There was nothing for her to do. She was informed by the police that her father was being investigated for child abuse back in 2018, she cut contact with him and kept her kids safe.
I'm not sure what you're expecting her to have done? The authorities already knew and were investigating - if she'd gone to the press and said, "The police have told me that my dad's a nonce" she would have potentially wrecked any investigation, which sounds like a complicated one covering a couple of different countries. People would have accused her of using a terrible situation to gain attention and sympathy.
Now it has come out, people are literally doing that anyway. On this and a couple of other threads I've seen people suggesting:
-
If she knew, why didn't she do anything? (Because the authorities already knew and were the ones who told her. She's not Batman).
-
Thomas Markle is a hardworking man wronged by Meghan, and is being stitched up to gain sympathy for the Sussexes (er, if you say so).
-
Her statement is a publicity stunt (and I'm sure if she'd stayed quiet people would have theorised that she'd covered up for him, or demand a statement from her).
-
Her children were born to surrogates, she's not biologically related to them and was only pretending to be pregnant (wtf?).
The poor woman had already distanced herself from her father after he was selling her secrets to the press, and then finds out he's been accessing child abuse material. She quite reasonably completely cut him off, whilst the British press kept giving the nonce a platform on how horribly hard done by he is because his mean daughter won't let him see his grandchildren.
