@Red Personally, if I thought my father was a pedophile, and a danger to my child, and said father then moved to the Philippines, I would be down the cop shop talking to someone to ask if there is an Interpol watch list he should be put on. To warn the Philippines authorities and all that.

But, all of that may have happened? We don't know what went on behind the scenes as evidenced by this story. We think we know things and convert speculation to fact.

I wonder about the likes of Piers Morgan - he bankrolled Markel Sir for a decade, as well as the sister. Wouldn't his tabloid nose have caught a whiff? I wonder if that is why he moved away from Markel?

And if said father had a stroke and an amputation in the Philippines, given that I did not allow him to contact to my kids because I consider him a danger, I would not be publicizing me trying to get a letter to him via consular services.
Can you see how the same info can be looked at differently ? And it's important to note that it is partial info, with insinuations.

Yes, I can see how the same info can be twisted and turned. I also see how the external pressure on MM?PH can force error, as so much is twisted and turned.

Any way - good luck to you @RedTagAlan . I will see you on the Trump threads - I enjoy/look forward to your posts over there!

Quote " Yes, I can see how the same info can be twisted and turned. I also see how the external pressure on MM?PH can force error, as so much is twisted and turned."

I don't think I twist and turn any info. I do often get it wrong though when I don't know all the info. We just read so many things differently, people I mean.

What I do find interesting about this, after years of trying to figure out what the hell Trump is saying, is how the HAMs could have put out such an ambiguous statement. It is the sort of statement one might put out to create confusion and division. If one knew what one was doing. There is a new spin on their NC status being introduced, carefully. But it has not worked very well. It is backfiring a bit.

Compare that to Trump. I am convinced he does not know what he is doing.

Of course but this is all glossed over. They only did something publicly when the attention became untenable.

Of course. Not to mention dear old Uncle Louis. And this, of course, is what happens within privileged institutions whose members never hear the word 'no' and are answerable to nobody. They end in thinking that they're entitled to take whatever they want.

The whole repulsive lot of them disgusts me. And yes, they are racists. Philip, the Kent Princess and Harry himself are three of the worst examples, but the Queen and her mother also join the list. Ethnic minorities were banned from working on their staff. And it's all there in pixillated, documented, unassailable evidence.

Not racist? My arse. There are none so blind as those who refuse to see.

Harry himself heard them say things he felt showed they were concerned about their child’s skin colour. If they did make those comments, it was not a police matter and therefore Meghan repeating them wouldn’t interfere with a police investigation.

The information about her father came from another source, someone she didn’t know and trust like her husband. It is a police matter, it is against the law and Meghan repeating the accusations could interfere and ruin a police investigation and fair trial.

I would repeat something my husband told me that wasn’t about a police matter. I wouldn’t repeat something a person less well known to me said that was a police matter.

Do you see the difference?

Edited

I’m afraid I don’t see that at all and Harry changed his story on this numerous times. But as I said above if you are criticising and attacking a family for behaviour that hasn’t been proved (and Harry himself has no said the RF) are not racist) you better make sure there are no skeletons in your own family’s closet and there was certainly a big one in hers which she was well aware of.-

Tell me you know nothing about the complexity family of relationships, even when abuse of you or others has taken place, without telling me…..

Seriously, people continue to have contact with people that abused them…sometimes forever. Sometimes they have a mental health crisis when they have their own children. Sometimes it takes years of therapy to get to the stage where you accept what happened and stop contact. And a million other outcomes. Having an abusive parent whether that abuse is aimed at you or others, is really complex. Many studies are there to read if you wish. It’s simply not as easy as saying what you would do. You don’t know until you are in the situation and even then what you would do, isn’t how the next person would react due to having different experiences etc.

I really can’t stand it when people try to simplify these things.

Edited

It's not me claiming I cut my father off in one statement but proving I've contacted him in others.

BadgerBadgerBear · 23/10/2026 15:28

I’ve not actually read a harry and Megan thread before as I thought it would be batshit

it is. Wow. How are there so many posters with such an absolute blind hatred of them (well… Megan) that there is absolutely no logic to the twists and turns they make to have her be to blame, at fault and just an awful person.

it’s absolutely wild.

BunnyBunbunbun · 23/10/2026 15:29

SerafinasGoose · 23/10/2026 15:19

Precisely.

I am sick and tired of seeing women held fully responsible for the actions of autonomous, adult men. Strangely enough, however, the York sisters were accorded a good deal of sympathy when they were the ones in this invidious position.

I'm at a loss to know what this woman was reasonably expected to do. Inform the police? That makes absolute sense, seeing as they were the ones who originally informed her. She wasn't merely sitting back and letting child abuse continue - the issue was already in the hands of the authorities.

"She wasn't merely sitting back and letting child abuse continue - the issue was already in the hands of the authorities."

Doesn't the fact that the authorities did not take any action against Thomas Markle suggest that whatever allegations were made against him in the 2018 letter had no basis? Child abuse allegations may have been made (bearing in mind we don't know what the allegations in the letter were), but the authorities do not appear to have concluded that child abuse actually took place.

"Strangely enough, however, the York sisters were accorded a good deal of sympathy when they were the ones in this invidious position."

Er, the York sisters were accorded very little sympathy and were positively eviscerated by some. Meghan could, however, simply do as they are doing and say nothing. Let the current investigation continue and then speak out if she really needs to. Otherwise, all she does is make herself the centre of attention (I suspect this is her aim) and allows all kinds of speculation, especially when she makes vague allusions about things. All she has achieved is to invite more press scrutiny, and the press will only ask more questions, some of which she may not like.

Alondra · 23/10/2026 15:29

Benjithedog · 23/10/2026 14:42

But Megan has done the same thing. She also kept these allegations quiet all the while attacking another family for their alleged behaviour. The thing is when you are going to go all out in they way they did you have to make sure your side of the street is clean and her side wasn’t clean at all judging by the allegations against her father,

If you believe the Daily Mail, Meghan learned the allegations against her father when the Metropolitan Police in the UK told her soon after her wedding with Harry in 2018. Her father had not been invited to the wedding, and neither her siblings. Her only family attending the wedding was her mother, a very discreet woman

Meghan has no relationship with her father or siblings from before the wedding. How on earth could she kept quiet about allegations she didn't know about?

It's almost certain the Met shared the info with her because after her wedding, she was a member of the royal family. If she had been Meghan actress, they wouldn't have cared shit.

But why on earth is this Meghan's fault?

RedTagAlan · 23/10/2026 15:31

threetrainers · 23/10/2026 14:57

@RedTagAlanI don’t understand your post. I don’t read is as the Met or, isn’t it one and the same?

Just that the Royal Protection is a division of the met. So who got the letter, the met or the protection team ?

The statement is not clear at all.

Ickkkkkk · 23/10/2026 15:31

BunnyBunbunbun · 23/10/2026 15:20

But Meghan is talking now about the 2018 allegations (whatever they were - we know nothing beyond the alleged existence of a mysterious letter).

If, as you claim, she wouldn't speak publicly about something that was a police issue, then why is she speaking out publicly about the 2018 letter? Does that mean it's no longer a police issue? In which case, the police investigation - if there was one - must have ended and given there was no action taken against Thomas Markle Sr, he must have been exonerated.

Moreover, Meghan is putting out a statement now about these new allegations about her father while there is an ongoing police investigation. So, contrary to what you claim, she is speaking out during a police investigation and in a way that may prejudice it.

It’s been put into the public domain by others. She has only responded to it. That is very different to her being the one to reveal the accusations. I’m sure she will have taken legal advice about if and how she should respond.

IF her father is innocent or not charged at all, whoever has put this into the public domain, is on very dodgy ground.

I don’t believe any legal team would have advised her to be the one to put the accusations out there though. That would be madness. Responding is very different to accusing and obviously she will have been advised on exactly how to respond to not accuse.

Hopefully the police and justice system will do their work. This isn’t for Meghan to do though.

This board will always find a way to blame Meghan. She hasn’t abused children. She was informed once the police already knew from what has been said. There was nothing she should or could have done. It would have been inappropriate and potentially detrimental to a case against her father to say anything.

Well said. I don’t think people should be commenting or speculating about this when so few of the facts are known.

It’s such a complex situation and I feel sorry for Meghan having to deal with this on top of everything else.

Washingupdone · 23/10/2026 15:35

I don’t understand the time line history. When did Meghan first hear about the terrible news regarding her father? When did Meghan write that famous letter to her father which landed in court?

BunnyBunbunbun · 23/10/2026 15:35

Alondra · 23/10/2026 15:29

"It's almost certain the Met shared the info with her because after her wedding, she was a member of the royal family. If she had been Meghan actress, they wouldn't have cared shit."

Why would the Metropolitan Police of London notify an American resident - as Meghan would have been if she hadn't married Harry - of allegations against her father?

"Meghan has no relationship with her father or siblings from before the wedding. How on earth could she kept quiet about allegations she didn't know about?"

So, the breakdown in her relationship with her father has nothing to do with the 2018 letter then. But she implies in her statement that it is the reason why she is estranged from her father.

It's not me claiming I cut my father off in one statement but proving I've contacted him in others.

She didn’t see him. She didn’t let him see her children. She sent a letter to a father not yet found guilty of anything when he was in hospital. As I’ve explained, families are complicated. Some children stay in touch with the worst parents imaginable because it’s complex. She sent a letter, that is all. You’re either very naive about the psychology behind abuse in families or you just want to see the worst in Meghan. Read a few papers, it may help you understand.

We're commenting on Meghan's own statement and the words she put out herself and wants us all to hear.

And that's the problem with her statement - that it only invites speculation and comments. So, what was the point, especially when it was so pointed and passive-aggressive and intended to have a dig at some? If she really felt the need to make a statement it could have been more carefully worded and crafted so as to encourage the least speculation. As you say, it's a complex situation. The most sensible thing would have been not to make it more complex with such a statement.

The RF having concerns about a baby’s skin colour isn’t a police matter. She was free to talk about it. It was also said to her husband so she’d have no doubt it was true.

Trying to compare the two situations is really clutching at straws. Really mad actually. Usually people on here are far better at measured debate. They’re showing themselves up today. They’re showing that in any situation, Meghan will be the bad one.

Of course they are, by any calculation.

C’s close family have been models of discretion. If there have been family issues theyve kept them in the family and not slagged each other off on SM for money.

I know who I’d rather have as neighbours, thanks.

The Markles have been a trashy nightmare from the beginning.

The wife beating coke head went on Big Brother. 😆

BunnyBunbunbun · 23/10/2026 15:54

The Meghan fans are trying hard to be sarcastic about people commenting about Meghan. Thing is, she's the one who's invited comment and scrutiny with her "explosive" statement, with its unexplained allegations, attempts to get one over on the media, to "control the narrative" and to give her own version of the history of the past 8 years.

We can take Meghan at face value, however, and believe what she said. In that case, what happened to the investigation of the 2018 allegations that she spoke about? Thomas Markle was never arrested, no extradition warrant was issued for him. Does that mean the 2018 investigation concluded that he did no wrong and the allegations were false?
