Its not for Meghan to apologise on behalf of her Dad. Did you make any awful comments about her being estranged from her Dad - if you did are you going to apologise for it? No don't think you would

She doesn't need to apologise for him, obviously. What she should have done is try to protect his potential child victims. She did not. She's culpable for that total failure.

AlonsoMosley · 23/10/2026 13:21

Noodledog · 23/10/2026 13:14

Just no. Meghan knew (if all this is true) that her father was suspected of being a paedophile. She also knew her father spent a lot of time in Mexico and SEA- countries notorious for being places paedophiles go to target vulnerable, poor children.

And she did nothing? If she knew in 2018 then she knew that her father could be well be sexually abusing children in other countries and she did nothing? It's fucking vile (if true).

What do you expect her to do?

Name him and shame him? That would go well...
Follow up with the police? maybe she did...
Hire private detectives to investigate?

What would you do in that situation?

MerryAquaKoala · 23/10/2026 13:22

You know when MM told us she got married before the big wedding, and she didn't?

Do you remember when she called the RF racists, and they're not?

Do you remember when she said she never HEARD of Prince Harry and didn't know much about the BRF... but she had and she did..

Do you remember when she was told by the met police that her father was accused of owning hundreds of child abuse photos but erm well oh... let's see what happens

How she is meant to know how they are if all she has been told is that there are allegations? You do know allegations means its not proven so who is she supposed to go protect? She has been told he was being investigated by the authorities whose job it is to protect children from people like Thomas. You also need proof of it too not accusations and allegations.

Eh - so Meghan ditches her father for selling out her privacy when she and Harry have done the same to others - gets criticised - but that hypocrisy is ok now that her father is accused of a crime several years later?

If you’re saying that the reason doesn’t matter if the behaviour can later be justified for a completely different reason, then presumably you think that Catherine’s supposed coldness towards Meghan early on was “proven to be the right thing in the end” because Meghan turned out to be a liar?

Quite! Double standards..

Its a good statement from her and I dont think it invites more questions its pretty clear to me thst what she knew and when was in 2028 by the MET, it was distrubing allegations, not proof so obviously she doesn't know anymore than whst was shared with her st the time. She was told it wiuld be investigated and she cut herself off from her father so why would she know anymore other than the results of any investigation.

Its nice she referenced the victims in all this, stark contrast to whst we have seen in the other situation in the RF where noone has talked about the victims, well except one where they tried to discredit them.

It’s really not a good statement at all.
Any statement that raises more questions than it answers has the potential to backfire. Any decent PR company knows this, it’s their job to ensure it’s worded in such a way that this doesn’t happen..

It’s nice she referenced the victims in all this…. ‘nice’ 🙄

lindyloo57 · 23/10/2026 13:24

I can't believe the hate for Megan, she kept quiet about her father, she must of be embarrassed, its all out in the open now, now all you haters realise why she didn't invite him to the wedding and why she didn't go see him when was poorly.

What I find baffling is that, according to The Sun's report, Thomas Markle Jnr only made a statement to the police in the Philippines last night. What, so only when The Sun reporter turned up on his doorstep he thought to actually go to the police?

Something is majorly off about the brother's behaviour and The Sun's hand in all this.

Even more baffling Meghan has known about it for years....as have the police....But no action seemingly was taken?

https://www.dailymail.com/news/article-16232163/Meghan-Markles-father-child-sex-images-son-lies.html

And Meghan wrote him a nice calligraphy letter while he was in hospital in the Philippines "enjoying the local hospitality"

😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

The whole thing is awful

Meghan says she's 'deeply distressed' by allegations against father

The Duchess of Sussex revealed claims against Thomas Markle Sr were passed to her in 2018 after a letter was sent to the Metropolitan Police's royal protection team.

Yes, it’s going to be horrendous for her. She gets so much stick for no reason so unfairly and now this.

Edited

Unfairly? She was horrid, took something like 32 mil of British people’s money then smugly laughed about how she didn’t even want to have the wedding and then lied about having been married by the archbishop. Then she went on about how she was trapped and held hostage despite having openly been to at least two countries for her baby showers. She and her branded us all racists for all intents and purposes which, don’t know about you, but I’m bloody not.

the PRESS do treat her (and everyone) horrendously. However that is not unique to her whatsoever.

GoodGirlFaith · 23/10/2026 13:24

SerafinasGoose · 23/10/2026 12:53

Markle Sr. is not a UK citizen.

Not our circus, not our monkeys.

Wrong. The British Royal Family is very much the business of the British people.

AlonsoMosley · 23/10/2026 13:25

Noodledog · 23/10/2026 13:17

She has absolutely not done the right thing. If the allegations are true, she took no action to protect innocent children from being abused by a paedophile- for 8 years! It's despicable behaviour.

Surely this a reach even for you?

Are going drive the narrative now that she facilitated paedophilia?

For shame, ffs...

From what I’ve read, the police were informed in a letter and then that was shared with Meghan. So the police already knew.

From the bbc,

‘In a statement, Meghan said a letter containing allegations against Thomas Markle was sent to the Metropolitan Police that year and subsequently shared with her.’

I remember all those posters saying she was so awful for not visiting when he was in hospital. They were so vile about her.

Some people were saying she will have her reasons and children don’t go no contact with parents without good reason. They were shouted down by the usual crowd and some got deleted due to their OTT attack of Meghan and defence of her father. I hope those people think how they act in future.

They were saying her father had been a fabulous father, was a decent man, how he’d given her everything and they even defended him going to the papers etc. Now it seems it’s all so much worse. Those poor children.

My friend found this out about her father and she never spoke to him again. He told everyone it was due to something she did and tried to turn people against her. Many believed him. When it became public knowledge, she had to deal with it all over again. My friend is still having therapy 8 years on. She has never been the same.

I hope Meghan is ok. She’ll have been through complex feelings when she was first made aware and will likely be going through it all again now it’s out there for the world to know.

But no probs with him having access to vulnerable children in poor countries, apparently.

Ridiculous.
Given who he is, it would not be a secret for 8 years!

Wrong. The British Royal Family is very much the business of the British people.

Except they don't want to be Royal other than when it suits them.

They want to be PRIVATE, remember?

And she's not RF- just happens to be married to H.

Monty36 · 23/10/2026 13:28

If true, and we do not know it, then it is utterly awful.

It does not though in some way excuse behaviours by her that in the past have been remiss or highly questionable.

Entirely separate things.

She is not despicable at all. Thomas Markle is the one who is despicable if the allegations are true. Meghan was told by police it was being investigated. There was nothing more she could do. If she had gone to the press about her father being a child abuser with no actual proof there would have been all sorts of venemous attacks on her and her father would have sued her.

Meghan cannot win whatever she does and I find putting the blame on her for her father's alleged crimes is also despicable.

Ickkkkkk · 23/10/2026 13:29

Noodledog · 23/10/2026 13:26

What did you want her to do when the police already had knowledge of this? Did you want her to announce it to to the world when he hadn’t been charged with anything? I can imagine what people here would have said about that. Not to mention, if it did go further, she could have ruined the whole investigation.

toiletpaperthief · 23/10/2026 13:30

I find it utterly shocking that a MN thread that started as a womans father being investigated for child po-rn has turned into said woman being accused of child se-xual abuse. The conspiracionists are out full force today (must be the rain). The "Megan hatred" is getting ridiculous.

The really awful thing is that I’m not shocked. Meghan will ALWAYS be wrong on this board.
