfer. Accidentally conceived during that time and had a miscarriage. Then finally did my embryo transfer just over 18 months later and I’m now nearly 11 weeks 😅🤞✨

It is so unpredictable.
My OH and his late wife conceived on their honeymoon when she was 25. No complications /easy pregnancy and straightforward birth. Came from large Catholic family so they assumed they’d have lots , but never conceived again even with IVF. (I do secretly wonder if their son is actually his…)

for those who struggled if you don't mind sharing, was there a physical issue such as low sperm count or endometriosis?

Initial tests came back fine but I kept having early MC. Then I had 2 x eptopic, one of which ruptured so reduced to one fallopian tube. Then fertility testing discovered endometriosis, which made perfect sense as I’ve always had extremely heavy painful periods, I just assumed that was normal!
Then after another later MC tests revealed DH is carrier of a genetic condition that causes chromosome translocations. Took over 5 years to get the answers to why were weren’t conceiving. Over the 10 years had 6 MC but it often took two years to get the positive pregnancy tests. The last couple of MC were after having IVF so they were quite close together.
I got to 40 and decided I couldn’t keep putting myself through it. It was hard. We grieved for the baby/life we always assumed we’d have, but 7 years later we’re good, our relationship is great and we are just getting on and enjoying life.

All three of my children were conceived immediately. All planned. I'm lucky I didn't have any unplanned really!

Baby 1 - straight away aged 31
Baby 2 - 3 cycles aged 34

I would keep a log on an app like Flo and you can use ovulation sticks too 😊

How old are you OP? I’ve seen people on here worrying about their biological clock when they’re only 30 etc. I’d you’re 37+ I wouldn’t advise waiting a year ideally. If you’re more like 30-32 it will probably be fine to wait.

if only. Then can try and do something

unexplained

i should have got preg with the law of averages and age and amount had sex

but didn’t

so ivf

but even that took 5 attempts to get my one and only bfp

18 months and rather longer with my second. I was 25 when we first started trying, but I do have PCOS (or is it pmos now?) though for context.

I got pregnant on the pill with DS1, aged 23.

With DS2 it was the only time we had sex without contraception, aged 25.

DH had a vasectomy after that.

About a year. And given the consultants that was a 0ne off would never happen again. They said that about my delivery too casaerian that’s it
