Meghan stated that shortly after her wedding in 2018, a letter outlining "disturbing allegations" against her father was sent to the Metropolitan Police and Royalty and Specialist Protection. She was informed today nothing in case it jeapordised the case.

The case is complex because markle moved from the US to the Philippines. The two countries are cooperating in the investigation, but joint jurisdiction makes it complex.

Meghan Markle has a ponytail and brunette hair.

Meghan says she was informed about 'disturbing allegations' against her father in 2018

The Duchess of Sussex issues a statement following reports her estranged father is being investigated over child sex abuse images in the Philippines.

This is such a bizarre story, who showed the letter to Megan and who wrote the letter? Who else did the police show it to? I'm assuming at a minimum the queen and probably King Charles knew the police were showing Megan all these allegations. I'm strangely annoyed they did show her as why should she have that information. Unless something in the letter threatened her immediate safety why on earth are they just showing her stuff. It doesn't sound like due process. Why would they show an American citizen details about a potential investigation involving her father. It's pure corruption and one of my major issues with the monarchy. We are becoming jankier and more corrupt as a nation because of people not doing their jobs properly.

Constantrunner · 23/10/2026 23:40

@ohdelay just read the article. It tells you.

Constantrunner · 23/10/2026 23:43

But this is the usual stuff.
Lots of royal supporters would rather defend an alleged paedophile than support Meghan and harry or criticise the royal family.
We had this same shit with Andrew. Defending an alleged rapist of sex trafficked teenagers.
Thomas Markle is an alleged paedophile. Such investigations can be complex and joint jurisdiction plus Thomas health problems make this investigation particularly complex. But there is no way any stranger should be defending him.

So we are supposed to believe that Meghan -who left her father to flounder before the wedding, didn’t introduce him to Harry and expected him to walk her down the aisle when he was only due to fly in two days before the ‘spectacle’ , stopped speaking to him . Utterly cut him off.
Then she finds out through a letter sent to the Met (why? Why the British
police? Markle isn’t British nor did he live here) that her dad is accused of being a peadophile.
Who sent this letter?
She sits on this news. But writes to him “dear daddy” about the wedding.
Then, two years later she discusses her father on OW going into detail about the hoo -ha before the wedding,
Why would you even bring him up if you thought he was a peado?
Tgen -still no arrest of Mr Markle, or seizing of items - Harry in an interview says how she lost her dad because of him. Why would he mention Markle? Why on earth would you bring him up? Still no arrest though.
Markle then moves to the Phillipenes - how is he allowed to do this? Oh that’s right , there’s no arrest but Meghan is still keeping her kids and herself away from him without ever even discussing the “letter”with him, despite him not being arrested, questioned, devices checked, investigated, seemingly no other complaints or reports about him.
All this time and no newspaper anywhere in th3 world gets a whiff of this or investigates him.
Zoom to now - all over the papers and Meghan is saying “See! That’s why I kept my kids away”. Why though Meghan? There was one unsubstantiated letter until your half brother -who seemingly has been financially cut off - found boxes and boxes of ‘stuff’. Boxes Markle senior hasn’t seen for two years.

It all smells to me. There’s something very odd going on.

So do you think Meghan and the brother who has spent years slagging her off and running a conspiracy blog about her is now colluding with her to bring down their dad just to give Meghan a backstory?
I suspect what is more plausible is that Markle Jnr has been withholding evidence because Markle senior was his and his sisters cash cow re the British tabloids. Then the dad said he wanted to keep the money he was getting so Jnr has ' suddenly' found loads of evidence. You can't prosecute someone if the evidence isn't there. Now we know exactly where that evidence was. It was in a tiny flat in the Philippines and no one saw it apparently until now when their money has run out.

@ohdelay just read the article. It tells you.

It doesn't though. If someone accuses someone of CSA it can't be protocol to let a close family member of the accused know that you're looking into them. It's like letting them look at your notes and could also put their source in danger? It's bizarre unless rules and common sense and the law don't apply to everyone.

Constantrunner · 23/10/2026 23:49

@ohdelay the police informed the royal family and Meghan. The royal family are not treated like any ordinary person.
But actually if family members e.g. children are thought to be potentially at risk, the police can visit and let you know about allegations.

Was Meghan a victim? If she only found out in 2018?

Its terrible for her and her family obviously. But she wasn't being abused herself as she didn't know about him until 2018. We need to remember the actual real victims here. Rather than only having sympathy for the person who immediately released a statement saying she had known for years.

I have sympathy for every victim of SA and for the victims of TM if the allegations are true and I don’t think it’s right that everyone leaps to the conclusion that MM wasn’t a victim.

We obviously don’t know and I don’t think we should know either, and it’s worth bearing in mind that, according to NSPCC research, young people who attempted to disclose during childhood experienced an average delay of 7.8 years since the start of the abuse, though many did not fully disclose until much, much later in life.

Some victims are too young to fully comprehend what happened to them and generally it’s thought that only one in three disclose at all.

So I don’t think it’s a subject that we should be making assumptions about.

Maybe she didn’t want to say my dad’s a paedophile?

Maybe she knew from personal experience?

Why do you always have to ascribe bad ulterior motives to her?

Why did she and Harry just say nothing then?

NocturnalFox · Yesterday 00:07

Well... So, Meghan learned about the suspicions regarding her father shortly after the wedding (the media suggest "in the summer" of 2018: June, July, or perhaps August?). Because it is worth remembering that in August 2018, Meghan wrote a letter to her father, addressing him as "Daddy." In it, she expresses her distress over matters such as Mr. Markle’s staged photos and his public statements, yet she makes no mention of those suspicions.
Mr. Markle did not release the letter; no one even knew Meghan had written it...
...until February 2019, when her friends "inadvertently" revealed its existence during an interview with People magazine.
So, by February 2019—months after she supposedly became aware of the allegations—Meghan still wanted it known that she had attempted to reach out to her father. This leads to one of two conclusions:
1- It is not true that she knew about the allegations in 2018; therefore, they were not the reason she severed ties with her father.
2- She did know about the allegations in 2018, yet she still sought to contact her father.Which is undoubtedly very strange.

She cut him out before she knew though. The timeline doesn't work.

Yes people need to remember this - something just doesn’t add up here.
M dated H from 2016 and he didn’t even meet TM.
I don’t believe she had any intention of having her Dad at the wedding - she’s very determined and if she’d really wanted him there he would have been.
The letter arrived weeks or months afterwards, she didn’t speak to TM from a day or two days before the wedding.

Why should they say anything publicly? The police were investigating.

That is my point. Say nothing. But they didn't do that. Harry said that if it wasn't for him then Meghan would still have a relationship with her dad. This was quite a few years after 2018?

Constantrunner · Yesterday 00:29

Seriously you are all focused on criticising Meghan rather than thomas the alleged paedophile.
It's crazy.
You would think the accusations had been against Meghan looking at this thread.

mafiacat · Yesterday 00:36

I do not understand the unrelenting hatred and hostility towards Megan from some posters on here.

My theory is jealousy - they can't stand that she's wealthy, beautiful and married a prince.

Everything she does is wrong, she can't win.

Am not blaming her. I was trying to say pressure from media made her write to her dad. And also that some seeing the accusations against her dad as very serious so will ask why she did not say something in that interview. Not fully but a hint. Look at any of my posts today or in the past. Today i have repeatedly said its not her sin and she should not be made to bear it. That she must be in tears. Here i was just saying by not even hinting at it, it will be used to question that interview. May be rightly. May be wrongly. To be fair, that oprah interview was about their exit from rf. Not her entire life. But that wont stop people asking those kind if questions. Evn asking why didnt harry mewt hee dad two year before that met letter. I have said years back that we dont know details of that estrangement

Constantrunner · Yesterday 01:10

I don't care about harry and Meghan. They are rich strangers and will be fine.

What I do care about is how so many royal supporters repeat rape and child sexual abuse myths all to criticise Meghan or to defend Andrew.

If you find yourself posting anything and everything, even disgusting myths to defend or attack a stranger, maybe you need to step away from social media? Because the truth is repeating rape and childhood sexual abuse myths has real life consequences for victims who think they are partially to blame, and for rapists and paedophiles who use myths to undermine their victims and deny responsibility.

Yes! How often do we find a trove of child sexual abuse images and footage in our father's possession and it has a totally innocent explanation!

One starts to understand why Meghan has been quietly distanced from her father, as no doubt she sensed something unsavoury from him, if not outright experienced it.

The police in the US and Philippines are investigating. Thomas now lives in the Philippines.

gishgalloping · Yesterday 01:30

The Daily Mail is reporting that a photograph of Thomas Markle having sex (raping would be the correct word here but this is the language they’ve chosen) with what appears to be an underage girl is in the cache of photographs reported by Markle Jr.

I realise some posters are dedicated to treating Meghan like she’s a cartoon villain but she is not responsible for her father’s behaviour, for investigating him or anything else. She has done the right thing by distancing herself and her children from him and by immediately publicly stating what she knew once the story broke. Like all of us, she’s not a perfect person but she’s done nothing wrong here.

According to all credible reporting, Markle moved from Mexico to Phillipines and now lives in Florida.

At some point in between he may have been in Pennsylvania because his son reported him to the Pennsylvania State Police. He was born in Newport, PA which is Perry County. Look it up if you want to understand more about his background.

There is a great deal of absolute shite posted on this thread. By people who should know better, @Constantrunner.

Please don’t feign interest in justice here if you don’t know the basic facts.

Meghan absolutely has no responsibility for what her father may have done (I’m phrasing it this way as he has not yet been charged or convicted).

I am struggling with the fact that she was made aware of something along these lines, 8 years ago, and settled with being “assured” that it was being looked in to. That doesn’t sit right, for me. She had/has way more resources available to her than your everyday person, I can’t believe she’d not want updates/press for further action. That’s 8 years for him to be doing god knows what. I’m not talking about her speaking publicly about it, but I am interested in whether she pushed for further info over the years or not.

There are a lot of questions that need answering here, not just from M:

When was the letter received by the Met (and was it dated)?
When did they inform M?
What did the Met do (if anything)?
Was TM left unchecked for 8 years - if so, why?
T Jr apparently called an FBI hotline over 3 months ago - why was there no follow up from them?
Given there was no follow-up, why didn’t he try another avenue?

Horrific situation, but relevant authorities really need to ramp up investigations asap.
